ALVIRA’S POV

Once again, Clarissa falls asleep mid way into the movie. I let out a soft chuckle as I tidied up, listening to get soft snores. I quickly but quietly packed up the bowls of popcorn and arranged the sitting room while making sure I didn’t wake her up. She was a light sleeper and the slightest noise would wake her up.

I busied myself with washing the dishes and cleaning up the mess we had left earlier on. Yep, Clarissa and I had a funny habit of leaving our kitchen mess up after we finished cooking or making a snack and would only go back to clean it up after we were done eating.

I took out the trash and cleared out the cabinets, unconsciously cleaning up the whole kitchen and dining area. Deep down, I know it was all just a way to distract myself from the myriad of thoughts running through my head. ‘Rissa’s question kept ringing in my head and I struggled to find a suitable answer for it.

To an extent, I knew I was comfortable with my relationship with Carter and the p

ALVIRA’S POV“No,” I said a little too forcefully. I didn't want him to think that I was not interested in that.“Good," he said with another smirk. "Now, I would like to take my girlfriend out to a nice place to eat and chill for a while. Come on.” He said, guiding me to the passenger side of the car and guiding me in. As usual, he buckled me in and closed the door before walking around to his side behind the wheel. “Um, where are we going tonight?” I asked. “We are going to one of the finest restaurants in the city and perhaps, in the whole of the country, and I know this because it’s mine.” He said, a smirk on his face as he drove with one hand on the steering and the other on my lap. A few months ago, I would normally be avoiding me and keeping to myself all through. I would even have a panic attack whenever he got so close to me, not to talk of when he would touch me. I found myself getting comfortable enough around him to allow certain touches from him like this one. It was

CARTER’S POVLife was good. Or at least, that is how it seemed to me. I was enjoying life with my girlfriend, and for once in a long time, I found myself looking forward to meeting her and just being around her. She was like an escape from the chaos that was my life. I found myself unconsciously looking over at the time until when I could go over to see her and just do mundane things like going for walks, playing on a swing, taking ice cream, watching the sunset and other random flimsy things that she would always come up with. I would never admit it to anyone else but I really enjoy our time together. I still can not categorically explain what it is that I feel for her but I know that I care about her more than my brain would dare to admit. She is there when I woke up, she stays with me while I go about my day, and she is there when I go back to bed. I do not know how we got to this stage but I found myself comparing every other lady I meet to her. I keep asking myself what was so

CARTER’S POVFuck! This was so not the way I had hoped this night would end. I was too conflicted and in a lot of pain and anger as I sat across Alvira in a very uncomfortable silence. She had withdrawn from me, and I could see how she would rather be anywhere else than sitting across from me now, and the thought gnawed at me. I know right now that I am being a dickhead by openly flirting with the skanky ass dressed waitress in front of Alvira. I could see how my actions are breaking her and doing so much damage to her self esteem but I just can't help it. I am in a very sour mood from the meeting with my father and the sight of her is doing the opposite of what I expected it to do to me. I came over to see her in the hopes that seeing her would be able to calm me down. But it just constantly reminds me of how badly I need to prove myself to my father that I was not a complete failure.A part of me needed to prove to the scumbag that I could do this. That I was worthy of being a s

  • Billionaire's Dark Desire   Chapter 22

CARTER’S POV I watched her squirm, the feeling both nauseating and satisfying. I knew that somewhere around, my father had someone watching us right now and I wanted, no need him to know that I was capable of being whatever I wanted to be. Alvira looked everywhere but at me. The sight was both a turn on and somewhat disturbing. I enjoyed the feeling of discomfort and admired how she tried to hide it and just get through with this dinner so she could go home. “Answer me, Alvira. Did the beautiful waitress make you feel small? Do you not feel pretty? Or just flat out make you feel completely invisible?” I asked. “N- no. She- she did not.” She whispered out, nervously rubbing the tip of her ears and looking around. Of course it was a lie. She would always do that whenever she was lying or uncomfortable about something. She would nervously weave her shaky hands through her hair, moving it haphazardly away from her ear and then rub at it while her eyes darted around. “Are y

ALVIRA’S POVWhy do I have to have the worst fate when it comes to love? I thought to myself as I sobbed in the confines of my room. To think I was so stupid to think that Carter and I would ever amount to anything. That he would care for me to the point of according to me the decency of respecting me in public. I think back to the dinner we just had. It was surprising how he had gone from sweet and caring to me to being a total douchebag. Even going as far as openly flirting with that ugly looking stupid bastard lady of a waitress. Okay, I may have over exaggerated this. She was pretty, had nice toned legs that were not too thick or too thin, with perky breasts, from what I saw when she flashed them at Carter. Her face looked clear and she had a level of confidence when she walked. It was like she knew people were paying attention to her. I groaned, turning over on my bed, my eyes finding the little starry lights I had placed on the ceiling. I sighed once again. I guess I was not

