Yasvie felt relieved as Danyel finally agreed to leave Gianna and save their lives. But she was wrong. Danyel had had other plans.
After running a few yards up on the hill, Danyel found a nearly-perfect hiding spot filled with bushes. He stopped.
“Yasvie, hide near the bushes. I’ll get Gianna.” He already had the idea of going back.
“Sire no! Please don’t…” Yasvie did not get the chance to complete her line.
“Here, keep this dagger with you.” Danyel gave her a dagger and ran instantly.
He opened the temple door with much effort only to see Gianna falling on her knees in front of his eyes after an enemy’s sword went across her chest and belly; giving her a HUGE cut. She was not wearing a metal chest shield. Gianna went unconscious instantly. But she had managed to kill five men of Remington’s army.
Seeing this horrific incident increased Danyel’s energy. He swore to himself that he would kill each of them.
Showing off the combat skills he learnt at Elville Mountains and all, Danyel killed four men without getting a single wound. The last one was disarmed but he escaped.
Instead of following him, Danyel immediately ran to Gianna who was bleeding endlessly.
“Gianna! Look at me! Hey, open your eyes! Gianna, please! You can’t die!” Danyel screamed in shock.
He did not want another woman to die in front of him. He feared that the history would repeat itself. He had a quick flashback to his childhood, when his mother- Empress Lalina was executed. He recalled how she vomited blood after the soldiers forcibly made her drink a poisoned tea. He re-experienced the helplessness he felt that day.
But he could not just let it go. He had to act. He had to make sure that the history would not repeat.
“Gianna, open your eyes! Please!!!” Danyel shouted again. He checked her pulse to confirm that Gianna was alive. And yes, she was.
Upon hearing Danyel’s voice, Gianna slowly opened her eyes. She felt an intolerable pain spreading through her body, which made her unable to realize which parts were injured.
“Sire…” Gianna’s voice was more like a whisper.
Danyel let out a big sigh.
“Gianna, look at me. We’re all safe, okay? Now I’m going to heal your wounds. Just keep your eyes open. Keep looking at me.” Danyel said in a hurry.
Gianna’s eyes were filling with tears; not because of the pain, but because she felt that she was going to die without getting a sight of her mother.
“Hey, don’t cry. Now you’re with me, you’re safe.” Danyel tried to comfort her while trying to remove her clothes; a long-sleeved top made with cotton and some metal parts. They were wet from Gianna’s blood.
“Sire, tell my mother that I…”
“Don’t speak. It only worsens the situation. Speak when you’re healed. I’ll listen to anything.” Danyel said. He was wiping the blood on Gianna’s belly. Luckily, the cut was not too deep. But it was big.
“But in case I didn’t make it…” Gianna was speaking with all her energy.
“No, you’ll make it. I won’t let you die.” Danyel shouted.
“But, sire…”
“SHUT UP! Just look at me!” He wanted Gianna to focus on healing.
Though Danyel realized that Gianna needed a professional healer’s care, he tried to give the best first aid. Luckily, the forest was full of herbs. Danyel picked up some suitable herbs and made a pulp to put on Gianna’s wounds. But then he saw that her chest was injured too. To heal that…he should remove her inner chest cover.
“Uh…Gianna, there’s a cut on your chest. Um…I have to remove this…” Danyel said nervously.
Gianna panicked.
“No, sire. Take me to a healer if you can. A female healer I mean.” She spoke with difficulty. She did not want any man to touch her…those parts.
“But we know nothing about here. How can we find a healer in the woods? Your wounds need instant care. Listen, Gianna. You know that I don’t have feelings for you. Let me do it. I won’t harm you.” Danyel said while rubbing Gianna’s head.
“It’s not about you, sire. I just don’t want to remove my clothes in front of any man. If we can’t find a healer, I’ll die with my purity.”
“No way! If you’re not letting me do it, I’ll do it with force.” Danyel insisted. Gianna did not have the energy to fight with him. She felt her eyes closing slowly.
Hearing no response from Gianna, Danyel realized that she had gone unconscious again. Danyel had to act faster, but he was nervous.
Right at the moment which Danyel put his hand on Gianna’s chest cover, he heard a yell from behind. It was a Lisdonian girl. Danyel did not understand what she said. He did not reply.
The girl stared suspiciously at Danyel and seemingly studied the crime scene.
“Hesmian?” She narrowed her eyes.
It was easy to identify a Hesmian from a Lisdonian because Lisdonians’ skin was much fairer. But the Hesmians might be confused with Nemphitish; people of Nemphitre who also had tan skin and blackish dark brown hair.
Danyel did not answer for his own safety.
