Azura

“You want to disguise yourself as Alpha Elias and participate in the combat?” He asks as if confirming if he heard right.

“Yes. I want to go to the Lunar Academy to train instead of your place,” I reply and he gives me a puzzled look.

“And why? Why do you want to do that? Do you even have any idea what will happen to you if you get caught?” Elias bombards me with his questions, playing my big brother’s role.

I can’t help but roll my eyes. “You know, I’m more powerful than you,” I smirk and continue, “Besides, I’m capable of fighting any Alpha and I want to have a chance to speak to the Alpha King. This Alpha combat is my only chance.”

“Because you think that no one else can bring justice to you and your father except the Alpha King, right?” Elias says, reading my mind and my jaw drops in amazement. He is getting smart, I would give him that.

“I know that even if I want, I can’t fight against the Dark Shadow pack as the situation in my pack is not good and no other Alpha can help you so I understand but you have to promise me that if anything goes south, you will ask for help and come back to my pack,” he smiles at me and I promise him before hugging him.

“Thank you, Elias,” I say, pulling myself away and smiling at him.

He smirks and pats my head. “Do you think you will be able to act like Alpha Elias? You know, I have a pretty tough personality and I haven’t lost any battle in the Academy before.” He boasts and shrugs.

My smile falters as I realize that everyone has seen him in the Lunar Academy earlier. What if someone…

“Hey, what happened?” Elias waves his hands in front of me, bringing me out of my thoughts.

“What if someone discovers that I'm impersonating you and that I'm not the real Elias? I mean, everyone has seen your bloody face.” I state with a frown.

He laughs, throwing his head back. “I like seeing you scared, Zura.”

I flare my nostrils and punch his shoulder. “Shut the fuck up, Eli-Peli.” I growl and he chuckles again.

“Don’t worry, little sister. Everyone has seen my face but I wasn’t Alpha Elias at that time. They know me as Elias, not Alpha Elias. I haven’t attended any event after taking over the post of the Alpha of the Black Cliff pack so they know Alpha Elias by his name only, not by face,” he explains and I sigh in relief.

“Alright, then. I should leave now.” I hug him again and get my backpack from my room.

I will do anything to make things work in my favor. I can’t let this chance slip from my hand. The daughter of the Beta Drake feared nothing and no one.

“You’re not going alone there,” Elias stops me, blocking my way.

“You gotta be kidding me,” I shake my head and scowl. “They accept only Alphas if you have forgotten.”

Eli frowns. “You should listen first before reacting. I’m not sending you there alone. My Beta, Jack, will drive you there safely and he will return only after seeing you entering the Lunar Academy. I can’t let you travel alone, knowing that your asshole husband will be searching for you everywhere like lunatics.”

My heart skips a beat at the mention of my mate. He will also be there. I have planned to get contact lenses and a wig to hide my prominent features. I don’t have money to buy the stuff I need and I’m feeling too embarrassed to ask for it from Elias. I have already bothered him enough. I don’t want to add more burden on him after knowing that his pack’s condition isn’t right.

I sit in the car after saying goodbye to him. “Take this and use it.” He offers me his credit card and I reluctantly take it after denying it twice politely. I will return the money to him once I find the real culprit and then, I will go back to my pack and get my mother’s fortune back from those bitches. He forces me to take it and tells me to ring him anytime and inform him every day about everything that happens in the Academy.

He simply wants to keep an eye on me so he will know if I’m in danger. I promise him to update him about everything.

Beta Jack stops the car at a mall and I get a makeover within two hours. I buy males’ stuff and it reminds me of Nicholas. I regret loving that asshole who didn’t even believe me and was ready to kill me. I wonder if he ever loved me or maybe it was just because of the mate bond.

My wolf is missing him but there is no way that I’m taking him back. I will stay away from him.

I make my way toward the parking lot and open the door of the car.

“Excuse me?” Jack snaps coldly.

“It’s me, Azura,” I say, stifling a giggle.

“What the fuck. I can’t even recognize you,” Beta Jack’s mouth hangs in surprise when he recognizes my voice.

I sit in the passenger seat and he drives us to a restaurant. We take lunch there before continuing our journey. After eight hours of traveling, we finally arrive at the Academy.

“Take care, Azura. Should you need any help, don’t hesitate to reach out to us,” Jack tells me softly, smiling down at me.

“Thank you, Jack. Drive back safely.” I bid him farewell and he leaves after he sees me going inside the Academy.

I’m familiar with every corner of this Academy so I reach the office within a minute. The officer in charge asks me to go to the boys’ hostel and find my room number and roommate on the board. I pray to the Goddess not to set me up with Nicholas as my roommate as I walk toward the hostel with my heart thudding in my chest. I have used the scent disguiser but I’m not ready to face him yet.

I stumble and trip over a pebble. My ass would have landed on the floor if a strong hand wouldn’t have held my hand. My hands collide with his chest and I look into his amber brown eyes.

“Hello, ex-girlfriend,” he whispers in my ear in his deep husky voice, making me shiver.

Azura What the fuck. Ryker will be expelled from the Academy if Nicholas tells this to the management. The Academy is strict with the rules, whoever breaks the rules doesn’t get a second chance. I can’t be selfish enough to hide behind him and get him expelled because of me. He deserves to become the Alpha King though I don’t like him. He is the best Alpha for his pack and treats his pack members so well that they have grown so much since he has taken over the pack. Ryker will not sacrifice his chance of becoming the Alpha King for me and I can’t expect that from him so I move to step out from behind him and end this game. “Wait,” Ryker speaks when Nicholas turns to leave. “Stay there,” he whispers in a barely audible voice to me and pushes me behind him again. “Hmm… I’m interested to hear whatever you have to say,” Nicholas tilts his head, smirking devilishly. Nevertheless, it makes me happy and worried at the same time. What did that bastard do to turn things the other way around? I have a feeling that Azura’s feelings are not the same anymore. Azura loved that bastard so much. The whole Academy knew that but Nicholas didn’t even bother to glance at her until he saw her with me. The only reason she dated me was to get the attention of my half-brother who changed girlfriends like clothes. Despite me trying to explain to her how he was and she was bound to get hurt by that asshole, she didn’t pay any heed to my warnings. She was blindly in love with him but the she-wolf standing in front of me isn’t a teen girl anymore. Even he could figure out that I couldn’t kill my father but my mate refused to believe me. It hurts me more to admit that my mate doesn’t trust me when the man whom I fake-dated for a few months trusts me. Ryker steps toward me and sits beside me on the bed with a frown etched on his face. “Do I have to repeat myself?” Of course, the big bad Alpha hated repeating himself. “I can’t believe that you’re offering to help me find the true culprit behind my father’s murder,” I tell him, narrowing my eyes at him suspiciously. He rolls his beautiful amber-brown eyes and looks at me with a perplexed look on his face. “Why is it that hard to believe?” I sneer and shrug casually, stealing a glance at him. “Can you blame me for your cold-hearted Alpha reputation?” He waves his hand off and frowns. “I’m still cold-hearted but I thin
