ADRIANNA
“You know I love you right?” Raymond said to me as he cupped my face with both hands. I felt so happy to hear those words from him, those reassuring words before our wedding. Of course I knew he loved me, we had been together for two years and he had been the sweetest ever since. “Are you sure Ray Ray?” I asked him, even though I already knew the answer to that question. “Definitely” he responded to me with his reassuring smile that seemed to always take my burdens away. I sighed as I turned to walk towards the direction of the mirror that was in my room. I stood before the mirror, admiring myself. I was dressed in a shiny yellow dress, embellished with beautiful rhinestones and nice black heels, that went so well with my dress. I had always hated the idea of wearing a white dress during your own wedding, so I opted to go for a shiny, beautiful yellow dress that was also my favourite colour. The mirror before me, revealed a radiant soul, with a glow that shone from within, as I gazed lovingly at my reflection, lost in the depths of my own eyes. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Raymond walking towards me, with a light grin on his face. “You look really gorgeous tonight babe, I can’t wait to finally make you mine” he said to me, as he placed his right hand on my waist, spinning me around to face him. I giggled at his words, wondering what I did to deserve the greatest man that ever lived. Raymond and I met three years ago, at a small gathering led by my friends. Apparently, he had been invited by one of my friends and he had decided to actually attend. At first, I never paid him any attention, because I rarely liked to make new friends or liked to even talk to people. I had not even noticed he was there, until he walked up to me with two drinks in his hands. “Hey, may I have a seat next to you?” he asked, as he looked at me and also looked at the empty chair beside me. I was so close to letting him know that I was really not interested in talking to him, but I decided against it. “Yea sure” I said, giving him a cold reply. “Maybe if I give him a cold shoulder, he will eventually leave me alone” I thought inwardly. “Here, I got this for you” he said to me as he stretched one of his hands that held a glass of wine. “No, thank you”. I replied immediately, still giving him the cold reply and avoiding every bit of conversation with him. “And why is that?” he went further to ask, as he looked at me with a questioning gaze. I was already getting fed up with the questions, but I decided to keep my cool and not overreact or walk away. “only God knows what you have added to that drink” I said as I rolled my eyes, not even wanting to keep this conversation going, when I heard a laugh. I looked at him with curious eyes, and he was laughing. I was beginning to question what was so funny, that was making him laugh. What was making him laugh? Did I say something funny, that I did not know about?. At that moment, I stood up immediately and attempted to walk away from him, when I felt a hand grab me by my elbow, pulling me back. I gasped at the disrespect of this man. “What the hell is wrong with you?” I asked out of anger as I forcefully snatched my hand from his grasp. I took a step back, my chest heaving with anger. “Don’t you ever touch me again”, I hissed, my voice low and menacing. I could feel my heart racing with adrenaline, my mind racing with the audacity of his actions. “Whoa whoa whoa!, calm down!, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to get you all worked up, my apologies”, he replied almost immediately as he dropped the glass of wine he was holding on the table. “I am really sorry, please forgive my manners___” “Adrianna”, I responded as I immediately realized he was asking me about my name. He smiled almost instantly, after I told him my name. “Alright Adrianna, My name’s Raymond” he said, as he took a seat, urging me to do the same, as he pulled a chair for me. I shot him a glance, rolled my eyes, and sat down in the chair he had offered, folding my arms across my chest. Truth be told, now that I look at him, he didn’t look bad. He had a very well defined chiseled jaw, bright and captivating brown eyes that looked so vibrant and alive. He had golden brown hair that was styled and gelled to perfection and gave him a very good fitting. He had to be around five foot nine, contradicting my little height of just five foot six. “So, are you done staring?” he asked me a question, making me instantly blush and embarrassed. I had totally forgotten I was in my thoughts and was also staring at him. He kept looking at me, grinning from ear to ear as if I was some funny clown star, making a joke. “It’s okay” he said to me, giving me a reassuring smile, after he saw I was becoming more embarrassed and I had started using my hands to cover my face in shame. Weirdly enough, I was actually feeling attracted to him already, his smile seemed to calm my raging soul and made it peaceful, his smile was so reassuring. Raymond’s soft touch brought me back to reality, I had not even noticed that I had zoned out for that long. “Is everything alright baby? You looked so lost” he asked me, with a very worried look. “oh yes I am fine love, I just remembered the first time we met and the little argument we had. It was one hell of an argument” I replied to him as I giggled, remembering the incident that happened over again. He grinned as he cupped my face with his hands, giving me a kiss that seemed to take my breath away “Yea baby, I remember, it was a very eventful moment, now let’s prepare to spend the rest of our lives together” he said as he released me from his grip and walked out of the room. “See you at the wedding venue my future wife, or should I say my wife?” he voiced as he finally walked out of the room, and I could no longer see him. My ears twitched at those particular words, I was sure my ears were red and hot at this very moment. I spun myself around leaping for joy as I anticipated the best moments of my life in a few hours.ADRIANNAMy heart felt like it could stop working at any moment. The wedding was in thirty minutes, and it all still felt like a dream to me. All these didn’t feel real. I began to suddenly feel suffocated, making it very hard for me to breathe. I took a very long deep breath and began to calm my nerves. I was so nervous. I was getting married to the man of my dreams and it all felt like I was dreaming. I was getting ready, adjusting my dress, when someone entered. I turned around, to look at the person and immediately let out a wide smile. My sister had come in to see me. She was looking very gorgeous, dressed in a wedding-like white dress, which I found quite weird but decided to ignore. She had her hair packed up in a beautiful and neat ponytail, that was adorned with different beautiful flowers. She walked up to me, with her arms wide open, embracing me in a lovely and comforting hug.“Oh, I am so happy for you” she said to me as she let go of me after the hug. Her gentle hands ma
