Vivienne
At school.
It’s P.E time. I am the one who has been asked to put the markings in the field. I took the field line marking machine and started doing the markups for our running activity. Chelsea and Sheena were waving at me at the bleacher on the right. I smiled and approached them once I finished doing the task that was given to me.
“Hey!” I greeted them.
“Gosh! You look pale Vivienne!” Chelsea exclaimed “Haven’t you checked your face in the mirror? You looked like a zombie.”
I patted my face and gently slapped my cheeks to make them a little redder.
“That must be the outcome of doing a lot of part-time jobs.” Sheena snorted. “You must pick one and let go of the other one.”
“Come one! I can handle the two.”
“Why are you working so hard? Can’t your Mom provide
Raylie Thore quickly turned to me. “What?” “Fire her.” I sternly said. Thore shook his head. “If there’s someone who needs to fire her, it’s you.” I frowned. My face suddenly turned grim. What is he talking about? Was he trying to infuriate me? Well, I know I can’t threaten Thore, but I would not back down as well. I need to keep Vivienne near my sight. Especially during her part-time job. “You said she’s working in your laundry company at night shift. People’s body could easily deteriorate when they lack sleep. Especially at night.” I was rendered speechless. Thore was right. That must be the reason why Vivienne’s immunity had weakened. She lacks sleep. She’s often late coming to school and I knew it’s because she woke up late. And now, she was pale. Her lips were dry. Why didn’t I notice all
Vivienne Mom arrived at the hospital, panting. Deep worry was all over her face. “What happened? Are you okay?” Mom asked worriedly. It’s a long drive from the heart of the city. And seeing her in her working uniform, I couldn’t imagine she left her work just to come here. “I’m fine, Mom. It’s just a stomach.” I felt so embarrassed. I was sent to the hospital for having a stupid stomach upset. “You should have not come. I’m really fine and it’s nothing serious.” “How can I not come? Having a stomach upset that makes you faint isn’t just nothing.” I sighed as she checked me. Railey suddenly entered, holding a paper bag of take-out food. “Oh, Railey… I mean, young master. I heard you are the one who brought Vivienne here to the hospital. Thank you so much!” Railey smiled and nodded. “It’s nothing, Mrs. Alfonso. Anyone will do that.” He put down the paper bag on the side table. “
VivienneI got released from the hospital right after I finished my IV. Railey insisted on driving us home though Mom and I kept declining the offer. Mom was grateful enough to Railey for paying my hospital bill.In the end, he still drives us home.“I’ll get going, Mrs. Alfonso.” Railey politely said. “And for Vivienne to get enough rest.”Mom and I nodded.“Take care, young master.”Railey went to his car and drove away. I turned to enter the gate to our house. Mom followed me with my school bag that my friends brought to the hospital.Vianna was home already. She greeted us and hugged Mom.“How are you, big sis?” Vianna turned to me. "I heard what happened."“I’m good.” I smiled at her, a little embarrassed. "It's embarrassing, you know. I got hospitalized because of stomach cramps."“I
Vivienne“R-Raylie!” I exclaimed. I was surprised to see him outside of our gate. “What are you doing—”I stopped talking when he suddenly tossed off something towards me. To my surprise, my reflexes quickly worked and I caught it.A key?I turned to Railey. “What is this?”“Are you an idiot? Don’t you know what that is? That’s a key.”“I know it’s a key but why are you giving me this?”He pointed something with a snout, just right in my back. I turned back.I gasped. My eyes widened. It’s a brand new scooter!I turned back to Railey. He just shrugged.“Why are you so poor? I can’t bear seeing you always running towards the gate of the school. I wanted to give you a car but I know you will decline since you prefer a scooter. So, take it at least.”I threw m
Railey I was all smiles the whole time of the class discussion. She took my hand. Was she trying to give me the initiative? I don’t know. Vivienne was so hard to predict. But then, I was still happy. Breaktime came. I was about to approach Vivienne but she went with Chelsea and Sheena. I hurried to them and blocked their way. “Aren’t you going to eat with me?” I asked. “Huh?” She asked, confused. “Why would I do that? I am with my friends.” I frowned. “Silly! I guess it’s your first time being in a relationship. Of course, that’s the normal thing that teen couples do. Eat together. Go out together.” “We are not teen couples.” Vivienne cut Chelsea out. I was stunned. Did I assume too much? Is grabbing my hands didn’t mean anything to her? I gritted my teeth in embarrassment. “Then, why did you come to school together? Why are you holding hands?” Vivienne seemed to get
