Kamille's POV

Monitors. Beep sounds. IVs. White walls.

What's that weird smell?

I woke up to the antiseptic smell of a hospital, the sterile white walls and faint beeping of machines around me. My head throbbed with a dull ache, and as I sat up, the memories flooded back. Zeke...

Zeke had been shot.

Panic surged through me, overriding the pain and confusion. I stumbled out of the bed, my legs shaky beneath me. As I hurried down the hallway, I almost collided with Amanda, who caught me in a tight hug.

"Kamille, you're awake," she said, relief evident in her voice.

"Zeke," I managed to choke out. "I need to see Zeke."

Amanda held me at arm's length, her eyes searching mine with concern. "You barely survived a shootout, and your first worry is for another?"

Before I could respond, Belle appeared with Zane at her side. Those have been getting closer a lot, lately.

“She's right, Kamille," Belle said gently. "Zeke is this way, but you need to rest,"