“Wait, You are that prince right?”
Danyel was still silent. The Lisdonian girl came closer and observed.
“This girl should be taken to a healer. She can be saved.” She said attentively.
Though Danyel felt suspicious and insecure, he had no other choice. No matter how risky it was, he simply could not let Gianna die.
“Can you take us to a healer?” He asked.
“Yes, let’s hurry. She’s in danger.” The Lisdonian girl helped Danyel to lift Gianna.
“By the way, I’m Kvahiya.”
Danyel nodded but did not reveal his name. Kvahiya guided him through the woods and reached a waterfall in no time. Much to Danyel’s wonder, Kvahiya stepped into the water.
“Come, it is not deep.”
Danyel was clueless, but he followed her wondering where she was leading them.
Then Kvahiya climbed on some slippery rocks and approached the waterfall. After that, she carefully went inside it. How unpredictable! A huge cave behind the waterfall that had a well-built healing house on its other end!
There were at least ten boys and girls wearing the same uniform as Kvahiya. They all smelled like fresh lemons and lotus. Inside the wooden healing house which had a mixture of various fragrances itself, Danyel met a grey-haired man who also had a long beard. Kvahiya spoke to him in Lisdonian. Danyel silently regretted not learning Lisdonian.
“Let me see her.” Danyel felt relieved when the healer spoke Hesmian. He put Gianna on the bed with much care.
Then Lokhas- the healer studied Gianna’s wound.
“The first aid…good.” He praised Danyel. Danyel was rather worried that Lokhas was slow.
“Please do something quickly. Save her, please!” He cried. Lokhas did not react.
But suddenly, he signaled Kvahiya to bring the medicines and the acupuncture kit. Then he rang a bell to inform students to come. Five girls entered the room, one by one with something in their hands. Then on, Lokhas was working very fast like a young man, as if he was suddenly awakened by a hypnotization. Danyel was asked to stay outside.
Within an hour, the healer and the students came out.
“She will be fine. Wound not deep. She will wake up. You want tea?”
“Thank you! Thank you for everything.” Danyel’s eyes were blurring with tears. He ran inside and rubbed Gianna’s head. Kvahiya served him a nice cup of cinnamon tea. Danyel enjoyed it to the last drop, as he was both starving and thirsty.
“Sorry I didn’t trust you at first.” Danyel apologized to Kvahiya. She smiled.
“No, you did. You wouldn’t have followed me if you didn’t, right?”
“I followed you only because I had no other choice. I couldn’t let her die.”
“Is she your wife?” Kvahiya was curious.
“N..no. She’s a friend. A very special friend.” Danyel glanced at Gianna dearly. Instantly, he remembered that Yasvie was still out there. How could he totally forget his very own lover?
“Damn! I have to go. Please take care of her until I return.” He hurried to run.
“You’re not leaving her here, right?”
“No, I have another person to rescue. I’ll come back with her.” Danyel left.
But when he reached the place where Yasvie was supposed to be…
…she was not there.
Though Danyel observed the entire area, he could not find a sight of her. He shouted her name loudly several times but had no response.
“What if she was captured by them? No way! Damn, this is my fault!! I shouldn’t have left her alone.” His inner voice whispered. But he wanted to be optimistic. A part of him said that Yasvie was safe.
“Maybe she found a safer place. She must have left a clue.” He looked for some clue left by Yasvie.
After a couple of minutes, Danyel found the dagger he gave Yasvie on the ground. It…had blood on it. He picked up the dagger and saw a piece of parchment attached to it. He unfolded it in a hurry.
“Dear crown prince,
We have your girl. Do not be afraid, she is safe. But we cannot promise she will always be. Just do not mind her. Keep hiding like a coward. We will make sure that she enjoys every night with us.”
Danyel was devastated. He screamed in fury. He cursed himself for leaving Yasvie alone. He imagined what Yasvie would be facing at the moment. He badly wanted to return to Hesmia and save her but did not have enough energy. After all the extreme battles, he was tired. Even if he returned, he would not be able to fight and save Yasvie.
“I need someone’s support. Otherwise, both of us will die in vain.” He was wise.
Danyel decided to get Gianna’s help.
************************************
Meanwhile, Gianna woke up to see someone familiar staring at her.
“Emse Kvahiya?”
“Long time no see, Ginger.” Kvahiya smiled.
Kvahiya was a Strian. When she found Danyel and Gianna at the temple, she immediately recognized Gianna. Just like all the other skilled Strian spies, she was fluent in Hesmian though she was a native Lisdonian like Minnah. No one could ever imagine how strong the Strian spy system was. They were everywhere.