VivienneI frowned at my food tray. The servers from the cafeteria seem too odd. They keep putting a lot of food in my tray. It seems doubled with the servings of the other students.“Enjoy your food.” Said the last server. I just nodded and smiled.I’m done taking my food and was about to come to our table when Raylie suddenly took my food tray.“Hey!” I snapped but he didn’t turn back.He continued going to their table with the food trays. I frowned and followed him to complain about what he was doing. He put down the tray of food. The twins and Thore turned to him.“I'm going to eat with Sheena and Chelsea at the next table.” I proclaimed and was about to take back my food tray. But Raylie stopped me.“Sit down.” And he pulled my wri
Vivienne“You’re fired. This is your last pay, Ms. Alfonso.”“Huh, wait? What is going on? Why am I being fired?”I started to panic. When the guards told me not to time in and continued to the office first, I got confused. But I didn’t anticipate this. That I will be fired. Why?What did I do?“Making an absence without prior notice.” The admin said and sighed. As if he didn’t mean to do it but he has no choice.“That’s it? I just made an absence once and I was already fired? That’s unfair!” I complained. I can’t just take this lame reasoning.“That’s the memo, Ms. Alfonso. I was just doing my job. I’m sorry.”“That’s not fair. You can’t just f
RaylieI was a jerk. I felt like I was being a jerk. I don’t even have the guts to tell her I am the one who decided for her dismissal. But it was just for her own good.Regardless, I can’t tell her. I can’t gamble the chance that she’ll get angry with me. Our relationship just started and I don’t want to end it just yet. I don’t want it to come to an end.I sighed. “Don’t you think it’s for the better? You can rest all night and you would be able to come to school on time. You don’t have to rush.”“You don’t understand. I need that job.” She said, trying hard to conceal her sobs. Did she really think I would never notice? “Even if it’s bruising my ego to work in the company we once owned, I still did. It’s my only life line to continue my studies. So, how come it was for the better?
Vivienne It’s been a month and I am always there at Raylie’s villa, taking care of him while sharing with him the lessons that we had at school. He insisted on making me stay in the villa and I agreed just because he has to recover from his wounds and fractures. I told him I’ll be back in the apartment once he is fully recovered. Sometimes, I thought he was just faking the pain already just to keep me in the villa. His face was totally healed and he can walk already. Sometimes he was still limping and complained he was in pain but I usually caught him walking straightly. Just like now. He was walking on the pavement in his garden. It’s Saturday morning and we usually hang out in his garden during weekend mornings. I fished out my phone from my pocket and took a video of him walking. Then I silently walked towards him. “Boyfriend!” I yelled behind his back. Raylie seemed to be startled and stopped walking on the pavement. He started to
Raylie When I opened my eyes, I was in a hospital suite. Vivienne was there. And her eyes were red. I guess she was crying, again. “Oh, my God! You’re awake!” Vivienne quickly hugged me. I gathered her to my chest. “How long have I been asleep?” I whispered. “Almost twenty-four hours.” “And I guess you were crying for more than twenty-four hours. Look at your eyebags. Did you even take a nap?” “How could I sleep? You haven’t woken up since you collapsed in the building!” She hissed and let go of me. “And what kind of brain do you have? Why didn’t you call the police? You should not go there alone!” Vivienne started to nagged. “Right, you should not go there alone.” Logan entered the room together with Loki and Thore. “You’re such a fool! Wh
Raylie I asked Vivienne to live in the condo unit I took for her but she insisted on moving into the old apartment they used to live in. She said she paid for the rent for the whole Spring season. She felt better staying in the place where she paid with her hard earned money rather than in a comfortable condo unit that I provided for her. I don’t get it but I just agreed. After what just happened, after what we faced, I don’t want us to fight again. “It’s been a while since we went to the park together. I want to go there again.” Said Vivienne. It’s already dark. We enjoyed hanging out together with our friends. We went to the mall after school, played arcades and ate dinner together. It’s been a while since we laughed like that. And it feels so good. “Aren’t you tired?” Vivienne shook her head. “I wanted to go t
