Chapter 35

The next morning wasn't delightful. I expected this. More or less.

I was here sitting in my room, shedding Niagara falls from my eyes after a weird sensation hit me. I call it 'The guilt of disappointing my husband'.

Which is weird. Why? Even I don't know. After going through all that conversation that happened between us, I realized I was wrong. That's good, but what more did I feel?

The pain of making Noah upset. I don't know why I've been feeling this for the past few hours. I didn't get a wink of sleep... actually, I did sleep, but as soon as I woke up, the train of last night's thoughts hit me again.

It is weird because I don't have any sort of attachment with Noah. He's a stranger to me, and we got married too recently. I couldn't have feelings built up for him, right?

With a heavy heart, I opened the door to my room and found the hallway quiet.

It's not a good thing... but then chaos or loud noise is also not a good thing 'cause that signals towards my clumsiness.

Hello, It's your girl, Sabrina. Yeah, I really gave up on this book. I don't know whether anyone is reading it or not. The writing pattern changed since it's been long. I decided to finish this story with a better plot than the original one. I only changed a minor part that doesn't affect the plot, really. Well, I'll be making sure it finishes in 10 or so chapters.

What day is today? I can't stop thinking about what Noah said earlier. It's been on my mind all day, and now I'm alone with all these strange assumptions swirling around in my head. Noah had some work to attend to, and I didn't wanna go to my Uni, so here I am. I'm trying to bake a cake. I decided not to overthink... for now, at least. Also, my apology needs a supporter, though he already has forgiven me. But to lighten up things and to get my mind over the word 'Wife', that's been ringing up in my head, I am attempting a world-class murder- I mean, making a decent edible cake. Did I ever mention that I can't cook? Or was it that I suck at cooking? "Snap out of it! Alright, Millie. Now is your time to shine... with sparkle, not smoke." I muttered the latter in hopes of succeeding. "First step. Preheat the oven..." I turned behind as I fearfully stared at my oven. It's the first step to disaster for me. That oven has been through a lot, always surviving from my at

Millie's POV Alright, alright. I got this. Yes, I definitely got this. I'm not an amateur- well, I am but that doesn't count because right now, what I am about to do is an act of bravery and challenge. Yeah! "Next up is Millie Quinn presenting the topic on Trade Markets-" I abruptly stood up, pushing the chair in sudden that it toppled, getting tangled in my legs and... Guess what? I fell to the ground. Proudly indicating how much of a klutz I am and a nuisance to my own life. I groaned in pain, doubting I must've sprained my ankle or broke an arm but definitely invited new areas to be bruised. "Are you alright, Miss Millie?" My professor asked, coming to my aid as he stretched his hand out. I obliged his help because I had a feeling I would make him trip as well. Why, do I have such a strong feeling that clumsiness is staring down at me from every little aspect to grab and the opportunity and gain a ton of throbbing shooting through my body? "I'm alright, Sir," I mumbled, gr

I was lying my head on the locker that was supposed to be opened and have used to exchange my books for the next class but I couldn't move as I recollected the humiliation I, unobjectively, showcased."How long am I supposed to stare at you doing absolutely nothing?" Meredith asked, blinking at me boringly.I huffed, "Be my guest, I guess." I hated meeting the same students who possibly were gossiping about my embarrassing moment. And that wasn't just a single one this year. Scratch that, this week. The faint sound of heels clicking against the floor echoed in my ears as I concentrated on the source. Strangely, I knew who it could be belonging to."What's wrong with her?" Hailey asked, shooting a wary glance at me."She's holding onto her priceless embarrassing moment." Meredith sighed, stomping."Why are you both here? Leave me alone." I whined. "Anyways, since you guys are here, let's bunk our last classes.""You're seconds of mood change, honestly scares me," Hailey commented, weari

Meredith dropped me off at my house, informing me about the next meet-up and shrugging away my fearing body towards the house that seemed like it would gallop me any second.Let's see if I succeed at lying. Note the sarcasm.I opened the door, inviting myself inside the warm house."Millie? Is that you?" My mom called out, a second after I closed the door behind and tensed up."No, it's my soul." I slapped my forehead for the slip-off. Goofing with my best friends is making me accidentally use the same tone and language towards my mother."What?" She said, storming to the front door as she saw me standing with a regret flowing in my veins.

