CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Casey’s POV

I pull the curtain shut, blocking out the view of that building. My fingers tremble, still feeling the pull from it, as if it’s alive and breathing, calling out to me. I swallow hard, trying to clear my head.

“Get a grip, Casey,” I whisper to myself. "This is not the time to lose it."

I move to my luggage and grab the first thing I see. Tossing on a faded t-shirt and jeans, I dress quickly, my hands fumbling with the buttons. The voice from earlier…Kaleesa, still echoes in my mind, yet I could no longer hear her.

“Other half,” she called herself. I snort softly.

What does that even mean?

A knock sounded on my door. “Casey? Is everything okay?” Judging from the soft, graceful voice, I knew instantly it was Evvie.

“Yeah, I’m coming,” I reply, trying to sound less frantic than I feel. I take a deep breath, before I go to open the door.

Pixie and Evvie are standing by my door. Their grins were wide and contagious as their eyes sparkled with excitement.