Lokhas entered after knocking on the door. Gianna and Kvahiya pretended not to know each other. Though Gianna felt embarrassed that a man had seen her body, she replaced it with gratitude for being alive.
“Don’t get up or walk. Rest. You not dead because first aid good.”
Lokhas was not that fluent in Hesmian. Gianna realized that it was better if she spoke Lisdonian as she had good conversational skills in it.
Danyel returned to the healing house with a sad face. Although he felt relieved to see Gianna safe and sound, he knew that Yasvie was having a very hard time.
“What’s wrong, sire? Where’s Yasvie?” Gianna had sensed that something was wrong.
“They have caught her. This is my fault. What am I? I can’t even save my lover but still call myself a warrior. Damn!” Danyel spoke his mind. Gianna felt guilty.
“I’m sorry, sire. If I didn’t get this wound, you wouldn’t have left her. This happened because I’m a loser.”
Danyel did not hear what Gianna said. His focus was on Yasvie.
Will he be able to save her?
But how?
Hesmia was being prepared to welcome the new era under the new emperor. Remington was overwhelmed by the idea of sitting on the throne which he always dreamt of. In his youth, he challenged Emperor Narendra, stating that he could defeat the emperor in any form of combat skills. The reason for his overconfidence was a prediction from an astrologer whom he met while training in the Elville Mountains. The astrologer said that Remington had a kingly aura and that he could definitely rule a widely-spread nation. Emperor Narendra was shocked at his loyal friend’s sudden change. However, the emperor managed to defeat Remington in every battle. Filled with shame and rage, Remington vanished into the evening breeze without a sign. Everyone thought that he might have either changed his identity or been committed to an asylum. Merikh Remington, who was meant to be a forgotten memory, had unexpectedly returned to Hesmia with the most dramatic entrance. Nevertheless, the astrolog
The Great Empire of Hesmia has a long history of 3000 years. It was founded by 'Nihas the great'- a soldier who worked for the Findaivian (now a part of Lisdonia) Emperor. The majority of the Findaivians had fair skin, so the tan-skinned people were considered 'low'. They were given less opportunities and their rights were frequently ignored. Nihas gathered all the tan-skinned people and began a revolution. His side won the war and eventually founded the kingdom 'Hasvia' (Nihas+Findaivia). Its name changed from 'Hasvia' to 'Hasmia', then to 'Hesmia'.Nihas' descendants- known as the 'Sammata clan' continued to keep the monarchy stable. Only the sons of the queen consort were considered heirs to the throne until Princess Anantha defeated all her brothers and uncles in an all-in-one test to prove that she was the most eligible person to be the monarch. After that, Hasvian women got the opportunity to rule.Among the
Danyel came out from the hollow first. Gianna left the hollow only after Danyel confirmed that the villagers had gone. Seeing each other in the bright light was more awkward. Gianna kept staring at the ground while Danyel tried to explain the situation. He could not stop stuttering. “Um…I just… I just wanted to uh, stop you from screaming. If they heard you…um, it would be bad. That’s why I… Gianna, I’m so sorry.” “I-I understand you, sire.” Gianna stuttered too. She wanted to pretend that she did not like it, but she could not deny that she had already developed feelings for Danyel. She just did not know when it started. “You know what, let’s forget it. Let’s both erase it from our memory, alright? Whatever happened between us was a mistake. No need to make it a big deal.” Danyel said while avoiding Gianna’s eyes. Though Gianna nodded and agreed, inside, she felt sorrowful. A man kissed her and awakened her feelings, but immediately told her to forge
The former emperor- Narendra was locked in a prison chamber. His hands were tied to the wall with chains. Remington ordered not to give him any food, but Narendra received a glass of water once a day. Though he was shot by an arrow in his heart, was tortured, and starved for two days, Narendra did not die. He wished to see Danyel saving the nation before his death. But he knew that he did not have much time left. In the evening, Nimue visited him with Nimie. Narendra recognized them and wanted to shout at Nimue but he had no strength to do so. “Look who we have here. Does he look like an Emperor to you, Nimie?” Nimue laughed wildly. Nimie silently stared at Narendra. “NIMUE!! You traitor!! Why did you do this? Why?” Narendra spoke with all the energy he had. “I told you to make me the empress, didn’t I? At least you should have made my daughter a princess. You’re just paying for your faults, Narendra. You deserve this.” “How dare you say my na
Danyel was kicked several times by the Lisdonian soldiers on the way. Those kicks did not hurt him a bit because the inner pain was already hurting him intolerably. Lisdonians mocked him and cursed him but Danyel did not understand what they said. He did not bother to listen to them. His mind was preoccupied with Yasvie. Every memory that he shared with her began to show in front of his eyes, one by one. The girl that he loved with his whole heart had betrayed him for money. He still could not believe it. When the men just reached an area that had a lot of tall trees, a Lisdonian soldier’s neck got hit by an arrow. Everyone looked in the direction in which the arrow came from. Two more men were killed the same way as the first soldier. Eswenth and the Lisdonians prepared their swords while Danyel checked around in wonder. A group of masked people suddenly emerged from behind the trees. There were more of them than the Lisdonians and they seemed more skilled.
