Chapter 3 - Alpha Michael

From the moment blue eyes left and his freaking blue eyes is all I can think about… and his voice, oh what a voice, it was deep and commanding yet soft.
Everything about him screamed authority and demanded attention, typical alpha, I could sense it.
What's with me and werewolves? Then it hit me, How horrible I must be, Today of all days ... the anniversary of their death, the day my life was destroyed, The day they were taken from me and I'm thinking of another man distracted with his fucking eyes... betraying Luke!
Betraying all of them… by forgetting about them, I was pulled out of my thoughts when Emmy asked if I was okay, apparently couple of tears escaped my eyes while remembering the destruction that I've caused to those who I loved the most.
"I'm fine, today is just not my day, and I’m not feeling well. Maybe I'll ask Mr. Simon if I can leave early" I said walking away whipping my tears and heading to Mr. Simon's office.
Thankfully one look at me and he agreed that I take the rest of the day off, I hardly ever took days off so if I asked for one it meant that I really needed it.
I head straight home, threw myself on the bed and let all the memories of that day flood my mind "I promise I will avenge you... I'm sorry ", I whisper to myself as I clutch the pendant hanging from my necklace.
It was my birthday gift from Lucas, it was oval shaped and it opens, on one side is a picture of us with him hugging me from the back and the other side was the 4G ultrasound of our daughter we took the week before, we were going to name her Aurora, she looked like him ... my baby, I didn't even have the chance to hold her before that bustard took her away...I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye.
I close my eyes and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks until sleep takes over me.
Derek POV
We settle in the office after exchanging greetings and I maintain my smirk which was getting to Michael more, he was glaring at me with his light brown eyes, same as James… how I wish he was the one sitting here instead of that middle aged man with his pale skin, does he ever get out of the office? What an alpha!
He was glaring at me to the point that the arbitrator had to ask "is something wrong alpha Michael? Other than the obvious I mean" his name was Marcus Jones, he was tall with deep brown skin and dark brown eyes, he had a powerful aura to him as arbitrators are almost always of alpha blood.
"Not at all Mr. Jones but you can understand my irritation to the fact that an ally and a neighboring pack would be spying on us and I can't find any reason for that but ill intentions" Michael says still glaring at me as if he truly believes the bullshit he just said, i guess glaring is his only tactic.
I let out a dry chuckle saying "Do you really believe that alpha Michael? I know you are a very smart man" I lie,
"for sure you wouldn't mistake a couple of 15 years old boys for actual warriors, nor do you believe that I would be that stupid to send spies in broad daylight, plus, what would be my reason for that? We are old allies ... I mean you are still my father's best friend after all" that last part made him stiffen.
"Alpha Michael, in your report you said you caught 3 well trained warriors who belonged to the crimson river pack within your territory in the late hours of the night last night, and now alpha Derek says it was broad day. Was he not informed once his warriors were captured? ” Mr. Jones questioned.
Well that’s why the arbitrator was here so fast; the council was actually informed last night, even before he had the boys.
That sneaky son of a bitch, he wanted us unprepared.
"Dean, did Dylan send the link I asked for?" I linked Dean.
"Yes alpha" he linked back.
"We tried contacting them but got no answer" Michael answered.
"That’s not true we have someone 24/7 monitor communications and there was no messengers sent to our borders last night or this morning. We were only informed by the council a couple of hours ago that our pack members were captured and a representative of the council will be attending" I said leaning forward staring directly at Michael.
"What's your proof boy?" he glares right back at me, like i said, his only tactic.
“listen Alpha Michael you might be older than me but in no means are you allowed to address me with disrespect, I've been alpha for almost 12 years now and I lead one of the strongest packs in the region" I say getting angry now, I don’t tolerate disrespect. "So I'd be careful how you talk to me"
"And why is it you've been alpha for 12 years? Isn't it because you overthrew your own father when you were 16?" he snarled at me.
"My father relinquished his position willingly and if what you say is true, that only proves how powerful I am so, as I said I'd be careful if I were you" I threaten him
"Are you threatening me?" Michael says leaning forward in his chair but before I could answer, Mr. Jones cut us off irritated with our behavior
" Alphas, focus or I will take matters into my own hands without any references from you as you seem to be more interested in discussing past unrelated matters than the one at hand " oh shit that’s not what I want and he has all the power to do that as an arbitrator of the council and a representative of the king himself.
Just in time, my phone ding and I see the message I've been staling for.
“My apologies Mr. Jones, and not to waste your time any further" I say handing him my phone,
" you will find here several videos of the pack members alpha Michael claims he captured last night on his territory actually attending school THIS morning before they ditched for the rest of the day " emphasizing the words this morning.
" you will also find a video from our surveillance cameras at our borders showing the boys goofing off and accidently crossing borders without realizing and being captured 10 minutes after that" Mr. Jones facial expression doesn't change.
"So basically, blood moon claims are false in an attempt to slander crimson river reputation and justify any upcoming attacks against us. As you see the boys are not even of age to become warriors".
"Is that true alpha Michael?" Mr. Jones asks highly irritated and a bit angry.
"No, of course not, these videos are fake, And if it’s true how would I've known that the boys will "ACCIDENTALLY" cross my borders this morning if I already filled the report last night?”Alpha Michael defended himself.
"Yes we will see about that... alpha Derek please send me the links and original videos along with the birth certificates and details about your pack members, as for now alpha Michael you will hand over the members captured to the crimson river pack immediately and alpha Michael… if what alpha Derek is saying is proved to be the truth which I believe it is" Mr. Jones says standing up now "There will be severe repercussions that neither you nor your pack will be able to handle" he said looking straight into alpha Michael's eyes.
"Alpha Derek, it was a pleasure meeting you finally in person, your reputation precedes you" Mr. Jones says as he shakes my hand,
"The pleasure is all mine, although I wished it would have been in better circumstances" I reply.
He turns to alpha Michael and says "you will be hearing from the council soon, be prepared".
Mr. Jones stays until we take our pack members and then we exchange goodbyes again, I don’t miss how dean keeps glancing around but I won’t say anything, it’s a sore subject.
Everyone heads back to his destination and I'm back cringing as I remember the damn wink I gave my mate.
I need to step up my game before she runs the other way laughing her ass off at my cheesiness.
