Katie's POV

Killian stretched his hand to me. I stared at it, randomly recalling him standing in that same trench coat, coming down the hall like a savior.

I took his hand. “I oddly remember that trench coat now more than ever.” I blurted out.

He looked down at the green trench coat, confusion displayed on his face. “Well, it won't be the first time I have worn it, so…”

I rolled my eyes, not bothering about giving him a back story as to why I said what I said. Instead, we walked down the path from the school and got into his car in time for the SWF, special werewolf force’s arrival. They pulled up in multiple cars, gating the school’s entrance before our eyes.

“Wanna sit and watch Evan’s ass get dragged out of the building?” Killian’s voice popped in my head.

“Okay, I get we are mates and bonded, but I am never getting used to you talking inside my head. I have ears for a reason.” I turned to say to him. The familiar sound of the school door being violently opened sent both of ou

Killian's POV Flashback We sat outside Wayne's street, directly adjacent to the only working lamppost in the street. I wondered why a well paid doctor with connections to all the powerful people in the park lived in such a sketchy area with hardly any lights. The buildings around either looked unoccupied or sketchy. But then again, she wasn't a saint herself. She clearly had her own secrets. Doctor Esther had been pronounced dead and we knew who was responsible. We have the evidence. But at the same time, we had nothing. There was nothing that directly connected the Whitlocks, Matthew and the head of special werewolf forces, Anne Adams. The beta—that caught me by surprise considering I could swear he was one of the good ones. “You really think it is a great idea to snoop in the house of the deceased just a day after she is pronounced dead??” The worry in his voice was enough to have me turn to face him. “You heard what she said, ‘take them out bec

Katie's POVShedrack didn’t pick up his phone after ringing him up at least three times. That was weird. He usually was the closest to his phone. “He's not picking up.” I said out loud, turning to Killian to see his reaction. He looked deep in thoughts like he was already thinking about our next step, which I bet he was. He never slowed down, especially in times like this. I could hear the gears turning in his head as he was trying to figure out our next move. The car was also slowing down but not necessarily coming to a full halt. “What about—what's his name? Roman?” He tapped the steering wheel impatiently. I nodded, deciding not to pick the moment to attack him for forgetting Roman's name. We weren't exactly in the most comfortable situations. I scrolled down my phone aggressively, coming to a halt on his name. I dialed it and he picked up immediately. “Hey Roman—” “I can't get a hold on Shedrack. I have been trying to call you guys. I don't have Killian contact and yours was n

Katie's POV I was staring into his hollow eyes that terribly needed sleep. I could tell he meant every damn word he was saying. His eyebrows were almost knitted into a straight frown the way he furrowed them at me. The red streak of vein that curled down his pupil stuck out to me. I was about to tell him he needed to take care of himself too when a sudden loud noise that sounded like someone violent struggling with a locked door made me jump literally into his arms. We all were startled, with Shedrack going behind the counter immediately. It turned out to be a crazy looking Roman. He was pointing violently at the lock doors and them at his head, his hand signifying a gun. I didn't need more show and tell in my life. I got to the glass door and slid the mopstick out, letting the crazy boy in.“Where is he??” He was all up in my face. His eyes darted around the Cafe, clearly in search of a certain someone who was currently seeking refuge behind the counter. Like a hamster, his head po

Katie's POV “WHAT???”I could feel the siren blaring at the back of my head as reality began to settle in from the drop of his words. “Do you have a better way of saying it? Please, be my guest.” He didn't hesitate to slap me across the face with his tone. It was clear that now wasn't a time to remember he was my mate and he should have delivered that information with some sort of care. The situation we had ourselves in genuinely didn't care for us. The both of us. I sighed, knowing he was right and that we needed to get the hell out of here as soon as possible. “I just thought I would have a little more time to like…” I trailed off. Roman came into my focus. He wasn't all up in Shedrack’s face anymore, now that he knew he was safe and well. He was concentrating on me now. “You would have more time to do what? Say bye to the monster of a father you have or your evil stepmother??” “Friends.” I let the word drop, trying not to think about what he said in the tone he said it. His

Katie's POV “Hey Jessica…” Roman muttered. The seconds after that felt like a turmoil was growing inside of me as his face turned into horror. The worst possible scenario is all I could think of. “What’s she saying??” I almost forgot to whisper. He frowned at me, as if trying to shut me up without really saying anything at the same time. So I let the anxiety consume me, seconds after seconds. He moved away from me and I drew closer. It was Shedrack who held me back. I was ready to fight for my freedom till I saw the defeated look on his face. “Let him talk to her. You are wanted. I don't think it's a good idea to let her know we are here. I mean, do you trust her??” The question turned something in my head ice cold, like an icicle poking through my frontal lobe. It Sent goosebumps down my arms. I immediately knew the answer to the question. No. His hand slowly slipped off my shoulder and back to his side. Together, we watched him converse from a distance.

Jessica's POVI could see my locker in sight. At the same time I could hear voices. Down the hall splits into two ends, forming a T-shape. One led to the exit and one led to the gymnasium. Both of which were supposed to be crowded, but a few hours had passed after Katie unraveled the chaos that had been creeping in the roots of the pack. The voices seemed to stay at the same volume, no matter how close I got to my locker. You could still hear the imminent faint voices whispering to each other. They were voices I didn't recognize. Slowly, I walked past the goal—my locker. I was suddenly more interested in the voice because whatever they were talking about that needed them to keep their voice at a hushed level needed to be heard and had to be important. I abandoned my initial goal, the new goal was to find where the obscure voice was coming from. The hallway towards the exit was empty except for two special force guards who stood outside at the entrance. You could see their head gear a

He sighed. “Jessica is coming here, first of all.” He announced. All three of us at the same time erupted into noises of disapproval before he shut us down by clapping his hands so loud, I could swear he used some magic to enhance the loudness as I had to slap my hand against my ears to not be deafened by it. “Can you all chill the fuck out?! Katie's POVWalking through the streets of Red Moon Pack, pictures of my dad were plastered in every corner of the streets. He was running for the position of Alpha President, and his beloved pack members were campaigning for him as they shared fake stories of his good deeds. I call them fake because, for the past seventeen years, he has never bothered about my well-being. Yes, I'm his illegitimate daughter, he raped my mom when he was drunk, and instead of owning up and taking responsibility for his actions, my mom who was nothing but an omega was threatened to keep quiet, while he went ahead to marry the former Pack's councilors's daughter, Joanna, and they have a daughter who is just a month younger than me named Jessica.I hate this Pack and everyone in it. They all know I'm an illegitimate child and they even know how I was conceived but they chose to turn a blind eye, and instead, decided to bully my mother and me into silence.I've never felt any sense of belonging here, and I

The rest of it was pure silence and awkwardness.“Fuck…” I said out loud. Not to the fact I just confessed my feelings for Katie but because It felt good. It felt good to admit it out loud for once that I found every moment with her thrilling.“I don't think you know this but you weren't exactly subtle about it on the trip, you know that, right?” Stephen asked, looking at me through the front mirror. The same mirror I used to flip him my middle finger.“Well you try having a mate you are destined to be with where you can't control how you feel, what you feel and when you feel it. And when your other comes as close as ten inches from you, you can smell their soul. It's that deep.” I said defensively. I hated how it seemed as if I lacked self control when that was like my greatest fort.“Killian, are you saying Katie is you
