Chapter 5

Mary's POV

***Five days later***

It's just a normal afternoon in prison, since I'm a prisoner on parole, I can walk freely, and visit the various facilities owned by the prison, one of which I love visiting the most is the garden. Prince George said he wanted to put me here while he made more investigation on his mate, at least I'm glad I'm not a dead person which I would have been if he hadn't changed his mind on the lethal injection.

I'm sitting on the bench, enjoying the cold breeze coming from the west when all of a sudden my eyes redirect me towards the entrance of the female prison. I saw a tall, huge man standing with the Chief Officer, the lady in charge of the female department. His structure looks familiar, upon sighting him, I realize it's Prince George.

"What's he doing here?"

I rise immediately hoping to move ahead, perhaps out of the garden to somewhere far away. There's no other person he's here for apart from me, except his mate is here but she isn't here. My sister can't be here and I wouldn't see her. There are over three hundred inmates here and being a prisoner on parole, I've seen almost all of them except those serial killers who are locked away in a separate area.

"Mary!" I heard my name.

I freeze on the spot.

"Oh God!" Since my body can't cope with this sudden shock, I begin to shake, I feel like my legs would fail me and I'd collapse into the group. I could hear his hefty steps heading towards me. I was too stiff to turn around to face him, I didn't even know what he wanted.

My breath is going pretty slower than normal. I guess I'm a walking corpse, power rested on his hand, who knows what he's up to, coming down here.

My body stiffens the more as I feel his body warmth behind my back, his hands slowly encircling me from the back, over my breasts. Swiftly, I turn around as my eyes widen in shock.

"What do you think you are doing?" I bark, not caring if he's the prince or not. I'm being haunted by his past orders to get me injected to death. My eyes turn fierce, making him shift back in shock. I'm just getting to react to these anger hormones within me, without realizing it.

Within me, amusement is also sailing in. If someone would tell me I'd talk to the prince this way, I wouldn't believe it.

"Come with me!" His voice is quite pleading and authoritative at the same time. After this, he remains in his stance, staring calmly at me, his gaze moves me. I can't stand here, having him stare at me so innocently like he isn't the one who caused my predicament. He's trying to prove innocent and I can't take that from him. Then aside from not wanting him to stare at me, I can't wait to see what's going on with my sister. We are twins, so she's just like a soulmate to me, we can't stay for a long time without seeing or talking to each other. I miss her voice, I miss her troubles.

It was another moment of suspense as I trod behind him, gazing at him with bad eyes. I get inside his car, he starts the car and zooms off. "Something must be wrong?" He's acting all strange.

Coming first to first with death and being asked to be released makes me so strong that I can look him in the face and say whatever I want to say. After all, what will I be afraid of again which is greater than death?

"Where are you taking me to?"

"My estate!" He replies without looking at me.

"Hmm," I sigh inside of me. "Where's my sister?" What I've been wanting to hear for a long time.

"Until you get home, you will know." At some point, this sounds strange.

What does he mean? My house? I'm living alone. How can he call that home? Could it be that he sent my sister to my house and is trying to mean this?

Well, let me ask.

"Home?" I turn my head slightly.

"I'm sorry but my mansion is now your new home because you will never leave it." It takes him some difficulty to release his breath, I know he's feigning it. My head remains in the same position with my body getting farther from him.

"What do you mean?" I arch my brows.

"I say you will return to my mansion and that will become your home! The news has gotten to the royal family from Alex and now you need to act like you've always been my mate."

"What?" I'm confused and afraid right now. "What about my sister?" I repeat the question but this time around, he looks at me with bad eyes and turns, not saying anything.

"Are you even sure of who you are talking to?" I'm shocked, so I have to ask. What does it mean that I'll never leave his house? Is he taking me to be his mate, Lucy?

"Yes, I know." He replies matter-of-factly. "Mary, my ex-mate's sister."

"Till I arrive at my estate, I'll remain speechless, keeping most of the information by yourself. You will get to know things yourself." I guess this is the last statement he's making, being that he's serious with his words.

