Danica wasn't quite sure just how long she sat on that bench watching as the sun disappeared and the moon appeared, time ceased to exist as she let her depressing thoughts completely consume her.
As she continued to feel sorry for herself she also promised herself that this would be the last time. Chris was right, she needed to get herself straight otherwise she wouldn't get anywhere. If she needed to find the sorcerer that cast her curse to break it, then she needed to know how to fight.
Finding a new conviction Danica headed back to her dorm to sleep, determined to wake up the following morning ready to become a better her.
"You're doing great!" Chris called as Danica managed to pin Bella to the ground winning her first match ever against her. "I don't know what has changed but keep it up!"
Huffing Danica helped Bella to her feet. "Good match." She said smiling and placing a hand on Bella's shoulder.
"Seems you
Day turned into night as Danica continued pushing forward, only when her lungs and body could no longer withstand did she finally stop.Leaning forward with her hands on her knees she greedily sucked in large gulps of air as she tried to take in her surroundings.Surveying the area she determined she wasn't near the training grounds or the barracks anymore, that much she was certain of. Instead she found herself deep in the woods and had no idea which direction would lead her back to where she came from.Laughing inwardly she plopped on the ground and mentally kicked herself for being so impulsive. She had thoroughly managed to get herself lost. Not wanting to stick around too long Danica pushed herself up and began walking in the direction she was pretty sure she had come running from. Worst come to worst she would end up even more lost, best she would at least find a road or something to indicate exactly where she was.
As Danica sat alone in Mason's room she allowed herself to finally relax. It had taken most of the night for her to openly tell Mason everything that had been going on with her for the past week, from the dark being she felt come to life within her, to her locked away inner wolf. In the end he had quietly listened and hadn't judged her or shown any type of repose to her as she spoke.Once finished with her confession she had allowed Mason to leave the room long enough to go speak with his Beta Chris about what all Danica had told him, after all Chris was Danica's current coach and he needed to be aware of her condition as well.Hoping that she hadn't just revealed that she was crazy Danica flopped down on Mason's bed spreading her arms wide beside her. Staring at the roof above she watched as rays of light began making their way across the surface. It seemed that Danica had managed to stay up the entire night, with the memory of making her firs
The following week passed in a blur or training and preparing for a journey to visit Nigel and Ash once more. After Danica had confided in Mason about the dark being within her, he had suggested they visit the Shaman and his apprentice to see if they knew anything about what was going on.After that day Danica hadn't seen Mason very much as reports of more rogue attacks had begun to string in from pack members that were spread out throughout the entire state. With the attacks increasing Mason had been forced to call the entire pack together for a meeting to discuss what was to be done about the attacks.Danica found herself feeling extremely nervous as the time of the meeting grew closer and closer, as the future Luna as Mason would say she was required to attend and be part of the discussion. Even if she wasn't even a full fledged wolf and wasn't able to change she was still to present herself. With two important events looming on
Sophia and Abigail lounged on the bed watching as Danica paced back and forth. It was the night of the meet and Danica was much too nervous to relax."You're going to burn a hole in the floor." Abigail pointed out as she twisted a stray lock of hair around her finger."Yeah, you look great so relax." Sophia assured smiling. "After all, you had a great makeup artist work on you."Stopping Danica looked at her two roommates. "I don't actually have to go right?"Despite knowing that she did infact have to go, she still tried to convince herself otherwise. Being the creature of solitude that she was she hated having attention on her. That meant that just the thought of having to introduce herself to an entire pack of wolves was pushing her to a panic attack."Relax." Abigail sighed, "It isn't that big of a deal okay?""How is it not that big of a deal?" Danica demanded while trying to calm her racing heart."
Danica watched as men heaved large wolf carcesses into a fire blazing brightly in the middle of the training grounds. It hadn't taken much time for Mason's pack members to kill the rogues that had been brave enough to attack on their grounds. With no other way to get rid of the bodies they had settled on burning. From what Danica had saw they came across as way too easy to kill and something about the whole situation was feeling very off to her. Despite her pointing this out to Mason he had insisted that nothing was wrong and she was simply being paranoid.Even though she couldn't argue with his logic, she still couldn't shake the sense of foreboding that she was beginning to feel."You don't have to stay and watch this." Mason said now placing a jacket around Danica's shoulders."I'm alright." Danica muttered keeping her gaze fixed on the fire ahead."Are you sure?" It was easy to tell that Mason was worried fo
Gasping for air Danica pulled herself away from Mason's embrace. "What do you think you're doing?" She demanded as her face flushed a bright pink. "Your pack members are sick and you're sitting here trying to sexually harass me!" Chuckling Mason just shrugged, "I didn't see you putting up much of a fight just now." Bristling Danica tried to come up with an argument but was having a hard time doing so. Mason was right she hadn't fought him, and not only did she not fight him she actually responded to his advance. The mate bond was definitely growing stronger by the day and soon she didn't think that she would be able to withstand it at all. "Putting that aside, we need to focus on your sick pack members." Danica tried changing the subject. "Right." Mason muttered running a hand through his hair. "I'm supposed to be meeting with the medics soon to discuss whether or not they have figured anything out."
When Mason returned from his talk with Dr. Williams his face was devoid of all color. It was obvius that whatever the doctor had told him had seriously shaken him. Not sure how to go about asking what exactly had been said Danica instead just grabbed Mason's hand. She hoped that the sensations she sent to him would help soothe him as it soothed her. Sighing Mason pulled her into a hug burying his face in her neck. "That bad?" She asked cautiously as she wrapped her arms around Mason's waist. "Something like that." Mason murmured as his arms tightened their hold. "What did he say?" She wasn't sure if Mason was going to tell her, but it never hurt to ask. Lifting his head Mason looked into Danica's eyes. "Dr. Williams thinks they may have Rage Virus." "Rage Virus?" Danica asked not sure if she heard right. "Yeah, he isn't one hundred percent at this time, but their symptoms fit." Mason's face
It was well after dark when Mason finally woke up allowing Danica the opportunity to get up and stretch. Since he had been sleeping so well she just couldn't bring herself to move, so she had spent the entire time laying there just staring at the roof while being lost in her head."Morning." Danica said as Mason sat up and yawned."Mooorrning." Mason replied while yawning again. "How long did you let me sleep?""No idea." Danica wasn't sure how long it had been, she had been so engrossed in her thoughts she hadn't paid attention to the time.Getting up Mason walked over to the dresser and checked his phone. "Eight.""So, like eight hours?" Danica confirmed, no wonder she felt so stiff.Standing she did a few basic stretches to loosen up her muscles. As she did so her stomach gave a grumble. Blushing she tried to not look at Mason who was eyeing her."Should I feed you?" Mason chuckled walking over to wher
