The shock in Erin and everyone's eyes was very much visible to Liam, and he realized that it was because Mr. Chamberlain was showing him so much respect, and so the people must be puzzled with why is he being shown such respect from a big shot like Mr Chamberlain, when he was nothing compared to him?

What was happening made some of the guests mumble in surprise.
