Hundred and twenty eight

Kamille's POV

I woke to the soft murmur of morning light filtering through the hospital room. Blinking away sleep, I found myself nestled in Zeke's arms, his steady heartbeat beneath my palm. As I stirred, attempting to sit up, Zeke's voice stopped me gently.

"Don't move just yet," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep. "Stay here for a moment."

Confused but trusting his tone, I remained still. Then he lifted my hand and rested it on his chest.

“Are you alright?” I asked, his words echoed in my mind, "It beats for you." Heat flooded my cheeks, and I couldn't help but smile despite the worries that had haunted us.

"What's wrong?" I asked softly, turning to look at him.

Zeke smiled, his eyes warm as he gazed back at me. "Nothing's wrong. Just enjoying a moment with you," he said quietly.

“Stop being so cheesy, Zeke,” I smiled.
