Escape
My boots thumping on the ground, I raced as quickly as I could. I knew I had to leave the group, but I had no idea where I was heading. Leave Cassian and his rejection behind. Stay away from Alpha Blackwood's perverse schemes.
The trees seemed to blend as I ran. My knee was skinned on the uneven ground when I slipped and fell. But with my pulse thumping in my chest, I clambered to my feet and continued to run. After running for an unknown amount of time, I finally saw a light in the distance. With my legs hurting and my breath coming in sharp gasps, I staggered over to it. I saw a little cottage tucked away in a clearing as I came out of the woods. Warm light spilt from the windows, and smoke floated languidly from the chimney. My pulse thumping with fatigue, I staggered over to the cabin. When I got to the door, I banged on it in the hopes that someone would respond. A familiar face emerged as the door cracked open. The renegade wolf that had been observing me from the shadows was Luca. He whispered, "Aria," his eyes narrowing in worry. "What's wrong?" I staggered forward and fell into his embrace. "Cassian," I said, breathing in sharp bursts. "I was turned down by him. in front of the whole group. With a flash of rage in his eyes, Luca drew me in and held me tightly. A whisper, "You're safe now," he said. "I've got you." I had a wave of security as I stood there, encircled by Luca's arms. I knew it was just temporary, however. Alpha Blackwood and Cassian would do whatever it took to achieve their goals. And what they wanted was me. I fell into a plush sofa as soon as Luca ushered me inside the cabin. I happily took the glass of water he gave me, experiencing the relief of my dry throat. Something odd caught my attention as I sat there, gasping for air. Strange symbols and artefacts were carved into the ceiling and walls of the cabin. "Luca, what is this place?" My curiosity drove me to enquire. Luca grinned, amusement glimmering in his eyes. "Ariana, this is a secure home. A location where you can conceal yourself from the pack's secrets. Curious, I arched an eyebrow. "And what secrets do you know, Luca?" Luca drew forward, his grin widening. "Ariana, I am aware that you are not your typical werewolf. I am aware that you have the secret to releasing an age-old force that has the potential to permanently alter the trajectory of our planet." As Luca's words lingered in the air, I experienced a chill. What was he trying to say? What was the ancient force he was referring to? We both jumped as a loud boom reverberated outside before I could ask any enquiries. "What was that?" With my pulse pounding with terror, I enquired. Luca's body tensed as he straightened up, his gaze narrowing. "I don't know, but I think we're about to find out." A person loomed at the doorway as the cabin door sprang open while he was speaking. "Aria," the apparition snarled, its very furious eyes staring at me. A wave of panic swept through me, and I sprang to my feet, prepared to protect myself. However, I saw something that made my heart skip a beat as I gazed into the figure's eyes. It was Ronan, the opposing pack's Alpha. And he had a strong, determined expression on his face as if he would do everything to keep me safe. However, from what? And why? Ronan snarled, "Aria, you're coming with me," his eyes bursting with ferocious passion. My heart thumping in my chest, I refused to back down. I spit, attempting to sound braver than I was. "I'm not going anywhere with you," I said. With a strong purpose in his gaze, Ronan took a step towards me. He growled, "You don't have a choice," "Ariana, you're in danger. And the only one who can keep you safe is me." Despite my lack of interest, I arched an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?" I insisted. Ronan glanced across at Luca, who stood quietly behind me. Ronan snarled, "You're not safe with him," "He's not what he seems." A wave of bewilderment washed over me. What was Ronan discussing? When I had nowhere else to go, Luca had taken me in and shown me kindness. However, Ronan grabbed my arm and drew me close before I could ask him any questions. Then he hissed, "Come on," "We don't have much time." When I attempted to get free, Ronan's hold was like a vice. With my pulse racing, I staggered after him. I saw a pack of wolves, their eyes shining in the moonlight, waiting for us as we came out of the cabin. "Who are they?" Trying to distance myself from Ronan, I urged. Growling, "They're my pack," Ronan said. "And they're here to protect you." A wave of bewilderment washed over me. Why was Ronan treating