CHAPTER 81

Daniel greeted George's assistant with a nod and a smile from which she avoided furrowing her brow at how strange it felt especially the last gesture.

"Come this way, please." She opened the boardroom, which was kept behind large, luxurious, varnished wooden doors, and introduced the newcomers to her boss.

"Miller, my boy!" greeted the gentleman accompanying Daniel, dressed in a lead-gray suit, an almost black tie, and wearing rimmed glasses.

George shook the man's hand pleasantly, showing, strangely, a smile, a gesture that seemed to be sincere to the eyes of those who did not know him.

His secretary avoided smiling, the smile was atypical for him. She understood that her boss had something on his mind that day: he rarely smiled openly in the middle of such important cases.

"Daniel..." the host greeted, shaking his hand albeit quickly and with a little smile. "Please take a seat. Would you like something to drink?"

"For me, water," Glint's lawyer said.

"Same," said the other one.
