The end of the deceit

“Nehemey!” The Martoshi growled and the female came pushing from behind the press of giant bodies.

One of the men started speaking angrily, gesticulating to Freya’s wolf dramatically and Venna reacted by growling loudly. Her human form did no damage to them but she could probably take one of them down in her wolf form.

“The Martoshi demands an explanation. What have you done with her baby?” Nehemey asked.

“You know there was never a baby.” Adrian said but she stared at him coolly. Venna was not deceived, she could hear the dull pounding of the woman’s heart, she was not as unaffected as she looked.

Nehemey exchanged a few short punctuated words with the Martoshi and then she pointed at her.

“You. Shift.” Nehemey ordered and Venna snarled, daring the bitch to try to make her.

“Tell the Martoshi that we mean no harm and will be on our way.” Adrian said, keeping his hand on the back of her ear. His silent message was clear, he wanted to resolve this amicably and didn’t want her tea
