CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED

Evvie’s POV:

His eyes snapped to me with a flash of anger, and betrayal. My stomach sank.

“You were supposed to find out if he was involved, not get yourself knocked up by him.” He snarled.

I took a step back, but I held my ground.

“He’s my mate. This is my home now, Barrak,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

He growled, then started to move, circling me.

“Logan isn’t exactly the monster you painted him to be.” I said, following the direction of his gaze as he circled me.

“So now you find your mate, and you think you know everything about him?” he chuckled mockingly. I know where that came from.

“Does he know who you are?” He taunted, a knowing smile playing on his lips.

I chewed my lower lip, knowing full well the answer to that. He doesn’t know. Would he think I betrayed him?

Closing my eyes, I let out the question that has been nagging me for years since I met him.

“Why are you so against the mate bond?” I breathed, testing the waters.