me so nicely? And by "protect" me, what did he mean? However, Ronan drew me in front of him before I could ask him any questions, his eyes blazing with a ferocious intensity. He snarled, "Aria, I know you don't trust me," But the only one who can protect you is me. And I'll go to any lengths to keep you safe." Ronan's words lingered in the air and sent a chill down my spine. What did "whatever it takes" mean to him? And what was the source of his possessiveness? We all jumped as a loud snarl reverberated across the jungle before I could ask any enquiries. "What was that?" With my pulse pounding with terror, I demanded. With a focused gaze, Ronan drew me in closer. He snarled, "It's Alpha Blackwood," "And he's not happy." Alpha Blackwood sprang out of the darkness, his eyes flashing with rage, and I felt a wave of horror wash over me. He growled, "You'll never take her from me," in a caustic tone. Ronan drew me behind him as his angry eyes flared. Growling, "You'll never have her," he said. "She's under my protection now." Alpha Blackwood threw himself at Ronan, his face contorted with anger. We all jumped as a tremendous bang reverberated across the woodland before they could collide. A huge grey wolf with sharp golden eyes was what it was. And it was headed directly for us.CaptureI made an effort to resist, but Ronan's hold was too tight. To protect me from Alpha Blackwood's onslaught, he drew me behind him. However, before we could get away, a pack of wolves with bright eyes sprang out of the darkness.Ronan squinted and bared his fangs in a snarl. The word "traitors," he growled. The wolves, Ronan's outlaws, surrounded us, their teeth clenched in anticipation.I made an effort to resist, but Ronan's hold was too tight. His gaze was fixed on mine as he drew me in.He said, "I'm sorry, Aria," in a whisper. "I didn't mean for this to happen."But the wolves struck, their jaws snapping fiercely before he could speak another word.In retaliation, Ronan twisted and turned his body to protect me from the group. However, there were too many of them, and soon Ronan was overpowered by the weight of the pack, which pinned him to the ground.I tried to fight free by screaming, but it was too late. With their teeth clenched in anticipation, the wolves surrounded
The Proposal of Ronan My head was still hammering from what had happened the night before, so I sat up. Concern was written on Ronan's face, and I could see he was unsure of how to approach me. Ronan continued, "Aria, I need to talk to you," in a sombre and hushed voice. With my pulse pounding with excitement, I nodded. "What is it, Ronan?" Ronan inhaled deeply before he spoke. "I want to assist since I know Kael has been causing you discomfort. However, I need your assistance in return. Curious, I arched an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Ronan's piercing stare was fixed on me. "Ariana, I would want to propose to you a contract marriage. I'll give you the strength and safety you need to defeat Kael and his supporters in return for your defence and assistance." As I took in what he had said, my heart skipped a beat. A marriage under contract? With Ronan? The idea chilled me to the bone. "What do you mean by 'contract marriage'?" Trying to speak steadily, I asked. Leaning forward
Aria's Choice I sat silently, taking in what Ryker had spoken. I was beginning to feel as if I was ensnared in a web of lies and treachery as Ronan's secrets continued to accumulate. But I was resolved to live and prosper in spite of the risk. "Thank you for telling me, Ryker," I answered firmly. "But I need to make a decision about Ronan's proposal." Ryker nodded and his face became serious. I know what you mean, Aria. But use caution. There are other people observing you besides Ronan. With my pulse pounding with excitement, I nodded. Even though I was aware of the danger, I was prepared to take whatever necessary precautions to keep myself safe. I said, "I've made my decision," in a forceful tone. "I'm going to accept Ronan's proposal." Ryker stepped back as his eyes widened in amazement. "Are you certain, Aria? Ronan is not a trustworthy guy. I nodded, becoming more determined. "I'm certain, Ryker. To safeguard myself and my future, I must take this action. Ryker nodded, h
