Amelia had to read the message twice to understand what she was saying. For the first time, she knew her mother’s name; Anne Devano. She remembered asking her father for her mother’s name and picture, but he had ignored her, claiming she didn’t need to know. Her mother was gone and out of their life, keeping anything to bring back her memory was only going to hurt them. He had burnt all her pictures, and Amelia could barely recognize her.

“Anne Devano,”

“What!” Christie asked. She had forgotten that there was someone else beside her. “Who’s Anne Devano?”

“Sorry. I didn’t know I said that out.”

Christie nodded, already forgetting about it. “What do you say to us eating together?”

Amelia hadn’t planned to go on a break, as she had lots of work to do, but her stomach grumbled and gave her away. “I am fine with it