Although Kvahiya said that Gianna might not wake up for days, she woke up at the midnight. Waking up, she saw a young man beside her. Prince Danyel had come to rescue her!! She spoke in excitement. “Sire, I thought I was going to die. But you’ve come! Thank…” “Gianna, it’s me, Amell.” It was Amell and not Danyel? “Oh! Sorry, Amell. I didn’t recognize you.” Gianna tried to sit with Amell’s help. She felt a bit sad and awkward. “Careful! Gianna, actually, his imperial highness is here. The prince asked us not to disturb him. We’re on the way to Nemphitre.” Just after Gianna stood up, Danyel reached the duo. “Hey, you woke up. Are you alright now?” Gianna nodded. She felt relieved that Danyel was fine, but she understood that he was attacked by someone. “Sire, you have some wounds. Were you attacked? Oh, where’s Yasvie?” Danyel’s face darkened. The person that he wanted to have vanished from his memory was
Minnah and the others approached the healing house after crossing the waterfall and passing the cave. Gladly, Lokhas was not there. Otherwise, he would have wondered how they knew the hidden entrance. The healing house had two parts. One was open to an urban area in Lisdonia and the hidden part was always kept a secret. It had a history of centuries. Only the most talented and trustworthy students got the opportunity just to know that a hidden part existed. One of them would become the next head of the healing house. The hidden part had served as a way of escaping to the Lisdonian royal family since it was built. Kvahiya was a bit surprised to see the Strians, but she expected someone to come for Gianna. “Minnie!” That was Minnah’s nickname among her seniors. “Emse Kvahiya, it’s glad to see you again. Did Ginger come here?” Minnah uttered while observing around. Minnah and Kvahiya continued the conversation in Hesmian because there was a risk that the
Danyel returned to his chamber after talking with Rej. His face had darkened. After thinking for a moment, he went on and knocked on the door of Gianna’s chamber. Gianna opened it expecting the monks who treated her. She was rather surprised to see Danyel. “What is the matter, sire? Are we moving out today?” Gianna was curious. Danyel did not say anything for a moment. “Gianna, I-I have something to tell you.” What was he going to tell her out of the blue? Was he going to confess his love or something? Gianna wondered. “Go on, sire. I’m listening.” “Gianna… you know that… that we’re in a serious situation. We need help. We need a lot of help. Without it, we can’t do anything. But… people just do not help us for nothing. They expect… something in return.” Seeing the guilty expression on Danyel’s face, Gianna felt impatient. “Come to the point.” “Well, Gianna… you know, Rej… he did so many things for us. If it was
Bingi was fallen onto Amell’s lap because of his sudden grab. Their faces were really close. They almost kissed. Bingi’s heartbeat fastened rapidly that she feared it would explode. It was not the case for Amell. He pushed her away, which made Bingi end up in the river.“Darn it. You made all my clothes wet. Is this how you avenge for seeing your abs?” Bingi shouted.“Don’t tell anyone what you saw. I’ll kill you if you do.” Amell threatened while wearing his long shirt.Bingi was clueless. She neither knew what he meant nor saw the scar on his back.“What? Others… don’t know that you’ve got abs?” She asked in confusion.Amell did not believe her. He guessed that she was pretending.“Don’t act like a baby. I know you saw it. You can’t fool everyone with your baby face, kid.” He was still glaring.“Don’t call me a kid. I&r
Remington kept ignoring Nimue’s request to appoint Nimie as the crown princess. He made a strictly confidential document that said that in case of his death, Hesmia would become a state under Lisdonia. It was a secret deal between the Lisdonian emperor and Remington.Nimue was totally unsatisfied with how Remington ruled, not taking any of her advice or instructions. She already regretted bringing him to power. But she could not go against him and join Danyel either.Nimie frequently did what she usually does when she is bored; sitting in the royal stable with her stallion- Sword. When she was young, she used to practice horse riding with Danyel. The duo shared a lot of time together, trying various games. They were very ideal as siblings. But after he went to the Elville Mountains, their bond weakened. Nimie was constantly mistreated and ignored by Narendra.Danyel had no idea about her situation, but he did not care enough to send her letters. That way,
