Sheila's POV
Reading the news this morning left me in shock. How could two companies go bankrupt overnight? Not just my father's company, but also Alan's family company! How did this happen?I kept searching online until I found a press interview with Alan Blackwood. I clicked on the video, saw his bruised face, and gasped in surprise.Images of Andrew punching Alan quickly flashed my mind before I could hold on to it, making me wonder if it was Andrew that had truly done this to Alan.Alan…I remembered mentioning his name last night and another image of struggling with him flashed in my mind. I really needed to know what happened last night.I focused on the video and heard Alan accusing Andrew of bullying me and targeting his company for no reason. The media was now calling Andrew a bully who abused his power.I needed to understand what was going on. I got dressed and went to Andrew's room to confront him, and I immediately reAlan's POV“This unfilial, useless child! What is wrong with you?” my father yelled as he entered the hospital room where I was. I flinched as I saw the person I most dreaded, coming into the ward in an angry expression.“Darling, please calm down. He's still trying to recover,” my mother tried to defend me, but my father cut her off.“Don't tell me to calm down! You've always indulged him! That's why he always brings bad luck to our family!” my father yelled furiously.I dropped the bowl of porridge I was eating and lowered my head, bracing for what was coming next.“I told you not to bring this bastard into our family, Maria, but you insisted! You convinced me to accept him! Since he joined the company, everything has gone downhill. I even sent him to one of our lower subsidiaries, hoping he would change, but what did he do? He upset the CEO of Walker Enterprises! Of all people, he chose to anger Walker Enterprises!”“Darling,
Phoebe’s POVI kept tapping my leg on the ground, feeling anxious and clearly upset. Mom was on the phone with someone, and I tried to wait patiently for her to finish her conversation while thinking about what to do.“This is a really big mess, Phoebe,” my mother said, drawing my attention to her.“What did he say, Mom? Is Uncle Philip going to help us?” I asked immediately.Mom sighed and sat down beside me. “The issue is way more complicated than we thought. If what the media says is true and Mr. Andrew Walker is behind all this, then we don't really stand a chance. Walker Enterprises has a lot of connections in the country, and most companies are afraid of them. We might lose more than just clients.”I stood up and angrily stomped my foot on the ground. “Why would Mr. Andrew do this to us? Does he forget we're Sheila's family? What kind of man in his right mind would make his wife's family go bankrupt?”Mom went silent for a brief moment before speculating, “I think all this happe
Sheila's POV "Mistress, dinner is ready," Anna announced as she came into my room."I'm not hungry," I replied tiredly. I expected her to leave and let me be, but she stayed."But you missed breakfast and lunch. Do you want to skip dinner too? Master won't be happy about this," She said as she sat by the edge of the bed."Are you more worried about what your Master thinks or about my health?" I snapped without thinking.I turned and saw the hurt on her face, though she tried to hide it. What was wrong with me? I shouldn't have snapped at her that way."I'm sorry, Anna. I didn't mean to snap at you; I've just not been myself lately,” I quickly apologized to her.Remembering what happened this morning between me and Andrew had left me in a bad mood all day.I wasn't sure if it was the doctor's prescription or the fact that Andrew didn't check on me after I left his room that upset me more.Did that mean he didn't care about me? I expected him to follow me and offer an explanation, but
Sheila's POVI sat back down, my legs wobbly, gripping Anna's phone tightly, unable to take my eyes off the screen. Everything seemed to spin, but I shook my head to focus. The video showed footage of me in bed with another man. Even though it didn't capture the man's face, my face was glaring in the video. As I watched, the horrifying memories came flooding back. Fiona had drugged me! She drugged me and allowed Alan to take me away! If Andrew hadn't intervened when he did, Alan would have been the one in the video.I wanted to scream, to lash out, but all I could do was sit there, paralyzed by the weight of the truth. My mind raced with thoughts of what could have happened if Andrew hadn't arrived in time. The very thought of Alan touching me made my skin crawl."Good day, everyone. My name is Phoebe Grayson, daughter of Mr. Stevenson Grayson, CEO of Grayson Company. I usually don't like talking about things like this online, but I think the time has come for me to do so," Phoebe beg
Andrew's POV“Master, the media….”“I know,” I cut off Zane as he stepped into the office with his tab, with a worried expression.Phoebe Grayson must really have guts to come online and utter this nonsense. I had wanted to prevent Sheila from knowing that she had been drugged, but this foolish Phone somehow got footage of the video and leaked it online.I should have instructed my men to check that room properly before we left! I'd make sure to teach the entire Grayson family a lesson they wouldn't forget in a long while. How was she able to get the message conversation and phone records between my parents and hers? They would all face my wrath!“Zane, have you instructed the IT team to take down the post?” “Yes, Master.”“Call for a press conference, I'll address this issue right now.”“A press conference? Master, I don't think it's ideal to do that now. Every blog has been carrying the news of Mistress'.... situation. I think it's best if you hold a board meeting with the directo