ALVIRA’S POVLunch was delicious. ‘Rissa and I had taken turns making lunch and we had ended up on the couch with our food and drinks on the table. We were back to watching our reruns of Teen Wolf. These were the times I always looked forward to. We were three episodes in when she suddenly started talking. “You know,” she started, picking up the remote and pausing the movie while turning to face me. I also turned to face her. “You have not really told me how your date went last night.” She said, I looked down, my mood suddenly turning sour as my mind once again subconsciously went back to the night before. “You don’t have to blush. And yea, I know. I saw your note on the table before I went off to sleep in my room. I must say. I am kind of digging this new style, you know? Spontaneous night dates and hangouts. It’s like you guys are sneaking around to get the best of the night life without being scared of what might happen. I like that for you.” She rambled. I raised my head to

ALVIRA’S POVI cried. I cried for myself. I cried because of my situation. I cried for my past. And I cried for my life at that moment. Why couldn’t I just get some peace and clarity in my life, you know? “It’s alright.” Clarissa cooed. After a few minutes of crying and Clarissa trying her best to console me, I sat up, detangling myself from her. I looked down at my hands that were fiddling with themselves on my laps. “Talk to me, what happened?” She asked once again. I took a deep breath and looked up at her. “We were supposed to go somewhere serene and just have some food and drinks and come back home, you know? We went over to one of his restaurants downtown and went up to the last floor just so we could be alone and just have our dinner. We were enjoying ourselves and just enjoying each other’s company on the drive there, but as soon as we got to the restaurant and on the elevator, it was like he had changed from the kind, loving and carefree person to the cold hearted, dista

ALVIRA’S POVIt has been two weeks since that very disastrous date and Carter is yet to call or text or even show up at my door. I have to admit, a part of me missed him and was in despair that he had not initiated a call or even made any effort to reach out to me. I could not count how many times I had run to my phone once I got a notification hoping and wishing it was him but only getting disappointed that it was just something else and not him. Clarissa had made me promise that I would not be the one who initiated contact and all I can say is that it has been hell trying my hardest to keep to that promise. But I understood where she was coming from. I needed to make sure that he knew that I could live life without him and I could see how that was aimed at making me more confident but with every day that passed without a call or text from Carter, I felt my heart break down a little more. It hurt to realize that I was so dispensable that he could go days without talking to me or

ALVIRA’S POV“Miss? Miss?”“Maam?” Jane said, touching me and breaking out of my thoughts. I looked around, realizing that I had zoned out again. I shook my head, embarrassed as I noticed all eyes on me. “Ma’am, is everything alright?” Jane asked in a quiet voice. “Huh? Yeah. Um, sorry, I just zoned out for a second. What were we talking about?” I asked. “We were asking if you had any questions on the subject, ma.” Jane said. I blinked. I had no idea what subject they were even referring to. “Oh! Okay, um, let me see.” I flipped open my notebook, skimming through the pages for anything that I could ask only to come up short. I raised my head, seeing their expectant faces and I immediately felt bad. “You know what? How about we adjourn this meeting, yes? I’m so sorry but I just have a lot on my plate right now. I am really sorry.” I apologized. “Of course ma. Whenever you’re ready.” She replied, smiling. “Ladies, gentlemen, we will meet again next week to continue our review

CARTER’S POVI stood by the bleachers watching as the players practiced. The playoffs were in a week and the tension was high as they played, going over the same routines over and over. One particular player stood out, holding my attention for more than half of the time I stood there. He was the man that now held Alvira's heart. The past month has been with me constantly trying to get her to forgive me and speak to me and every single time, I was met with a brick wall. But I was not going to give up anytime soon. I was going to keep up until I knew that she had finally forgiven me. I have already come to terms with the fact that she can never be mine again. I mean, I blew up any other chances myself when I broke her heart. The new private investigator I hired had told me of her relationship with the man and how she spent every Sunday evening at their family house for dinner. It tore at my heart that I could not be the one to provide her with the love and care that she had always

  • Billionaire's Dark Desire   Chapter 95

ALVIRA’S POVHow could he have possibly found me? Oh my God, help me!I could barely sleep for days. Seeing Carter for the first time since that unfortunate night had brought back a flurry of emotions. I did not know how to feel or react and somehow ended up having a panic attack. I was grateful that Clarissa had been there to help me or I would have passed out. I could no longer focus at work or anywhere. I would find myself zoning out just thinking about him. He had not aged a bit ever since. He still looked as handsome as he was when he broke my heart. He had also grown out his beards just a little bit. Exactly how I liked it. But it was too late to think about that now. It has been a week and a few days since he showed up back in my life and I hate to admit that I have not stopped thinking about him. Truth is, I never stopped thinking about him. One doesn’t just forget about one’s first love. How could I? He was my first in so many ways, I had made so many memories with him and