ETHANThe club was quite noisy tonight. I could see just a few people on the line waiting to get inside. I got close to the door and showed the guard my VIP card and he immediately let me in. I stepped into the club, and the loud music enveloped me like a living entity. The air was electric, thick with the smell of sweat and alcohol. Disco lights danced across the crowded room, casting a sinister light on the sea of faces. I squinted, my eyes adjusting slowly to the chaos. The club was a maze of dark corners and flashing lights, with a bar that stretched like a surface along one wall. The crowd was a blur of motion, bodies moving and colliding with each other, dancing to the beat of the music. I looked around and everywhere looked lively, with people moving around, dancing, talking or just standing listening to the music. But there was something that stood out to me, or rather someone.A woman was sitting by the counter, her presence disheartening. She looked vulnerable. I could not r
ADRIANNAI cracked open my eyes, and a piercing light stabbed into my brain like a thousand knives. I groaned, my head throbbing with a dull, relentless ache. I tried to lift my hand to shield my eyes, but even that small movement sent a wave of nausea crashing over me. I looked around slowly, taking in my surroundings, but my eyes widened immediately. I was in an unfamiliar room, with no recollection of how I got here. Panic set in as I scrambled to piece together the events of the previous night. That was when I looked beside me and fear gripped me immediately. There was an unknown figure, beside me, sleeping on the bed with me, a complete stranger. I looked down, praying that whatever thought I had was not true, but fate seemed like it wasn’t on my side. I slowly looked behind the blanket that was raised to my chest and I was completely naked. I screamed in fear, realizing what had just happened. I wanted to believe what I thought was not real and it never happened, but with what I
ADRIANNAMy world felt like it could collapse at any moment. My palms felt dry, but also felt sweaty. My body became hot, my ears red and eyes started to become watery. The words from Raymond, still ringing in my ears.I looked at him in disbelief, searching through his eyes for a lie. I wanted him to tell me at that moment, that he was lying and this man standing right here, this supposed stranger was not his brother. But it never came, it never came out from his mouth.“What do you mean your elder brother?” I finally said, after standing there in shock for a few minutes.I looked around, Raymond and Jasmine, were looking at me so confused. I did not even care at that moment how they looked at me, I just wanted to understand what was happening.“Yes Adrianna, he is my elder brother I told you about, that stays overseas and I rarely ever get to see him because he is always busy and working for our company, as the CEO”. he replied to me, looking at me weirdly. “What is the matter? Why
ADRIANNA This was never the type of life I wished for. I wanted a perfect life, a perfect marriage life, a perfect family, I wanted to be happy. It seemed like fate was against my wishes. I dragged my suitcase around the city, looking for a place to stay. I had some savings with me, I just had to find a good apartment to stay in. I was not sure if that was going to be possible, since it was already six in the evening. After a while of walking, I sighted a hotel that looked very much okay to stay the night. I walked into the lobby, to the front desk. I asked the receptionist what rooms were available, and she told me there were single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and a suite, welcoming me with a smile. I returned the smile back to her, feeling a little bit motivated. I booked a single room to stay for the night. I took the keys from the receptionist, making my way to my designated room. The room looked very much okay, although it was not really spacious. The room held
ADRIANNA A knock on the door woke the tired me. I stretched my hand towards the nightstand stool, to take my phone and check the time. It was past seven in the morning. I yawned as i stood up from the bed, walking groggily to the door. It was so early in the morning, i wasn't expecting anybody, because i was sure nobody knew where i lived as i had just bought this place yesterday. I checked the peephole and i saw two people standing outside the door. A woman and a young man. I opened the door immediately and the question that was asked threw me off. "Who are you? And what are you doing here?" The woman before me asked. My eyes widened at that question. What did she mean by who was i? She came to my house, so why was she asking me who i was? Wasn't she supposed to know? "What?" I replied her, the sleep soon leaving my eye as things were about to get serious. The woman looked at the man in shock and she looked back at me. "What are you doing here?" She asked again, this ti
ADRIANNA Where was i to go from here? I had no idea. I dragged my suitcase along with me, tears streaming down my eyes. What was i going to do? Where would i stay? Would i have to go back to that house? To face both my sister, whose betrayal feels like a personal attack, and my husband, whose actions reek of deceit. I had no other choice. I can't stay on the streets, i know how dangerous it can be at night. My only and last option was to go back to that house full of bad memories and to endure. The walk back home was slow and torturous, each step heavy with the weight of my thoughts and the sting of tears that still lingered on my cheeks. The world around me blurred together in a haze of sadness, as I struggled to make sense of it all. Home, the word 'home' sounded so foreign to me. I couldn't call that place home, but there was nothing else I could call it. It was where I had been for as long as I could remember, with my once-wonderful family, the love of my life, and my sister. It
ADRIANNAThe walk up to my room was fast and swift. I just wanted to go into my room and bawl my eyes out. I still couldn't believe it, Raymond has been cheating on me all these while we had been together. Our promises, have they all been a lie?. As I walked towards my bed, I dropped my suitcase behind the door and slumped down on it. If anyone would have told me that i would have to go through all these after my wedding, i would never have believed it. It was all too much for me, i just didn't know what to do. I was supposed to me happy, spending my honeymoon with the one i loved, but here i was crying my eyes out. It seemed like tears had been my daily meal for the past two days. I gently touched the bed, my hands grazing the soft foam and texture. The feelings of the soft texture brought back memories and pain. This was supposed to be my matrimonial bed, our matrimonial bed, and now it was soiled with betrayal and deceit. My eyes roamed the room, i could vividly remember the joy i
