ADRIANNA
I walked back home, my shoulders slumped, weighed down by what had happened today. It was just so hard to believe and understand what just happened. Jasmine had Raymond’s child? And on top of that, they were now married? What the heck was going on? I got to my apartment, and went straight to my bed. I launched myself onto my bed, feeling the spring creak beneath me. I looked over at the drawer beside my bed, my eyes citing the card. Did I really want to do this? Was this really what I wanted? I asked myself, deeply searching for an answer. I knew I would be able to take care of myself and the baby alone, I would be able to afford everything. But was that really what I wanted for my baby? I have already accepted my fate, and I have decided to love the baby and take care of it. “Fuck it” i said as i sat up from my bed. My baby needed a father figure, someone to call dad and someone who was going to be there. I grabbed the business card from the table, my finger tips going through it and feeling the hard cover. I hesitated for a bit. My mind, spiraling out of control. What was I going to say to him if I give him a call now? Oh my, oh my I didn’t even know what to say to him. Yesterday when he had asked me to marry him, I had been too speechless to say anything and I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to make that decision. I kept staring at my phone and back at the business card. My hands refused to move. They felt like stone and they were unmoveable. No matter how I tried, I just couldn’t input the numbers and give him a call. “Ohh well, here goes nothing” I said as I dialed his number and gave him a call. I dialed Ethan’s number, my fingers trembling slightly as I waited for him to answer. The phone rang once, twice and on the third ring, he picked and I heard a sound. “Hello” I froze. That wasn’t Ethan’s voice, that was actually a female’s voice. Did I call a wrong number? I took the phone off my ear, brought it to my face to check if I dialed the right number. The number was correct, so what was happening? I took the phone back to my ear. “H…hi hel…hello” I stammered. “Yes hello how may i help you” the voice over the phone came sharp and sudden. Immediately I contemplated just ending the car and forgetting about everything I was supposed to say but I decided against it. “Yea is this Ethan?” I asked, already realizing the stupid question I asked. Of course she wasn’t Ethan, she was a woman. I brought my hand to my forehead, thinking of how dumb I could be. “No this is not Ethan, but Ethan’s secretary” “Oh” I said. “Ehm, I would like to speak with Ethan,” I added, patiently waiting for her response. “I’m so sorry, but he is currently not on sit” she said to me over the phone. “Ohh okay. Do you know when he will be back? Or scratch that, when he comes back just tell him Adrianna called him” i said to her. “Okay i will do just that ma” she said. “Thank you” I said as I ended the call. “Well that went well” I said as I laid back down on my bed, the soft texture calming my nerves. Could this be fate not wanting me to get involved with him? I laughed at that thought. I looked around and realized how bored I was. I sighed. I wasn’t even supposed to be home, my manager had called me and asked me to take a few days off, saying that I needed to take care of my health and the baby. Instantly, I remembered that I hadn’t even thanked her for the other day. I picked up my phone from the bed, and dialed her number. The phone rang three times and she picked up at the fourth ring. “Hi Adrianna, how are you? And how are you feeling now?” She said to me over the phone. “I’m feeling good, better than I thought I would actually,” I said, holding on to that fact. I wouldn’t have even believed I was going to be able to accept all these so soon. It actually still hurts, but i feel better now “Is the baby kicking?” She asked over the phone laughing. “Of course not” I laughed, taking my hands to my stomach to feel it. “It's just two months,” I said. “Yea yea i know just kidding” she said as she gave out a soft laugh. It was nice to still have someone that cared about me genuinely. “Ohh i miss you so much here” she said over the phone. I could actually feel her facial expression from where I laid down. I gave a soft smile. “I’ll resume soon, don't worry,” I said. “Oh also i want to thank you for the other day, i am really really grateful. Thank you for being there for me "I said as tears began to cloud my eyes. “Don’t mention Adrianna, I am just glad that you are okay,” she said, making me smile. Just as I was about to tell her my goodbyes,I got a call disconnecting the signal. I looked at my phone screen, and it was an unfamiliar number. I was skeptical, I didn’t really like picking up unknown calls, but i picked it up regardless, placing it close to my ear. “ it’s Ethan” My heart dropped in relieve.ADRIANNA“Oh… hi” I said as I sat up from my bed.“I called you earlier”“Yes I know, my secretary told me,” he said.“Ohh okay” I said. After this, everywhere became silent. We both didn’t say anything over the phone, probably waiting for who to talk first.I laughed at that thought.“So i___” I said, not even able to complete my sentence as I was interrupted.“Can we talk?” He said over the phone.“In person or right now?” I asked.“In person” he replied almost immediately, like the idea of talking over the phone was a stupid thing to begin with.I gave a little giggle at the thought.“Are you laughing at me?” Ethan asked.“Of course not,” I said as I immediately stopped giggling.“Alright get ready in the next thirty minutes, i am sending my men over to come pick you up, send me your address after we are done with this call” he said.Men? What did he mean by men? I was well able to go out on my own. I don’t need an escort.“Wait, wait, wait. Hold on a second, what do you mean by me
ADRIANNAThe food came in right after, different foods were placed in front of us and it was very hard not to admire. My taste buds and stomach were screaming hungry, I could feel myself salivating.I kept my eyes fixed on the steaming dishes in front of me, the savory aroma of roasted chicken and slow-cooked meat tantalizing my senses.I looked up at Ethan, to see what he was doing, and I was caught off guard. He was staring at me, his elbow on the table and his hand on his face supporting it.I gave out a little blush, my cheeks red in embarrassment. He was probably wondering why I was so enticed by the food, but I didn’t know why either. I just felt so hungry and was only thinking about how I was going to devour the food.“I’m so sorry, am i embarrassing?” I said as I slumped my shoulders. He looked at me and laughed.“No you are not, you look so cute” he said as he moved closer to touch my cheek but he stopped abruptly, retracting his hands back slowly.“Let’s eat” he said as he t
