Fiona's POV

The house was quiet when I stepped into my room. I looked left and right before I turned the lock, shutting the door behind me with a soft click and making sure there were no prying eyes or ears.

I made my way to the bathroom and turned on the tap, letting the water run as a steady, soothing background noise. Immediately, I pulled out my phone and didn't waste time to dial the number.

“Come on, pick up! pick up!” I silently urged as I waited.The phone rang twice before it was picked by the familiar voice on the other end.

“Why wasn’t I informed sooner of the sudden arrangement to move Sheila’s mother from the hospital? Why didn't you tell me?” I demanded, my voice barely above a whisper, yet laced with anger. The sudden transfer had thrown everything I'd worked so hard for off, and I needed answers.
