Camilla’s POV

“How long do you think we’ve been here?” Ava asked, her voice barely above a whisper. I glanced at the cracks in the wall, but they did nothing to tell us the time of day.

“Maybe a day or two,” I murmured, sighing as I rested my head against the cold, unforgiving stone.

Silence settled between us for a moment before I spoke again. “Lucius is behind everything.” My voice was low, but Ava leaned forward at my words.

“I know,” she said quietly.

“No, I mean everything,” I said, my voice a bit sharper now. She frowned, confusion flickering in her eyes.

“The experiment on you, Ava. Marcus wasn’t the one pulling the strings. It was Lucius.” The truth weighed heavy on my chest as I spoke, and I watched her reaction closely.

Her eyes widened as she processed what I said, then she leaned back against the wall, her face pale. “With everything that’s happened… I can believe that,” she sighed, her voice heavy with regret or maybe tiredness?
