CHAPTER THIRTY - SECRET LIFE 

WILLIAMS’ POV

I watched Sarah's eyes narrow, her gaze piercing through me like a dagger. We stood in my office, the tension between us thick enough to cut with a knife.

"Williams, can I ask you something?" she ventured, her voice measured, but with a hint of accusation.

I hesitated, knowing where this was headed. "Sure, Sarah," I replied, my tone neutral, but my mind racing with excuses.

"Why did you lie about me to Monica?" she asked, her tone even, but with a hint of hurt.

I shrugged, trying to downplay it. "It wasn't a big deal, Sarah. I just didn't want to get into it with her."

Sarah's eyes flashed with frustration, but she kept her cool. "That's not an excuse, Williams. You made it sound like we were nothing, like our relationship meant nothing to you."

I sighed, feeling a twinge of guilt. "Sarah, it's complicated. I didn't mean to hurt you."

She took a step closer, her voice low and husky. "You're still lying, Williams. And it hurts."
