As Danica sat alone in Mason's room she allowed herself to finally relax. It had taken most of the night for her to openly tell Mason everything that had been going on with her for the past week, from the dark being she felt come to life within her, to her locked away inner wolf. In the end he had quietly listened and hadn't judged her or shown any type of repose to her as she spoke.
Once finished with her confession she had allowed Mason to leave the room long enough to go speak with his Beta Chris about what all Danica had told him, after all Chris was Danica's current coach and he needed to be aware of her condition as well.
Hoping that she hadn't just revealed that she was crazy Danica flopped down on Mason's bed spreading her arms wide beside her. Staring at the roof above she watched as rays of light began making their way across the surface.
It seemed that Danica had managed to stay up the entire night, with the memory of making her firs
The following week passed in a blur or training and preparing for a journey to visit Nigel and Ash once more. After Danica had confided in Mason about the dark being within her, he had suggested they visit the Shaman and his apprentice to see if they knew anything about what was going on.After that day Danica hadn't seen Mason very much as reports of more rogue attacks had begun to string in from pack members that were spread out throughout the entire state. With the attacks increasing Mason had been forced to call the entire pack together for a meeting to discuss what was to be done about the attacks.Danica found herself feeling extremely nervous as the time of the meeting grew closer and closer, as the future Luna as Mason would say she was required to attend and be part of the discussion. Even if she wasn't even a full fledged wolf and wasn't able to change she was still to present herself. With two important events looming on
Sophia and Abigail lounged on the bed watching as Danica paced back and forth. It was the night of the meet and Danica was much too nervous to relax."You're going to burn a hole in the floor." Abigail pointed out as she twisted a stray lock of hair around her finger."Yeah, you look great so relax." Sophia assured smiling. "After all, you had a great makeup artist work on you."Stopping Danica looked at her two roommates. "I don't actually have to go right?"Despite knowing that she did infact have to go, she still tried to convince herself otherwise. Being the creature of solitude that she was she hated having attention on her. That meant that just the thought of having to introduce herself to an entire pack of wolves was pushing her to a panic attack."Relax." Abigail sighed, "It isn't that big of a deal okay?""How is it not that big of a deal?" Danica demanded while trying to calm her racing heart."
Danica watched as men heaved large wolf carcesses into a fire blazing brightly in the middle of the training grounds. It hadn't taken much time for Mason's pack members to kill the rogues that had been brave enough to attack on their grounds. With no other way to get rid of the bodies they had settled on burning. From what Danica had saw they came across as way too easy to kill and something about the whole situation was feeling very off to her. Despite her pointing this out to Mason he had insisted that nothing was wrong and she was simply being paranoid.Even though she couldn't argue with his logic, she still couldn't shake the sense of foreboding that she was beginning to feel."You don't have to stay and watch this." Mason said now placing a jacket around Danica's shoulders."I'm alright." Danica muttered keeping her gaze fixed on the fire ahead."Are you sure?" It was easy to tell that Mason was worried fo
Gasping for air Danica pulled herself away from Mason's embrace. "What do you think you're doing?" She demanded as her face flushed a bright pink. "Your pack members are sick and you're sitting here trying to sexually harass me!" Chuckling Mason just shrugged, "I didn't see you putting up much of a fight just now." Bristling Danica tried to come up with an argument but was having a hard time doing so. Mason was right she hadn't fought him, and not only did she not fight him she actually responded to his advance. The mate bond was definitely growing stronger by the day and soon she didn't think that she would be able to withstand it at all. "Putting that aside, we need to focus on your sick pack members." Danica tried changing the subject. "Right." Mason muttered running a hand through his hair. "I'm supposed to be meeting with the medics soon to discuss whether or not they have figured anything out."
