ZOEY

The next morning brought a sense of calm after the stormy night. As I woke up in Alexei's room, the realization hit me – I had spent the night beside him. It wasn't something I planned, but circumstances had a way of leading us down unexpected paths.

Alexei was still sound asleep, his troubles momentarily forgotten in the embrace of sleep. I quietly slipped out of the room, leaving him to rest, and headed to the kitchen to brew some much-needed coffee. The aroma filled the air, offering a comforting embrace amidst the uncertainties that lingered.

Yaz was already in the kitchen, and the look on his face told me he had questions. "Zoey, care to explain why you spent the night in Alexei's room?" he inquired with a raised eyebrow.

I sighed, realizing how it might look. "It's not what you think. Alexei had a rough night, and he fell asleep in his office. I didn't want to disturb you, so I helped him to his room."