Upon arriving at his estate, and getting out of the car, I follow steadily behind him, with millions of thoughts running through my mind.

"Come with me!" He gestures to me as he leads the way. I see myself following him with a whole lot of thoughts in mind, fear on one side of me. George leads the way into a room, tagged as a semi-clinic.

"Here! Come in. You need a thorough checkup after five days in prison. Then we know what to do next."

He hands over a file to me. I scan through it, it bears Lucy's name, my heart seizes in shock that I have to hold my chest. "She's infected with Lamphy virus, so I can't continue any longer with her."

This is the new virus that's trending and is mainly transmitted through unprotected sex. Being a terminal disease with no cure for now, it leaves the victim with only six months to live according to what medical experts say.

"She has no future unless a cure is invented and that's a probability."

My legs are weak as I sink, he raises me and holds me. "How can I afford to lose my sister?" Tears start to stream out of my eyes. I'm being forced to believe in a cure coming out within this range of six months.

"Where did you meet her to conduct the test on her, is she here in the estate?" I ask.

"That you will soon know," his voice pours out his reply in a cold manner, without any emotions.

My wish returns to the cure but what if there's a cure, wouldn't she come back to fight me, for taking her man? George now wants me, should there be a cure now, how will I keep my face as my sister's husband's new mate?

"News reaching me is that she got pregnant by her lover and had an abortion on it, destroying her womb!" George says, making me gasp, holding my chest. "So for the second time, she has no future!"

"But with a huge amount of money, a womb implant can be carried out or a surrogacy, she even has a child with him?" I question myself. My heart is beating fucking fast. My thoughts dwell on the future, knowing the huge problem this will turn out to be if things don't go as George is now believing.

"Oh God!"

"I'm trying to use you to cover up as well, the royal family doesn't need to know about us!" He confesses. "You're identical, even up to DNA as she told me once, so the royal family will have no proof of you not being Lucy. As the law demands, having such a personality as a mate or divorcing requires me to drop my prince title and position and I'm not ready to do that for a woman who isn't worthy of my love with her actions." From his tone, I can see he's very angry.

"The doctor is here, so you will be running all the tests to make sure you're fit to be in this new position as my mate."

Immediately he pronounces this, my mind flashes about the royal law. The punishment for impersonation. Right now Lucy is a public figure and the one recognized by the royal family of San Marino as a family member by marriage. Though we are identical in all aspects, our biometrics can never be the same. Her fingerprint is quite different from mine.

What if this case gets serious up to the point of wanting to test this? Wouldn't that be me signing my death warrant and George wouldn't be able to help me?

"Also remember, if you refuse, it wouldn't cost him a lot to put you to death as well." A voice whispers into my ears.

"Yes, he has the power but…… " I don't know what to tell myself in response. I was at two dangerous ends. He might not be official in hurting me should I decline but he still has his ways.

I get subjected to the test, everything happens in a flash. I didn't even expect this. The shock coming with this makes me unable to say a word or make any decision of my own. My gaze graduates from Prince George's to the doctor testing me repeatedly.

The series of tests as soon as it's completed, sees the doctor going into the next room. "I'll be back with the results in the next one hour."

"I wish I'd never have to be with you," I mutter. I'm praying inside of me for a defect that would make me unfit to be his mate, the easiest I wish for incurable infertility. With the dangers posing in my mind should I accept this request and the royal family later find out, I have no choice but to want to be infertile so he can reject me. About him hurting me, I'll run far away from San Marino and never return. Of course, this wouldn't be me declining, but him declining me because I'm unfit. The blame wouldn't be all on me.

One seems like an eternity overwhelmed with suspense and horror especially with him sitting at the other end, staring at me with those deep, lustful eyes.

The door of the room finally cracks open. I raise my face to see the doctor coming in.

"Miss Mary, here is your result. You are perfectly fine in health but........"

This gets so curious and nervous that I pass out urine without realizing it. I'm dying so hard to hear what she wants to say.

"You're five days pregnant…. !"