When Mason returned from his talk with Dr. Williams his face was devoid of all color. It was obvius that whatever the doctor had told him had seriously shaken him. Not sure how to go about asking what exactly had been said Danica instead just grabbed Mason's hand. She hoped that the sensations she sent to him would help soothe him as it soothed her. Sighing Mason pulled her into a hug burying his face in her neck. "That bad?" She asked cautiously as she wrapped her arms around Mason's waist. "Something like that." Mason murmured as his arms tightened their hold. "What did he say?" She wasn't sure if Mason was going to tell her, but it never hurt to ask. Lifting his head Mason looked into Danica's eyes. "Dr. Williams thinks they may have Rage Virus." "Rage Virus?" Danica asked not sure if she heard right. "Yeah, he isn't one hundred percent at this time, but their symptoms fit." Mason's face
It was well after dark when Mason finally woke up allowing Danica the opportunity to get up and stretch. Since he had been sleeping so well she just couldn't bring herself to move, so she had spent the entire time laying there just staring at the roof while being lost in her head."Morning." Danica said as Mason sat up and yawned."Mooorrning." Mason replied while yawning again. "How long did you let me sleep?""No idea." Danica wasn't sure how long it had been, she had been so engrossed in her thoughts she hadn't paid attention to the time.Getting up Mason walked over to the dresser and checked his phone. "Eight.""So, like eight hours?" Danica confirmed, no wonder she felt so stiff.Standing she did a few basic stretches to loosen up her muscles. As she did so her stomach gave a grumble. Blushing she tried to not look at Mason who was eyeing her."Should I feed you?" Mason chuckled walking over to wher
Mason paced around the cluttered space that was Nigel's living room. The old man had just finished telling them all about the prophecy and since Mason was unable to keep himself calm.Danica on the other hand was feeling a little too calm. Maybe it was because it seemed surreal to her, after all it had only been a little less than a month that she had come to be part of this world and now suddenly there was a war coming. If that was the case then what did that mean about them? What would they be able to do?As it was Danica was unable to change and would be absolutely no help in the long run, that alone made her feel some type of way."Can you stop." Nigel suddenly snapped drawing everyone's attention to him. "You're driving me mad with that wild pacing."Flinching Mason flushed slightly, "Sorry, I just can't sit idly.""But what good will all that pacing do you?" Nigel asked sagely.Huffing Mason plopped down
It was mid afternoon by the time Danica found herself breaking from all her swirling thoughts. It was the day of the full moon and she was well aware of what was to come later. As so much had gone on recently she had no time to truly consider the pain that she was going to have to go through once again. Now that the time was here it was all she could think of. Top that with a possible war breaking out, all the rogue attacks, the outbreak, and she had a mess inside her head. They had still not fully determined what Mason's infected pack members were carrying, but instead of getting better they all seemed to be worsening. On top of that even more pack members had begun to show signs of having the illness as well. Where originally the abandoned building had only held about ten deranged wolves, it now housed up to thirty.Mason had spent most of the morning making phone calls and doing paperwork, allowing Danica to be to herself.
"Any news?" Danica asked Bella as she hovered around fixing her hair. "How many times do I have to say it? Mason will let you know if they find the harpies and trolls." Bella huffed slamming down a blush brush. "Now, could you please be still so I can finish your makeup." "Yes ma am." Danica replied snapping her mouth shut. A month passed by in a blur, no matter how much Mason's scouts searched they just couldn't seem to find Marie or her army. It was an odd occurence, because anytime they would get a trail it would vanish as quickly as it appeared, leaving everyone at square one once more. Though they had recruited the help of sorcerer's to see if they could possibly find the harpies with their abilities, even they came up empty handed. It was almost as if they had disappeared from existence entirely. After two weeks of this is was almost as if the war was nothing more than a bad dream, aside from the casualties that b
"Acting tough now are we?" Marie laughed taking Danica in. "Do you really think I'm scared of you?""You should be." Danica growled as she felt something within her begin to stir. "I still owe you for my parents, a life for a life sounds fair."Tilting her head back Marie let out a loud laugh, "Come then little wolf, show me what you can do."Lunging forward Marie held out her clawed hands ready to grab Danica, but Danica was faster, moving out of the way before turning and grabbing Marie by her wing. Heaving she yanked and threw Marie to the side causing the harpie to stumble. Not giving her a chance to regroup Danica pounced tackling Marie to the ground. Shrieks escaped the harpie queen as she fought for Dominance against Danica."Get off me!" Marie growled as she clawed at Danica's face. "How dare you a puny wolf think that you are any match for me!""Seems like this puny little wolf is the one in control rig
"Let's go." Danica ordered beginning to move forward only to be stopped by Mason. "What?" She demanded meeting his gaze."You can't possibly think that I'm going to let you step anywhere near any of that fighting." Mason hissed."Why not?" Danica demanded trying to break free of his grip. "You can't possibly think I'm just going to sit here and wait for who knows what!""Yes, that's exactly what I expect you to do." Mason responded seriously. "You are pregnant now, your priority is keeping our child safe."Mason's words felt like a slap to Danica. Even though she really wanted to be beside him fighting, he was right, she was pregnant now and her top priority was to protect the life that was growing within her. No matter how she wanted to try to deny his logic, she simply couldn't."What am I to do if they breach the dorms?" Danica sighed conceeding to Mason's point. "Should I not fight back then as well?"
