ADRIANNA
The food came in right after, different foods were placed in front of us and it was very hard not to admire. My taste buds and stomach were screaming hungry, I could feel myself salivating. I kept my eyes fixed on the steaming dishes in front of me, the savory aroma of roasted chicken and slow-cooked meat tantalizing my senses. I looked up at Ethan, to see what he was doing, and I was caught off guard. He was staring at me, his elbow on the table and his hand on his face supporting it. I gave out a little blush, my cheeks red in embarrassment. He was probably wondering why I was so enticed by the food, but I didn’t know why either. I just felt so hungry and was only thinking about how I was going to devour the food. “I’m so sorry, am i embarrassing?” I said as I slumped my shoulders. He looked at me and laughed. “No you are not, you look so cute” he said as he moved closer to touch my cheek but he stopped abruptly, retracting his hands back slowly. “Let’s eat” he said as he took up his cutlery and began to dig into his food. I did the same too. ******* “Thank you for the meal, it was so nice” I said as I used a tissue to wipe my mouth. The meal was really delicious and went so well with my taste buds. “I’m glad you like it,” he replied, with a smile. We looked at each other for a while, before I broke the silence. “So, about your proposal” I began. My eyes immediately became fierce, my smile disappearing immediately. I looked at him. I had already made a decision, I knew what I wanted. “I will marry you,” I said. He looked at me, his eyes holding excitement. “But” I said, and immediately I said that, I could see the excitement vanish from his eyes. “I am only doing this because of two things,” I added. “I want a father figure for my baby, and I want revenge” I said, looking him straight in the eyes. My eyes held pain, after i said those last words. Revenge. I wanted nothing more than to see Raymond and Jasmine crumble. I wanted to crush them with my own bare hands, I wanted them to kneel in front of me and beg to be spared. I wasn’t going to ever forget what they did to me, the pain they made me go through, the pain I felt when I saw Jasmine on top of Raymond. I wanted to get them back, to make them feel how I felt. I gave a little smirk. “Revenge?” I heard Ethan say, bringing me out of my thoughts. “Yes revenge, I want to take revenge on Raymond and my sister Jasmine for all they did to me. I want to cause them pain, so much pain that they would be begging for death, "I said, as I looked at him. “Also like i said before, i am only agreeing to get married to you because i want my child to have a father” “With that been said, there’s going to be a no falling in love rule, we would both have to agree to stay out of each other’s life” “I would stay out of yours and you can stay out of mine,” “No kissing, no sex or intimate lifestyle” I said. “Is that understood?” I said, settling back down on the chair with both of my hands crossed. I knew I was being harsh with my conditions, but I just didn’t want to be hurt again. I had given my all, my everything to someone I thought loved me so dearly, only for him to shatter my heart into pieces like it never mattered to him. I was not even planning to fall in love anytime soon or even ever again, plus I don’t even really know this man. I mean yes I knew he was Raymond’s elder brother, but nothing more and nothing less. I looked at him, waiting for an answer. If he wasn’t ready to accept my conditions, then I might as well walk away and forget about all these. “Hmmm” he began, his voice calm. “Is that all?” He said as he looked at me and gave a smile. Is that all what? Yes that was all, or was there anything I forgot to add? “Yes,” I replied. He gave me a smile. “Okay then, that is fine by me” he said. “You’ll move into my house, while we prepare for the wedding” Hold on a second, move in? Wedding? I have to go through all that stress? “We are having a wedding? I asked, my face laced with confusion. “Of course, i have to marry you legally, you are going to be my official wife” he said as he looked at me like i just asked a stupid question. “Ehm, will it be an elaborate wedding?” I asked, my palms sweaty. “Do you want it to be?” He asked. “No,” I replied almost immediately. Having an elaborate wedding was going to be bad for my revenge. I needed to lay low for a while before I strike. “Okay, it won’t be,” he said. “Get your things ready by tomorrow, you will move in with me” he said as he looked at me. I sat there speechless, as the realization hit me, this was really happening.ADRIANNA“You know I love you right?” Raymond said to me as he cupped my face with both hands.I felt so happy to hear those words from him, those reassuring words before our wedding. Of course I knew he loved me, we had been together for two years and he had been the sweetest ever since.“Are you sure Ray Ray?” I asked him, even though I already knew the answer to that question. “Definitely” he responded to me with his reassuring smile that seemed to always take my burdens away.I sighed as I turned to walk towards the direction of the mirror that was in my room. I stood before the mirror, admiring myself. I was dressed in a shiny yellow dress, embellished with beautiful rhinestones and nice black heels, that went so well with my dress. I had always hated the idea of wearing a white dress during your own wedding, so I opted to go for a shiny, beautiful yellow dress that was also my favourite colour. The mirror before me, revealed a radiant soul, with a glow that shone from within, a
ADRIANNAMy heart felt like it could stop working at any moment. The wedding was in thirty minutes, and it all still felt like a dream to me. All these didn’t feel real. I began to suddenly feel suffocated, making it very hard for me to breathe. I took a very long deep breath and began to calm my nerves. I was so nervous. I was getting married to the man of my dreams and it all felt like I was dreaming. I was getting ready, adjusting my dress, when someone entered. I turned around, to look at the person and immediately let out a wide smile. My sister had come in to see me. She was looking very gorgeous, dressed in a wedding-like white dress, which I found quite weird but decided to ignore. She had her hair packed up in a beautiful and neat ponytail, that was adorned with different beautiful flowers. She walked up to me, with her arms wide open, embracing me in a lovely and comforting hug.“Oh, I am so happy for you” she said to me as she let go of me after the hug. Her gentle hands ma
