Chapter 6

As the Lloyd Group continued to expand under Serena's leadership, the status of the Lloyd family members soared. Etchen, who had always been useless and aimless, took advantage of the Lloyd family's influence to gather a group of useless friends and roam around. Ordinary people would be afraid to provoke them.

"You lazy kid, stop fooling around! You're not a kid anymore. Why don't you do something meaningful?" Hailey pretended to scold Etchen but could not help but smile.

"I do want to do something! It's just that my sister won't let me run a company. Don't worry, Mom, once I take over the cafe, I'll make something of myself!" Etchen shrugged.

Soon, the two arrived at the door of Liam's room, according to the room number.

"He is even living in the presidential suite!" Seeing the room where Liam lived, the two widened their eyes in disbelief, feeling angry.

Not long after Liam hung up the phone, there was a sudden banging on the door.

"So soon?" Liam frowned. He thought it was Lucy who had arrived, but the intense knocking was particularly rude.

Putting down his phone, Liam approached the door. He was taken aback when he saw the two people standing outside.

"Mom and Etchen, why are you both here?" Liam originally thought only Hailey was coming. He momentarily forgot to address them differently after years of habit.

A touch of disgust flashed across Hailey's originally gloomy face when she heard that. However, before she could say anything, Etchen raised an eyebrow and looked at Liam with disdain. "What? You're staying in the presidential suite now, and we can't come?"

With that, Etchen and Hailey squeezed past Liam and arrogantly sat on the sofa in the suite.

Liam furrowed his brow. He had always known what kind of person his former brother-in-law was. If it were not for Serena, Liam would not have chosen to take the blame for him and ended up in prison.

However, he said nothing since Etchen and Hailey came to visit him.

Hailey spoke as she sat on the sofa, casting a sidelong glance at Liam, "Liam, I know about you and Serena.

"I figured you would have known. You must know that our divorce isn't solely Serena's fault. Don't blame her for it." Liam let out a sigh, intending to explain a few things to Hailey. Before he could finish, Hailey interrupted him.

"What do you mean it's not just Serena's fault? The divorce is definitely because of you! You've just been released from prison. How could you possibly be worthy of Serena? If Serena hadn't disobeyed me, I would have had you two divorced long ago while you were still in prison!" Hailey said impatiently, looking irritated.

"You advised her to get a divorce while I was in prison?" Liam was taken aback.

He had assumed that Hailey had come specifically to console him. After all, his mother-in-law had expressed her fondness for him more than once since they got married. Liam had not even considered that Hailey would act this way!

"Then what? Keep dragging down our Lloyd family if you stayed? You had no ambition even before going to prison. Can't you be more self-awareness?" Hailey sneered.

"What self-awareness could he possibly have? If he had any self-awareness, he wouldn't be shamelessly using our family's assets to stay in a five-star hotel!" Etchen mocked.

"What are you talking about? What does me staying in a hotel have to do with you?" Liam's face darkened.

"What does it have to do with us? If it weren't for the property Serena gave you, could a convict like you afford a five-star hotel? Furthermore, you're not allowed to call me 'mom' anymore. Are you afraid others won't know you were once married to Serena? Don't be so shameless. Serena deserves better than you!" Hailey's eyes widened as she said sharply.

"Serena must be cursed to have a former husband like you!"

Liam felt a surge of anger rising in his chest.

Hailey's visit had nothing to do with comforting him. It was to humiliate him.

"Don't worry, I have no interest in Serena's property! I don't even care about those things. Furthermore, staying in this hotel has nothing to do with the Lloyd family. If you're worried about me spending your money, you can leave!" Liam said, taking a deep breath to calm himself down.

Liam had refrained from taking action, merely asking them to leave. It was evident that he was already doing his best to control his temper.