"You going to be okay?" Mason asked wrapping his arms around Danica."Yeah, I'll be okay." Danica responded leaning against him. After returning home Mason decided to run a nice hot bath for the both of them, his way of trying to help Danica feel the slightest bit better about the news they had recieved.Stripping had been slightly awkward for Danica due to Mason's blanching when he saw the scars that now permanently littered her back from Marie, but once she had submerged her body she couldn't help but admit that the bath was helping."Do you think this little one will be born into a peaceful world?" Danica asked closing her eyes.Mason who had slid a hand to rest on Danica's stomach let out a long sigh, "I hope so.""You don't have confidence in beating them?" Danica asked eyes widening. "I thought that was what all the preperations were for.""When it comes to war you never know what will happen." Mason pointed out pulling Da
Two weeks passed in a blink. After the night of Danica's rescue, Mason began to gather all reinforcements across the entire continent, preparing for an outright attack on the trolls and the harpies. Arlo, who remained neutral, had decided to stay out of the entire thing along with his elven brethren, a fact that surprised Danica greatly given his strong aversion to her.Nigel and Ash busied themselves collecting the sorcerer clans from the darklands that were willing to help the werewolves with the war as well, though their numbers were few they would still be a major asset when the time came. For the entire two weeks signs of army building was detected by scouts that Mason hid within the darklands, from what was being reported it wouldn't be much longer before Marie and Talon waged their attacks and this time Mason was well prepared. The room Danica and Mason shared had been converted into a mini headquarters where Mason held meetings and planned at
"I'm going to be a mom?" Danica asked not sure if she had heard the doctor correctly. "What do you mean I'm going to be a mom?"The air around Danica had grown thin and she was having a very hard time breathing. After everything that had happened in the past two days, she wasn't sure she could even handle anymore surprises. Not to mention, there was about to be a war, how could she possibly have gotten herself pregnant?"Exactly as I said Luna." Dr. Gerald chirped oblivious to the fact Danica wasn't happy about his news. "You're about a month along already."Turning her gaze to Mason Danica tried to make sense of what was going on. Unlike her Mason was smiling from ear to ear as he met Danica's eyes."We're going to be parents!" Mason exclaimed laughing. "Are you sure Dr. Gerald?""Yep, pretty positive the hormone levels don't lie." Dr. Gerald confirmed passing his clipboard over to Mason. "Congratulations
"Any brilliant ideas?" Danica asked while looking over her shoulder at the harpies that were quickly gaining on them.'Just a little further.' Mason responded picking up speed. 'There is a portal ahead and reinforcements waiting.'"What about the ones that were in the harpie palace?" Danica asked as fear clutched her heart. "You've got a lot of explaining to do when we get back."'Sure.' Mason chuckled."Now's not the time to be laughing."From behind Danica could hear the harpies and trolls gaining on them. It seemed that if they didn't reach the portal soon they would be recaptured."They're gaining on us!" Danica shrieked while ducking as a harpie swooped down towards her from above. As the harpie attempted to right herself something unseen slammed into her sending her flying to the ground. Hissing and shrieking the harpie tried to break free from whatever had hold of it.From the wounds that we
Danica bolted as quickly as her injured leg would allow her down the brightly lit hallway looking here and there for a room to sneak into in an attempt to throw Marie. She had managed to lock her in the stairwell, giving herself some time to make some distance, but the door wouldn't hold the furious harpie queen much longer.Turning to look behind her Danica didn't expect a strong set of hands to grab and yank her into a dark room before wrapping around her mouth to stop a scream that tried to escape."It's me." Mason's voice whispered in Danica's ear sending a wave of comfort through her.Turning slightly Danica looked into his warm green eyes as all her fear and worry immediately washed away."About time." Danica sighed pulling Mason's hand away from her mouth. "I was beginning to believe you wouldn't be able to find me.""Nothing in this world would stop me from finding you." Mason insisted with a small smile.Feeling her hear
'Danica...' the soft voice drifted into Danica's mind as she hovered between awake and unconcious. 'Please....' The wolfs bane that ran through her veins kept Danica from truly being able to be aware. She could only guess that Marie was worried if she was fully alert she would try to contact Mason through the mindlink and give away what was going on. 'Please respond.' The voice seemed to be growing desperate. 'Where are you?' Trying to collect all her strength Danica did her best to connect with whoever the voice belonged to. In her delirious state she wasn't fully able to place a finger on who was calling out to her, but she had a feeling it was Mason. 'I don't know.' Danica's voice came out in barely a whisper as she fought to stay aware long enough to communicate. 'Some underground holding cell.' 'Did you see the scenery when they brought you there?' Mason demanded as Danica felt his anger beginn