Sheila’s POVI sat by the pool, feeling so upset and unhappy. I had read more mean comments that I couldn't bear to read anymore, and had to come outside to clear my head. How could people be so mean? They didn't know me, yet they were all quick to judge and label me as the devil's spawn. Was it so easy for people to be deceived?I had contemplated making a video to defend myself, but Phoebe's exceptional acting skills of attempting suicide, coupled with Fiona's outburst, were enough to convince everyone that I was guilty.“Mistress! Mistress!” Anna called out, running toward me.“Not now, Anna, please, I don't want to talk about this. I just want to be left alone,” I quickly said.“But Mistress, you need to see this! Check your phone! The media—”“Is cursing me out and probably calling me a witch for making Phoebe attempt to end her life? The media is calling me a boyfriend snatcher whereas I was the one that was used and betrayed! I don't want to hear or see any of these anymore; I'
Andrew's POVI had just finished talking with my father on the phone, assuring him that everything was fine. The media frenzy, the accusations, everything had been handled. As I dropped the call, my phone rang again. It was Sheila. Coincidentally, I had thought to call her after speaking with my father over the phone.“Hello, Andrew,” Sheila said softly, her voice wavering slightly. “I was wondering what you’d like for dinner tonight.”A rush of warmth spread through me. Sheila was calling to ask about dinner? It was such a simple thing, but it felt a bit….intimate. “Sheila, are you asking me what I’d like for dinner?” I asked.“Yes,” she replied, her voice tinged with a shy hesitation. “I thought… I thought it might be nice.”“That sounds good,” I replied. “How about we have something simple? Maybe pasta?”“Pasta it is,” she said, and I could hear the smile in her voice. “I’ll see you at home, then.”“I’m looking forward to it.”As I hung up the phone, I felt a familiar feeling—som
Sheila's POVThe night had been filled with passion, but it all came crashing down suddenly. I had let my guard down and dared to dream, only to be punished for my foolishness.I felt like a fool, a big fool!Who was Evelyn? Probably his mistress or lover. Of course, a rich and handsome man like him would have someone to satisfy his desires. She must have been in his life long before I became his wife.I lay on my bed, thinking about the amazing, electrifying kiss we had just shared. I had allowed myself to hope, to dream of a future where Andrew and I could be more than just two people bound by circumstance.I thought we had a connection and that our feelings were growing. How could I have imagined a Cinderella happily ever after with Andrew?“Sheila, please open the door,” I heard Andrew's voice from the other side.I ignored him as I lay on my bed, refusing to move an inch.“Sheila,” he called out softly again. His voice brought fresh tears to my eyes. Why did I feel so heartbroken
Simeon's POVAs we packed up the food, I couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging that I hadn't experienced in years. My heart raced with excitement. A family picnic? I’d never had one in my life. The thought of spending an entire day with Sheila and her mom—laughing, eating, and simply being together—felt surreal. It was a feeling I didn’t want to let go of, and I’d decided to take things one step further. “All right, ladies,” I announced as I helped them into the car. “I’ve got the perfect place in mind for this picnic, a little getaway.” Sheila frowned, her brow furrowing as she buckled her seatbelt. “Getaway? Simeon, this is just supposed to be a picnic. What are you talking about?” Mia and I exchanged a knowing glance. This was the part where Sheila would start protesting, but we were already prepared. “It’s Saturday,” I said casually, pulling onto the road. “I figured we could make this a mini vacation—stay ove
Sheila's POV The smell of something sweet wafted through the air, pulling me out of my room and straight toward the kitchen. I leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, and smiled. “Mom, are the cookies ready yet?” I asked, hoping she’d let me sneak a taste. She glanced over her shoulder, an apron tied snugly around her waist. “Almost,” she replied, her hands busy rolling out dough. I stepped closer and tied on an apron of my own. “Let me help then. You’re always saying teamwork makes the dream work.” She chuckled as I joined her at the counter, and we worked side by side, kneading and shaping the dough. Halfway through, while the scent of freshly baked cookies filled the air, Mom turned to me with a sly smile. “Should I make an extra batch?” she asked casually, but I could see her eyes glinting mischievously. “You know, since these are Simeon’s favorites.” I rolled my eyes playfully. “Mom, is Simeon a buffalo you’re p
Andrew's POV Evelyn headed to her room before I could even mention Simeon's name, and slammed the door really hard, leaving no room for further confrontations.I stood motionless, my fists clenched at my sides. I couldn’t bring myself to call her back or say another word. Not after what she had revealed. She had heard me mutter Sheila’s name in my sleep. When did this happen? And why hadn’t Evelyn confronted me sooner? The thought gnawed at my mind, making me feel guilty. Was it something I had dreamt unconsciously, or was it the part of me I’d tried so desperately to suppress surfacing in the worst possible way?I turned and headed to the study. The air inside the room was stifling, but it matched the suffocating weight on my chest. I grabbed a bottle of whiskey from the shelf, poured myself a glass, and downed it in one go. The burn of the alcohol was sharp, but it did little to dull the chaos in my head.Opening the balcony door, I let the cool night air wash over me. I sank into