The island ‘Stri’ was founded two hundred and fifty years ago. It was founded by a group of women who were continuously abused by worldwide traditions. Location:- Stri is situated in the Taedian Ocean. It is located in the south of Yelonhta, in the east of Cholaivia, and the west of Jor islands. Founding:- 250 years ago, Ahnia Sietomaya, a depressed Lisdonian woman left her house, who decided that she could no longer tolerate being abused by her husband and his family. The reason behind their abusive behavior was that Ahnia gave birth to a girl, instead of a boy as the first child. Back then, noble families believed that having a daughter as the eldest child would bring misfortune to the family. Ahnia took her six months old daughter and left the mansion. She was determined to find a place where she could raise her daughter properly. When she walked on the road and passed many towns, people stared at her and gave her weird glances because back in those days, it was rare for a w
“Fine. I’ll stay for a while. I want to fight too. But if anything goes wrong, I’ll be heading home without any second thoughts.” Gianna said. Danyel smiled. Gianna ignored him. “If you’re so sure about it, I’ll leave Bingi with you. She knows the way.” Minnah said. “Alright, Emse Minnah. Let me give you a letter for my mother.” Then Gianna began to write on a piece of parchment with an inked feather. “Dear Mother, I am safe. Glad you were rescued. I’m staying with the Hesmians to help them. I’ll come when this is over. I love you. Ginger.” After bidding farewell to the three Strians, Gianna returned to the villa. Danyel was sitting on a bench outside Gianna’s room. “Ginger, it is.” He said, laughing. “Yes, that’s what they call me. You know, it has its own secret code. When I put ‘Ginger’ at the end of a letter, it means I’m safe. If I put ‘Gianna’, they’ll know I ain’t safe. But I never got to use it, actually.” “So… since it’s your nickname, shall I call you ‘Ginger’?” “
Amell looked in the direction in which he heard a woman sneeze. He prepared his sword and stepped forward. His soldiers followed him. “Who’s there?” Amell directed his sword at Bingi. Bingi had the sword but she did not want to raise her sword against her crush. For a moment, she was stuck in an imaginary world, seeing Amell so close. His not-so-messy black and short hair, tan skin, brave gaze, and the overall warrior vibe made Bingi feel weird sensations all over her body. She did not even notice that Amell was preparing to cut her down, suspecting her as Remington’s person. Fortunately, Minnah and the others came on time. They directed their swords at the Hesmians. Amell felt that some of those girls’ faces were familiar, but he was not sure. “Who are you? Why are you following us?” Amell asked. “We’re not following you. We’re Strians. We’re looking for princess Gianna. We heard that she’s with you.” Minnah stated confidently. Lia and Bingi glanced at each other because they kn
When Danyel re-entered the room, he saw that Gianna was slowly opening her eyes.“Gianna, you woke up?”It took some time for Gianna to recall what happened. When she was done recalling, she could not stop feeling endlessly furious. She pushed away Danyel’s hand.“DON’T TOUCH ME!” She shouted. Danyel was rather shocked.“Gianna, it’s okay. You’re with me now. Rej’s gone. So don’t be afraid.” Danyel began to pat her but Gianna pushed him again.“I said don’t touch me. Just piss off. I hate all men.”She was yet to recover from the shock she got because of Rej’s actions.“But, Gianna, we saved you right on the time. He couldn’t do anything to you.”That statement only caused the sudden increase in Gianna’s anger.“WHAT? Couldn’t do anything? Don’t you see all the wounds on my face and hands? He punched me. He kicked me. And the worst… HE KISSED ME!!” She cried in endless rage.Danyel looked down. He could not understand how to respond. Gianna tried to sit without Danyel’s help but faile
It took some time for Gianna to recall what happened. She looked around observantly to find any clue about where she was. After a moment, Rej entered the chamber. He seemed unnecessarily proud of his act.“Hey, sweetie. Remember how angry you became when I just winked at you? What about now? Who’s going to help you? Even you can’t help yourself. Oh! Your prince Danyel? Not even a chance! He sold you to me. He never wanted you. He even hated the idea of showing you as his wife.” Rej went on.He removed his upper clothes and showed off his muscular chest. Gianna felt disgusted. She turned her face away from him.“But, I… saw your beauty. I admired it. I was very kind towards you, but you didn’t accept my kindness. And now, this is the price you have to pay for it.” Laughing wickedly, he rubbed Gianna’s cheeks.Gianna kept glaring at him but did not waste her energy struggling. Inside, she was thinking o