RaylieChloe went inside my room. Surprisingly, she had my phone. She threw it above my bed, beside me. I turned to her, stunned.“How did you get this?” I asked her.“I made a deal with Dad and Mom just to get that, your cards and for you to go back to school. So, you should do better at school starting tomorrow. Don’t skip school ever again, understand? You go to school and don’t do something foolish or you’ll be locked here again.”I sighed and plopped on the bed. “How can I do that? The only reason why I am coming to school wasn't there anymore.” I lazily closed my eyes.Thore and the twins told me that Vivienne and her family moved to a small town far from here. I tried to come to her but I couldn't. And even now that Chloe made a deal with our parents, I am certain Dad won’t let me come to wh
Vivienne St. Louis was a fishing village. How can Mom make pickles here? I sighed. It’s been three days since we moved here and Mom hasn't found a job. Me as well. How can a highschool student find a job in a small town like this? I sat on the wide seawall while watching the sundown. It’s always like this everyday since the first day. Mom would go to the shoreline to buy a bunch of new catched fish and she would sell it in retail at the town. While Vianna transferred to the nearby school. I felt sorry for Vianna. I know it’s hard for her too. And me, I don’t know what to do. I haven’t processed my papers from Brixton yet. All I just want is to escape from there. I sighed. I was thinking what are they doing right now? Were they happy? Is everyone celebrating the newly engaged couple? How about Raylie. Why didn’t he come that night? Thore said that it’s Raylie
Raylie “Let me out!” I shouted at the security guard. But they just pushed me back inside the main door. “You can’t go out, young master. That’s what the master told us.” Every exit was being guarded. I was about to come and meet Thore and Vivienne that night but my father’s men blocked me. My Dad even informed them to fight me if I insisted on going. As long as I am alive, it’s fine even if I am hurt. And that’s fucking bullshit! They arrange my engagement without my knowledge! I was surprised to hear the announcement. And I am sure Vivienne was confused as hell. I wanted to explain to her. I wanted to tell her that I will break the engagement even if it will cause me and my parents to disinherit me. I don’t care! My parents were already controlling Chloe’s life and I won’t let them do it to me too. I start
Vivienne I was surprised to see that Mom was home when I came. I thought she’ll going to scold me for coming home late but she just asked me if I wanted to drink milk before going upstairs. “Why are you still awake? Were you waiting for me?” I felt guilty about that. I waited for nothing while keeping my Mom awake and waiting for me to come home. I am sure Vianna told her I went to my classmate’s birthday party. Mom gave me a soft smile. “I can’t sleep. That’s it.” Her voice was sad. I went to the counter top and sat across from her. I realized our things were packed. Why did she pack it? “What’s the matter, Mom? Is everything alright?” She smiled at me again. Then her tears rolled down. “We paid for the next month’s rent, right?” I nodded. “Actually, we pa
Vivienne We were starting to enjoy the party when the center stage was suddenly lightened up. The host took the microphone and started the show. He first presented the birthday celebrant, then the parents of Szane. I don’t know what else he was talking about but it seems to me that the party wasn’t all about the birthday celebrant but also the announcement of how their family businesses were going. “Raylie, your Mom asked me to bring you to their table.” Loki said. He just came from somewhere after taking a call. “They were here?” Raylie asked, confused. “You didn’t know?” He threw his head back then turned to me. I don’t know what to say. Raylie took my hand and pulled me to stand up. “Come. I’ll introduce you to my parents.” I started to panic and slipped my hands from his grasp.
VivienneIt’s the night of the party. Raylie picked me up at the expensive salon he rented to accommodate my needs. Well, I don’t need anything to get fixed. A light makeup and slight curls in my hair were just enough. I don’t want anything fancy. But all the simplicity I wanted had been covered with the elegance of the red gown that Raylie bought for me.Even the stilettos stand out. I don’t usually use heels but I guess, the occasion asked for it. I once wished to dress up like how I did before. And I guess, tonight is the best time to do it.“Gosh! Your prince was already waiting for you, Ms. Alfonso. Hurry up!”Suzette called out for me. She’s the one who did my hair and make up.“Thanks for everything, Ms. Suzette.” I said with a wide smile, giving my reflection a final glance.
