A message in blood

Andrew's POV

The police station felt suffocating, every breath I took feeling heavier than the last. As I entered the interrogation room, my eyes locked onto the young woman sitting at the table.

She looked frail, like a ghost of someone who had once been full of life with her pale skin and her hair which was a mess of tangled strands. She looked like a girl in her early twenties, but her eyes—they were dark, hollow, and filled with something I couldn’t name. Something that made me feel like I was staring into an abyss.

James was standing in the corner, his gaze fixed on her. I moved toward him, my voice barely a whisper. "How did you find her? Are you sure she's the one we’ve been looking for?"

"She's the prime suspect. She was caught in Dante’s ward," James replied, his tone grave. "Pretending to be a nurse. She had a syringe and tried to inject Dante before the security guards noticed the abnormality and rushed to stop her—doctors said it was lethal."