ETHANThe club was quite noisy tonight. I could see just a few people on the line waiting to get inside. I got close to the door and showed the guard my VIP card and he immediately let me in. I stepped into the club, and the loud music enveloped me like a living entity. The air was electric, thick with the smell of sweat and alcohol. Disco lights danced across the crowded room, casting a sinister light on the sea of faces. I squinted, my eyes adjusting slowly to the chaos. The club was a maze of dark corners and flashing lights, with a bar that stretched like a surface along one wall. The crowd was a blur of motion, bodies moving and colliding with each other, dancing to the beat of the music. I looked around and everywhere looked lively, with people moving around, dancing, talking or just standing listening to the music. But there was something that stood out to me, or rather someone.A woman was sitting by the counter, her presence disheartening. She looked vulnerable. I could not r
ADRIANNAI cracked open my eyes, and a piercing light stabbed into my brain like a thousand knives. I groaned, my head throbbing with a dull, relentless ache. I tried to lift my hand to shield my eyes, but even that small movement sent a wave of nausea crashing over me. I looked around slowly, taking in my surroundings, but my eyes widened immediately. I was in an unfamiliar room, with no recollection of how I got here. Panic set in as I scrambled to piece together the events of the previous night. That was when I looked beside me and fear gripped me immediately. There was an unknown figure, beside me, sleeping on the bed with me, a complete stranger. I looked down, praying that whatever thought I had was not true, but fate seemed like it wasn’t on my side. I slowly looked behind the blanket that was raised to my chest and I was completely naked. I screamed in fear, realizing what had just happened. I wanted to believe what I thought was not real and it never happened, but with what I
ADRIANNAMy world felt like it could collapse at any moment. My palms felt dry, but also felt sweaty. My body became hot, my ears red and eyes started to become watery. The words from Raymond, still ringing in my ears.I looked at him in disbelief, searching through his eyes for a lie. I wanted him to tell me at that moment, that he was lying and this man standing right here, this supposed stranger was not his brother. But it never came, it never came out from his mouth.“What do you mean your elder brother?” I finally said, after standing there in shock for a few minutes.I looked around, Raymond and Jasmine, were looking at me so confused. I did not even care at that moment how they looked at me, I just wanted to understand what was happening.“Yes Adrianna, he is my elder brother I told you about, that stays overseas and I rarely ever get to see him because he is always busy and working for our company, as the CEO”. he replied to me, looking at me weirdly. “What is the matter? Why
ADRIANNA This was never the type of life I wished for. I wanted a perfect life, a perfect marriage life, a perfect family, I wanted to be happy. It seemed like fate was against my wishes. I dragged my suitcase around the city, looking for a place to stay. I had some savings with me, I just had to find a good apartment to stay in. I was not sure if that was going to be possible, since it was already six in the evening. After a while of walking, I sighted a hotel that looked very much okay to stay the night. I walked into the lobby, to the front desk. I asked the receptionist what rooms were available, and she told me there were single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and a suite, welcoming me with a smile. I returned the smile back to her, feeling a little bit motivated. I booked a single room to stay for the night. I took the keys from the receptionist, making my way to my designated room. The room looked very much okay, although it was not really spacious. The room held
ADRIANNA A knock on the door woke the tired me. I stretched my hand towards the nightstand stool, to take my phone and check the time. It was past seven in the morning. I yawned as i stood up from the bed, walking groggily to the door. It was so early in the morning, i wasn't expecting anybody, because i was sure nobody knew where i lived as i had just bought this place yesterday. I checked the peephole and i saw two people standing outside the door. A woman and a young man. I opened the door immediately and the question that was asked threw me off. "Who are you? And what are you doing here?" The woman before me asked. My eyes widened at that question. What did she mean by who was i? She came to my house, so why was she asking me who i was? Wasn't she supposed to know? "What?" I replied her, the sleep soon leaving my eye as things were about to get serious. The woman looked at the man in shock and she looked back at me. "What are you doing here?" She asked again, this ti
ADRIANNA Where was i to go from here? I had no idea. I dragged my suitcase along with me, tears streaming down my eyes. What was i going to do? Where would i stay? Would i have to go back to that house? To face both my sister, whose betrayal feels like a personal attack, and my husband, whose actions reek of deceit. I had no other choice. I can't stay on the streets, i know how dangerous it can be at night. My only and last option was to go back to that house full of bad memories and to endure. The walk back home was slow and torturous, each step heavy with the weight of my thoughts and the sting of tears that still lingered on my cheeks. The world around me blurred together in a haze of sadness, as I struggled to make sense of it all. Home, the word 'home' sounded so foreign to me. I couldn't call that place home, but there was nothing else I could call it. It was where I had been for as long as I could remember, with my once-wonderful family, the love of my life, and my sister. It