To say, I'm an obedient daughter with, obviously, clumsiness playing beside me. Never have I ever thought I would do something extremely deranging, crazy and perilous."Yes, you're grounded." She repeated herself, making sure I don't ask another time. "Go back in your room. It's time I call a babysitter for you.""Mom!! I'm not a kid to have a babysitter monitor me.. . for what? 24 hours of a day." I was exasperated, disagreeing with her brilliant idea. Now here's the thing. It's not like my mother never appointed babysitters for me when she had business trips and contests to judge. But, all in vain, there were hundreds of complaints registered against me which led them to quit the job- which had a pretty fair pay- and now those files are probably rotting somewhere in the attic. These babysitters even took payment for their damages. I'm not a monster or anything but it's just their necessity stuff used to mesmerize me and as a curious explorer child, I was prompted to check them out."

  • Babysitting My Wife   Chapter 5

I'll spare the long drive to Las Vegas which wasn't the ideal kind like shown in the movies. It was like we were resurrected as zombies with dark under-eye bags and hair disheveled, practically a nest for a bird to settle in.Or it was just my hair that would resemble a nest. Curly hair, my friends. I'm the only one from the squad to have such hair.Aside from that, we safely landed in Las Vegas having to almost hustle against jerks on the Jeep who raced us on the highway, and Hailey was hyped and streaked our ride, cutting the duration of the long trip."Finally! I am able to stand rather than sit for hours." Meredith exclaimed, plopping down on the grass.Hailey went off to book us a room in the hotel by herself and I wasn't gonna protest over it. The money I earn goes straight to my ravenous hunger strike stomach and the college expenses as well.Meredith, well... I clearly have no idea what she does. She's this slim girl in our squad whose weight doesn't increase. Sadly, I'm the ki

I nervously tapped my foot against the floor of the elevator. We both were alone, waiting to reach the room that my friends had decided to share it with them."Um... I...nevermind." I mumbled, giving up to make a conversation with him.I didn't even get his name and all I could remember was his eyes that were captivating. Now that we're standing beside each other, he's pretty tall.Sucks to be short."Um, thank you for saving me earlier..." I mumbled, barely able to hear over myself. My ears were turning red and I felt a lump forming in my throat when he twisted to look at me.Okay, he's very intimidating. Did I forget I can't talk to boys well??He smiled, actually smiled with his lips stretched out and that added more charm to his face, brightening the glow in his warm eyes.I coughed, averting my gaze before I ende

Funny how things turn out whenever Las Vegas is added in the lives of an individual because it has gotten many untold stories and risks borne from it.Just like that, I had a story to tell as well but oh, boy! I first need to sober up.I laid flat on my back, staring at the mahogany ceiling which was halfway distracting my thoughts but nevertheless, I replayed the encounter with Noah Hudson. The guy seemed like a gentleman and probably older than me.Now, he got the good looks but I didn't have any fluttery feeling rising in the pits of my diaphragm. The feeling of flushed up by the butterflies.Or it's more like getting murdered by the butterflies?I blinked, frowning, baffled by my strange weird yet creepy thoughts emerging especially after midnight. I couldn't quite sleep since my mind has been occupied over certain someone."Hailey? Hailey?" I called out to her in a soft whisper. She hummed, shifting her slumpy body and drap

Where were we? In the middle of negotiation. Well, it was most likely from my side than theirs. All they wanted was to get as much money they could grab on."I don't have any money. You think, I can afford even this frozen yoghurt?... Yes, I can but I'm grounded. Why? Because I broke my mother's toaster. Do you even understand how that relatively is senseless?"Silence fell in and responses dried up from my random ranting. Plus, this ain't really the right time and right place to rant out about my personal life problems."That is senseless! My mom smacked my phone because I didn't call her back. Like how am I supposed to call you back now? And it wasn't even recharged and she even knew about this." One of the two joined in my rant out session.I gasped. "That's- What is even that??""I know right-" The other guy smacked his head, whispering him."Are you crazy? We're here to rob not fill in our painful tragedies." He sneered at his mate and got back to us, aiming the gun at Noah inste

"Millie, who in their right mind would go frozen yoghurt shopping?" Noah asked as he wore his coat.I pointed at myself innocently. My stomach wouldn't let me sleep peacefully and the next morning would be the face of a witch with hair all dishevelled that even the crows would run away from me.That probably didn't make any sense, did it?He sighed, patting my head before leaving the house.I grinned, "So do you know where they sell Frozen Yoghurt at this time?" He asked, turning to me.I smirked, nodding proudly. "Yes, because the only way to shut my stomach from almost transforming into a lion, I used to sneak out and visit this shop.""... I'm surprised you didn't get kidnapped." He plastered the same old unimpressed bored expression."Because I'm strong as well as heavy. They scurried away just from the sight of me.""No, they just found you useless. Nobody wants a disaster." He climbed into his car after that comment.I gasped lightly, glaring at him before rounding up the car an