Evelyn’s POVI bent down slowly, my fingers trembling as I picked up one of the pictures Andrew had thrown at me. My heart raced as the image in my hand sent a chill down my spine. It was a photo of me holding Simeon’s hand. How… how did Andrew get this? When I had sarcastically asked if he was stalking me earlier, I hadn’t expected him to actually do it. But here it was—evidence that he’d hired someone to follow me. I clenched the photo in my hand, my shock instantly turning into anger. Without thinking, I threw it back at him, and asked in a sharp voice,“What is this, Andrew? Am I a prisoner in your house now? A prisoner who can’t step outside without the warden’s permission?” Andrew remained unmoved, his expression cold and stern. “This isn’t about being a prisoner, Evelyn. What exactly were you doing with Simeon?” His question stung, not because I didn’t have an answer, but because of the sheer audacity of it. What did he think I was doing with Simeon? I took a deep bre
Andrew’s POV I stood in the shadows, my arms crossed tightly over my chest, watching as Evelyn quietly slipped into the house. She moved carefully, shutting the door gently, as if trying not to wake anyone. The faint click echoed in the silence, and I waited, my patience thinning with every passing second. She didn’t see me. Her focus was on the stairs, her steps light but quick. It was clear she wanted to get to her room without encountering anyone. But she wouldn’t get that luxury tonight. “Where have you been, Evelyn?” My low, sharp voice immediately broke the stillness. She froze mid-step, clutching her bag tightly. A startled shriek escaped her lips as she turned abruptly, her wide eyes searching the shadows until they landed on me. “Andrew!” she exclaimed. “Why would you do that? You scared me!” I didn’t answer, didn’t move. I just stood there, letting the silence stretch between us. Her brows furrowed as she stepped down from the stairs she was about to climb,
Evelyn's POV I stood there, frozen, my hands clenched into fists as I watched Simeon leave with Sheila. My chest heaved with every breath, the anger bubbling inside me. My eyes burned with the rage coursing through me. How could he? How dare he? When I learned about Sheila, I felt this desperate need to meet her. I had to see for myself what made her so special—why she seemed to be at the center of everything. But every time I tried, something came up, and I was kept away. It felt like the universe was conspiring to keep us apart. Today, I’d had enough. I snuck out of the house, driving for hours, determined to meet this woman who had somehow managed to get involved with everything—or rather, everyone—that used to matter to me. What I didn’t expect was to run into Simeon. Seeing him after all this time—it should have felt like a reunion, a moment of happiness. Instead, his coldness pierced through me like a dagger. Why her? Why Sheila? A woman he barely knew compared to
Sheila's POVAs I stepped out of the building with Simeon, I felt the cool breeze hit my skin. Simeon was quiet beside me, his expression unreadable as we walked to the car. I wasn’t sure what to say, so I stayed silent, giving him the space he seemed to need. When we got into the car, Simeon gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles white. He didn’t turn the ignition or say a word, just stared straight ahead. I could tell the confrontation with Evelyn had drained him. It wasn’t just about meeting her unexpectedly—it was about the love, betrayal, and unresolved feelings she represented. I didn’t blame him for being lost in thought. After what felt like an eternity, I glanced at him, hesitating before softly asking, “Are you alright?” He blinked, as if coming out of a trance, and managed a faint smile. “Yeah, I’m fine,” he replied, but I could hear the strain in his voice. Feeling a pang of guilt, I began to apologize. “I’m sorry, Simeon. I had no idea she was Mrs. Asher. I sh
Simeon's POVThe moment I walked into the grand lobby, my eyes scanned the surroundings in search of Sheila. I didn’t expect the scene that greeted me. Just across the room, I spotted them: Sheila and Evelyn... together. How was this possible? What was Evelyn doing in this part of town? I stared at Evelyn, and saw how beautifully well she had recovered ever since I last saw her at the hospital. My heart seemed to have skipped a beat, watching her so full of life and vigor.Seeing her seated across from Sheila, looking at Sheila as if she was a piece of garbage, set off alarm bells in my head. I'd always known Evelyn to be sharp and outspoken....what was she saying to Sheila?I buried my emotions deep within my heart and walked closer, unnoticed for now, catching the tail end of Evelyn’s words, her tone dripping with disdain. “...what happens when Simeon gets tired of you, too? Who will you latch on to? Let me guess… their grandfather?” Sheila stood frozen, her face pale and sp
Sheila's POV As I walked into the grand lobby of the building, my heels clicking softly against the polished marble floor, I felt a wave of nervousness was through me.The air was cool, carrying the faint scent of fresh flowers and expensive perfume. Everything about this place screamed wealth and splendor.Clutching my bag tightly, I approached the reception desk. The woman seated behind it gave me a polite smile. “I’m here for a meeting with Mrs. Asher,” I said to the woman. She nodded and gestured toward the lounge area. “Welcome, Ma’am. You’ll find her at the table near the window.” “Oh, okay, thank you very much,” and made my way toward the spot she indicated. My eyes scanned the tables until they landed on a woman seated in the corner. She was quite hard to miss. She wore a long scarf tied elegantly around her neck, its silk edges catching the light. Her oversized black sunglasses concealed much of her face, but her posture and demeanor were undeniably poised. Something about