CARTER’S POVGod, she was breathtaking.“Hello, Alvira. Where have you been? I have been looking everywhere for you.” I started.I looked at her, she looked like a breath of fresh air in the busy streets of New York. I could not stop looking at her. She had gotten even prettier, she looked plumper in all the right places and my God, did she look delicious. It felt like it was just us two in the world and all I could do was continue to look at her like my life depended on it. Oh! What a relief to finally set my eyes on her. I have been looking for her for ages and here she was, standing in front of me, looking just as radiant as she did a year ago, if not more in her simple but elegant outfit. She was dressed in a simple plaid shirt and plain grey pants, the outfit holding just the right parts of her. Her hair was in a sleek ponytail and she had some cute fancy hair pins to hold off extra strands or just to accessorize, I could not tell but they looked gorgeous on her all the same.I

ALVIRA’S POV“These are the files you requested for ma'am. I also added the due diligence report you asked for and dropped some of my notes for you.” Jane, my assistant, said, walking into the office and gently placing the folder on my table.“Thank you, Jane. I will go through them in a minute and then we will have the meeting with the finance and marketing department on the next step. Please schedule it for tomorrow morning. I want to have this project done and over by the end of this week.” I said. “Of course, ma. I will get to that immediately.”“Thank you. And one more thing, Jane..”“Yes?”“How are your studies? I hope you are taking them seriously?” I asked.“Of course ma’am. Trust me, passing my finals is all that matters to me right now.” she enthused.“That is the spirit. Keep it up.” “Thank you ma’am. Your support to me these past few months have been everything to me.”“Come on. It is nothing. You can go on with your work now.” I said.“Alright ma.”I immediately went th

  • Billionaire's Dark Desire   Chapter 92

ALVIRA’S POVIt had been three months since I was discharged from the hospital and began living with the Zimmerman family and all I can say is that, if it has been nothing but a blessing being with these lovely souls. I was able to not only see but to also have a first hand experience of what unfiltered love felt and looked like. It was such a breath of fresh air to see James continuously fawning over Cecil. I loved watching the way they would flirt with each other endlessly, her grin permanently plastered on her face. It was just so refreshing. Lucas always gagged and behaved like he was disgusted by it and it pleased me to continually tease him about it endlessly. The look on his face was always priceless. Clarissa had finally come back to the states and it has been a somewhat smooth ride all along. It was refreshing to be around people who were there to help me get out of tough times. I was not completely out of the woods yet but I could already see the light at the end of the tu

  • Billionaire's Dark Desire   Chapter 91

CARTER’S POVEverything happened so fast. One minute I was living my best life in Greece, and the very next, I was boarding a ten hour flight back to New York, sitting uncomfortably and impatiently as I counted down the seconds before we landed. With the way I was reacting, one would dare think that I had a very loving relationship with my father and would be so devastated if anything were to happen to him. Well, a part of it was true but another part of it was also not true. True, my father and I were not the best of pals and hardly got along very well, but that did not mean that I wished any bad thing to come to him. I just wanted to stay as far away from him as possible. I was grateful to Larry for his ability to think on his feet. Ever since the call had come in, he had been the one making the arrangements and making sure that everything went smoothly. He had arranged for the plane to be ready in an hour and had the staff come over to help me arrange my stuff into the car bef

CARTER’S POVLife as a self made multimillionaire was great. I got to have the most beautiful girls, make crucial decisions, spend money however I wanted to, traveled to places I wanted to around the world, and drove only the latest versions of the most expensive cars in the world. I mean, with a face and body like mine coupled with pockets as deep as mine, I was unstoppable. Business was booming and the profits were tripling. The investors were happy which meant more money was being reinvested back into the business. Larry, being the fuvking genius that he was, was relentless when it came to making deals and negotiating with clients. I could never have asked for a more perfect partner. Now, all that was left was to finally be able to cash in on the inheritance money that was sure to come in anytime soon. Although, with the amount of money that I now had sitting in my numerous bank accounts and investments, I wasn’t so interested in the will as much as before. But still, who wasn’t

  • Billionaire's Dark Desire   Chapter 89

ALVIRA’S POVLife with the Zimmerman family has been nothing but wonderful. It felt good to finally get to have a glimpse of what being in a family feels like. I watched as Lucas and his family interacted and I had to admit, it kind of stung. All I have ever wished for growing up was to experience the joy of being in a loving family. As an orphan, I had been passed from one orphanage to another, always hoping to the forces that be that somehow, I would get accepted into a home where I would experience the love and care and acceptance of a family. But alas, that was not to be my lot in life. It was nice to finally experience a bit of love from a family. Cecil had been a sweetheart to me ever since she finally met me. I remember how she had held me c like I was some fragile piece of china. “We are going to make sure we help you get through this, okay?” I remember her words. It had taken every single part of me to hold back from bawling my eyes out. She just had the calmest of faces,