After throwing the ripped dress in the garbage, I retreated back to my room. Noah seemed to have enough fun and teasings for the day and was the first to fall asleep.I laid on my bed, exhausted and switched on my flip phone. Yes, I still have this phone."Would it be alright to call Hailey right now?" It was unnecessary to concern myself with this question when my fingers were over the dialer buttons. The phone rang as I waited for her reply. I looked around to see if I have any snack to eat but my room was a mess with the clothes that Oliver and Lucas expedited with."Hello?" Her groggy voice sounded through the liner."Oh hey! Did I wake you up?" I asked."Yes."I waited for her to continue but realized it just a word reply."Oh... right. Anyways stay awake and suffer while listening to my story because this is truly shocking." I tried to wake her up with my choice of words."Can it not wait till tomorrow?" She sounded desperate for sleep but this has to happen today, right now."

Silence has been absorbed in the walls of Noah's rooms and heat desipated from the uprising tension from the atmosphere that I doubted for a second, am I in the sauna?"Oliver, why are you dressed like my mother?" I asked. "Or Lucas, but then my mom is short.""And I'll have you know that you, my daughter, is shorter than me." I zipped my mouth tight shut and bent down on my knees before the magical words sprouted out of my mouth. "I BEG FOR YOUR FORGIVENESS, MOTHER. OH MOTHER WHO IS TOLERATING SUCH AN INSOLENT DAUGHTER."She scorned at me, "Before that, explain me what's going on in here."Oh right... I forgot I'm in Noah's temporary room and also he's looking prett- I mean he's in woman clothings which I would say are not fit for him. I should try my other outfit on h-"Millie was... bullying me." Noah butted, acting timid.Wow... that whole demeanor shifted from a wild beast who ripped my dress to I'm just a rabbit who's being hunted.Anyways, as if my mom would believe him. Look

"HOW DARE YOU SLAP MY YOGHURT AWAY-" I punched the man, going full thrust in one heart beat. His face was pretty rough and I knew my hand would bare the consequences of breaking someone's face by first breaking my knuckles but-We're talking about my Precious Yoghurt here!"Millie, oh shit-" Noah gasped while he was busy hitting the other guy and left me to take care of this one.Well you're probably confused what had happened. ........3 hours ago:I was looking around for Noah, since he hadn't come down at all. I was getting worried. The next moment I opened the door to my room after searching for him in his room, he was right there. In front of me.In my clothes. How did he even fit in them- wait that's not important to know."What the heck!? And here I thought you fainted or something. Were you going on an adventure to get the first-aid box??" I scolded him, immersed in giving him a good beating."Boo!" I screamed in surprise, falling on my butt as I noticed two figures emergin

It was certainly a surprise for me when I realized the guy I had almost killed with my super-duper strong healthy elbow- mind the exaggeration- turned out to be none other than the son of Mrs. Burro. Why do I keep meeting people who are closely related? Don't tell me that next time it would be that Mrs. Burro is a close mate of my mother.... Wait, I certainly don't want that disaster to occur. The storm has to lay low or else I'll be swept away with it if mother ever finds out about our marriage. And where the heck is Noah? Did he go on a scavenger hunt for the first-aid box?? I believe he's hiding instead because honestly, I didn't wanna face Mrs. Burro either. She asks too many questions."Jacob, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in the school?"Jacob scoffed, showing attitude to his mother. "oh! congratulations on realizing that.""Hey... that's rude to speak like that to your mother." I frowned, disciplining him.Jacob looked in my direction, eyes connected to e

Millie Quinn, cause of her imprisonment, killed a man just by her elbow. Was it the merciless blow or- "Millie, don't just stand there!" I heed Noah's scolding and helped the man up. Gladly I haven't knocked him out as he stood comfortably on his feet though there were signs of nauseous stumbling while I tried to balance him. "Are you alright? I'm sorry for what my wife had done." I added, "Accidentally. It wasn't intended." I glared at Noah who emulated my expressions. If it weren't for the injured man, our glaring contest wouldn't have ended on short notice. He spoke, "Oh, it's alright." I gasped, staring wide-eyed at him. Not gonna lie, he's cute and handsome. Noah nudged my side, signaling me to do something. The reason for us staring wide-eyed at him. Oh! He wasn't any celebrity or anything it's just... I think I broke his nose. "Um... are you sure you're alright?" I asked, stepping an inch closer with a heavy unsettling feeling. The guilt of knocking a charming face's