ADRIANNA“You know I love you right?” Raymond said to me as he cupped my face with both hands.I felt so happy to hear those words from him, those reassuring words before our wedding. Of course I knew he loved me, we had been together for two years and he had been the sweetest ever since.“Are you sure Ray Ray?” I asked him, even though I already knew the answer to that question. “Definitely” he responded to me with his reassuring smile that seemed to always take my burdens away.I sighed as I turned to walk towards the direction of the mirror that was in my room. I stood before the mirror, admiring myself. I was dressed in a shiny yellow dress, embellished with beautiful rhinestones and nice black heels, that went so well with my dress. I had always hated the idea of wearing a white dress during your own wedding, so I opted to go for a shiny, beautiful yellow dress that was also my favourite colour. The mirror before me, revealed a radiant soul, with a glow that shone from within, a
ADRIANNAMy heart felt like it could stop working at any moment. The wedding was in thirty minutes, and it all still felt like a dream to me. All these didn’t feel real. I began to suddenly feel suffocated, making it very hard for me to breathe. I took a very long deep breath and began to calm my nerves. I was so nervous. I was getting married to the man of my dreams and it all felt like I was dreaming. I was getting ready, adjusting my dress, when someone entered. I turned around, to look at the person and immediately let out a wide smile. My sister had come in to see me. She was looking very gorgeous, dressed in a wedding-like white dress, which I found quite weird but decided to ignore. She had her hair packed up in a beautiful and neat ponytail, that was adorned with different beautiful flowers. She walked up to me, with her arms wide open, embracing me in a lovely and comforting hug.“Oh, I am so happy for you” she said to me as she let go of me after the hug. Her gentle hands ma
ETHANThe club was quite noisy tonight. I could see just a few people on the line waiting to get inside. I got close to the door and showed the guard my VIP card and he immediately let me in. I stepped into the club, and the loud music enveloped me like a living entity. The air was electric, thick with the smell of sweat and alcohol. Disco lights danced across the crowded room, casting a sinister light on the sea of faces. I squinted, my eyes adjusting slowly to the chaos. The club was a maze of dark corners and flashing lights, with a bar that stretched like a surface along one wall. The crowd was a blur of motion, bodies moving and colliding with each other, dancing to the beat of the music. I looked around and everywhere looked lively, with people moving around, dancing, talking or just standing listening to the music. But there was something that stood out to me, or rather someone.A woman was sitting by the counter, her presence disheartening. She looked vulnerable. I could not r
ADRIANNAI cracked open my eyes, and a piercing light stabbed into my brain like a thousand knives. I groaned, my head throbbing with a dull, relentless ache. I tried to lift my hand to shield my eyes, but even that small movement sent a wave of nausea crashing over me. I looked around slowly, taking in my surroundings, but my eyes widened immediately. I was in an unfamiliar room, with no recollection of how I got here. Panic set in as I scrambled to piece together the events of the previous night. That was when I looked beside me and fear gripped me immediately. There was an unknown figure, beside me, sleeping on the bed with me, a complete stranger. I looked down, praying that whatever thought I had was not true, but fate seemed like it wasn’t on my side. I slowly looked behind the blanket that was raised to my chest and I was completely naked. I screamed in fear, realizing what had just happened. I wanted to believe what I thought was not real and it never happened, but with what I
ADRIANNAMy world felt like it could collapse at any moment. My palms felt dry, but also felt sweaty. My body became hot, my ears red and eyes started to become watery. The words from Raymond, still ringing in my ears.I looked at him in disbelief, searching through his eyes for a lie. I wanted him to tell me at that moment, that he was lying and this man standing right here, this supposed stranger was not his brother. But it never came, it never came out from his mouth.“What do you mean your elder brother?” I finally said, after standing there in shock for a few minutes.I looked around, Raymond and Jasmine, were looking at me so confused. I did not even care at that moment how they looked at me, I just wanted to understand what was happening.“Yes Adrianna, he is my elder brother I told you about, that stays overseas and I rarely ever get to see him because he is always busy and working for our company, as the CEO”. he replied to me, looking at me weirdly. “What is the matter? Why
ADRIANNA This was never the type of life I wished for. I wanted a perfect life, a perfect marriage life, a perfect family, I wanted to be happy. It seemed like fate was against my wishes. I dragged my suitcase around the city, looking for a place to stay. I had some savings with me, I just had to find a good apartment to stay in. I was not sure if that was going to be possible, since it was already six in the evening. After a while of walking, I sighted a hotel that looked very much okay to stay the night. I walked into the lobby, to the front desk. I asked the receptionist what rooms were available, and she told me there were single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and a suite, welcoming me with a smile. I returned the smile back to her, feeling a little bit motivated. I booked a single room to stay for the night. I took the keys from the receptionist, making my way to my designated room. The room looked very much okay, although it was not really spacious. The room held
