Chapter 4

Meanwhile, Liam stood by the floor-to-ceiling window at the Havenwood Hotel in South City, gazing blankly at the bustling traffic below. Even now, he had not fully recovered from the emotions of his divorce.

Who would have thought a loving relationship would end that way?

Just moments ago, his former mother-in-law had even contacted him, asking for his address, saying she wanted to see him.

Four years in prison and not a single visit from anyone in the Lloyd family. What meaning did it hold now for them to visit to see him?

Liam let out a soft sigh. Then, he turned to look at the crumpled coffee shop transfer agreement lying on the table.

"A lifetime of worry-free living?" he mused, recalling what Serena said with a sarcastic smile. He reached out and tore the agreement to shreds.

At that moment, Liam's phone suddenly rang. Although arrangements had been made for him before his release, only a few people had his phone number.

Frowning slightly, Liam answered the call.

There was a brief pause on the other end as the caller realized he had picked up. Then, a voice, both anxious and delighted, spoke up, "Is this Grandmaster Burrey?"

The title 'Grandmaster' was the highest honor, the pinnacle of achievement! A Grandmaster was someone who excelled in a particular field and reached the utmost heights. Those addressed as Grandmaster were undoubtedly the most elite figures in the world.

However, upon hearing the title, Liam remained remarkably calm apart from a momentary furrow of his brow.

"I am Liam Burrey, who are you?"

Upon hearing Liam's response, the voice on the other end was ecstatic. "Grandmaster, I'm really sorry for calling you like this, but I had no other choice!"

Even through the phone, the excitement the other end tried to hide could be felt, accompanied by a desperate, tearful urgency. "I'm Lucy Hill from the Hill family in Qyn Province. Three years ago, you saved my grandfather's life. Do you remember? My grandfather is now critically ill. I beg you, please help my grandfather again!"

The Hill family of the Qyn Province!

Anyone from Qyn Province would be stunned at the mention of the family.

The Hill family was the dominant force in Qyn Province; a stomp of their foot would shake the entire province. With several publicly listed companies under its banner, its influence spanned both politics and business.

Compared to the Hill family, the Lloyd family was merely a small ant!

In fact, the Lloyd family's achievements were closely related to those of the Hill family. Ever since the Lloyd family inexplicably received some orders from the Hill family three years ago, they had soared to success!

Furthermore, Lucy was Julian Hill's most beloved granddaughter and the current head of the Hill family. She managed half of the Hill family's industries and was groomed to be the next successor of the Hill family!

Yet, such a prestigious family humbly called Liam for help?

Moreover, the next head of the Hill family personally called Liam with a pleading tone.

If Serena were present, one could only imagine her shock. She had wanted to thank the Hill family for their help for years. Even so, Serena had never met anyone from the Hill family.

Liam, whom she found annoying and useless, actually made Lucy call personally, desperately pleading for help!

Who would have thought?

Liam frowned and lightly said, "I don't remember anyone from the Hill family, but since you did, you should also know my rule. I could only treat anyone once."

With that, he hung up the phone.

It would have shocked anyone who witnessed that and left them in disbelief!

The beloved granddaughter of the head of the Hill family in Qyn Province personally called for help, yet Liam casually hung up on them.

To put it bluntly, No one in Qyn Province would dare to do so!

However, unexpectedly, the disconnected phone rang once more.

Clearly, the other party did not care that Liam had hung up on them. Instead, they continued to desperately plead.

Watching the incessantly ringing phone, Liam shook his head and answered the call once more.

As soon as the call connected, Lucy, now filled with tears, could no longer contain her distress. "Grandmaster Burrey, I know your rules of medical treatment! I beg you! Please, save my grandfather one more time!

"As long as you promise to see my grandfather, we will fulfill whatever conditions you set."

Through the phone, one could sense Lucy's helplessness and pleading.

Liam sighed and said, "The reason I won't intervene a second time is because those I've tried to save once and failed, there's simply no reason to try again. Life, aging, sickness, death, that's the way of the world. We shouldn't force it."

His voice was calm and indifferent.

"Grandmaster Burrey, if my grandfather had been just ill, I wouldn't have asked you for help! But that's not the case! Three days ago, my grandfather suddenly collapsed into a coma. We searched all over Qyn Province. We concluded that my grandfather wasn't just sick, he was poisoned!

"If it weren't for that, I wouldn't dare to disturb you! He's not just going through the natural course of life; please, I beg you, come and see my grandfather!"

Lucy's eyes were red with tears as she held the slip of paper with Liam's phone number, her hand trembling faintly. "My grandfather is a good and kind-hearted man. He has been doing good deeds all his life, building many nursing homes and orphanages. He shouldn't suffer like this!"

Over the past few days, she had tried everything but to no avail!

It was only through her family's elders that Lucy learned three years ago her grandfather's fatal illness was not a mysterious self-recovery but rather by the assistance of a miracle doctor.

At that time, Julian took the enormous risk of leaving the provincial capital to seek out this miracle doctor.

However, Julian had kept silent about this matter all along, never mentioning it once. If someone could save Julian again, perhaps it would only be this miracle doctor.

Lucy searched the entire Lloyd family, exhausted all methods, and finally obtained Liam's contact information.

Liam was Lucy's last straw of hope!

As Lucy spoke, Liam suddenly recalled.

Three years ago, it seemed that he did indeed treat such an old man.

He sighed softly and said, "If that's the case, then I'll make a trip."