The Start of Training The sound of Ronan's voice, brimming with excitement, roused me. "Ariana, we're starting your training today. You'll learn how to fight, protect yourself, and plan." My pulse was pounding with anticipation as I sat up. I was anxious to learn since I had always found strategy and battle to be fascinating. Ronan grinned, approbation glimmering in his eyes. "I anticipated your eagerness, Aria. You're naturally skilled at fighting." I had a rush of pride and got to my feet, staring into Ronan's eyes. "Ronan, I'm prepared to learn. Give me all of your knowledge. Ronan nodded, his face solemn. "Great job, Aria. But we have to start with the fundamentals first. Combat involves more than simply fighting; it also involves strategy and tactics. I nodded, excitement rushing through my head. I was committed to being the greatest fighter I could be, and I was prepared to learn. Ronan started teaching me the fundamentals of fighting, including how to anticipate my oppon
Introduction of Kai My gaze was locked on the shadowed figure, and I stood still. She was a tall, athletic lady with emerald eyes that seemed to pierce my soul. "Who is that?" My question was hardly audible above a whisper. Ronan grinned as his gaze met mine. "That's Kai, Aria. Beta and my brooding strategist."Kai took a step forward while maintaining eye contact with me. "Hello, Aria," she replied in a sultry, deep voice. "I've heard a lot about you." My interest was piqued, and I moved onward. I answered, "And I've heard nothing about you," in a forceful tone. She grinned, and Kai's gaze furrowed. "Ariana, I'm not into social events. However, I'm always waiting and observing." The realisation that Kai was more than simply a Beta sent a chill down my spine. He was a strategist. She was the one who guided Ronan through the convoluted realm of werewolf politics and assisted him in making judgements. "Ronan," I stated firmly. "I need further information regarding Kai. What part
The Charm of Luca My gaze was improbable on the shadowed figure, and I stood still. She was a tall, athletic lady with emerald eyes that seemed to pierce my soul. "Who is that?" My question was hardly audible above a whisper.Ronan grinned as his gaze met mine. "Your twin sister is that, Aria. The person who has been absent for a long time. Shock swept through me, and I stepped forward. "My twin sister?" I said it again, firmly. The lady moved forward while maintaining eye contact with me. "Hello, Aria," she replied in a sultry, deep voice. "I've been waiting for you."The realisation that this lady was my identical sister sent a chill down my spine. However, how could it have happened? I didn't remember her; I didn't remember being apart from her.Ronan nodded, his amused eyes glistening. "Aria, yes. Your sister and you were born apart. But you're back together now." A wave of emotion swept over me, and I stepped forward. "What happened to her?" With a forceful voice, I asked.
Dynamics of Packs As I stood in the centre of the meeting site, I was surrounded by the familiar faces of Ronan's pack members. But even with their kind smiles and greets, I couldn't shake the feeling of estrangement. Ronan nodded, his face fixed on me. "Aria, I want you to meet the rest of the pack." Ronan introduced me to the other members of the pack, and I followed him. There were Kai, his sister and strategist; Ryker, his brother and Beta; and a few others whose names I could not recall. I saw that the pack members seemed to be observing me with a combination of interest and mistrust as we traversed their area. I became aware that they were still attempting to determine my place in the group. We came to a halt at the boundary of the area, where a number of pack members were huddled around a big fire. Ronan gave a nod, and they opened up to allow us pass. Ronan added, "Aria, this is our pack's elder, Elara," and he introduced me to the lady seated in the middle of the gather
The Remorse of CassianCassian stood at the edge of the forest, staring at the faraway house. The fact that he had been watching Aria from a distance made him regret it.Why had he rejected her? Why had he let his arrogance and vanity damage something so beautiful? He remembered the way she'd looked at him, the sparkle of anticipation in her eyes. He remembered that when she had smiled, her lips had made a gentle arc. He also recalled how he had harmed her.A flood of humiliation washed over Cassian as his eyes fell to the floor. He had lost sight of what was important because he had been so consumed by his ego and persuaded of his superiority. He remembered how Aria had resisted him and persisted on the day he had first seen her. He thought about how she had altered his view of the world and made him face himself. And he knew that he had been wrong to turn her away. He was wrong to think that he was better than her and that he could find someone better. As his eyes shifted back to
