Chapter 7

However, what Liam said flew over Etchen's head.

"You don't care about the property? Liam, are you joking with me? You, a former convict, wouldn't qualify to stay in a five-star hotel without my sister's money! How dare a waste like you be so self-righteous?" he sneered.

Hailey interrupted Etchen with a wave of her hand. "Etchen, you don't need to waste your breath on him! We all know what kind of person this former convict is. After all, he spent four years in prison. Let's be magnanimous and not bother with these trivial matters."

She sat on the sofa, adopting a condescending posture. "Liam, spend your other petty cash as you wish, but I heard that your condition for divorcing Serena is taking over a cafe?"

"Taking over a cafe?" Liam furrowed his brow. Back then, the cafe was something Serena begged him to keep, and he had no intention of accepting it.

How could Hailey twist the truth so easily?

"Isn't that right? Let me tell you, Liam, everyone knows their own worth. We wouldn't mind if you took a little money from Serena, but what were you thinking, daring to demand a cafe worth millions as a condition of the divorce?" Hailey scoffed.

"I've lived for decades and never seen anything like this. You've held Serena back for so long, yet instead of considering her, you dare to demand a cafe worth millions as a condition for divorce!

"Liam, I never realized how shameless you are!"

What?

The anger in Liam's heart surged suddenly. The true purpose of this former mother-in-law personally coming to humiliate him was for the transfer agreement of that cafe Serena had given him!

Liam finally saw the extent of Hailey's shamelessness!

"Oh, you mean the cafe Serena insisted I take? I didn't know it was worth millions. I only agreed because it was the very spot where Serena and I first met." His eyes blazed with fury as he pointed to the torn scraps strewn on the floor beside him. "That worthless transfer agreement? I tore it up ages ago!"

"What?" Etchen dashed over and picked up the torn shreds. After piecing them together and confirming it was indeed the transfer agreement for the cafe, Etchen's eyes welled up with anger.

"Look at the mess you've made!" He turned, glaring daggers at Liam.

Etchen's initial plan was to take the transfer agreement from Liam and sign it himself, claiming the coffee shop as his own. But who knew Liam had torn it up?

"Hmm?" Hailey was taken aback, a hint of suspicion flashing in her eyes. A cafe worth millions. Why would an ex-convict refuse it? What was the point of her and Etchen coming here if that was the case?

Hailey's face darkened.

Then, she noticed something on the nearby table: a golden silk pouch embroidered with a unicorn left open.

Hailey could see the rows of dazzling golden light emanating from within the pouch. Her expression turned even darker.

"So, Liam, you're quite audacious!" Hailey lifted her head, glaring fiercely at Liam. "I knew you wouldn't be satisfied with just the cafe. You had to go after something even more valuable from Serena!"
