CHAPTER FIVE.
The sounds of the chains echoed through the passages as the werewolves' prisoners were pushed out to the backyard where the annual ceremony would take place. Each year, on the day before the full moon, a ceremony would take place where the werewolves captured were experimented on by Dr. Matt. His experiment usually last till the full moon was over.Dr. Matt sat patiently, watching as the soldiers pushed all the werewolves out. ***Mrs. Sparks and Caroline sat in Sparks' living room gossiping and giggling. Mrs. Sparks stole surreptitious glances around to convince herself that no one was around. "I have filed for divorce," She whispered. "I hope I'm doing the right thing."Caroline's smile broadened. "The best decision you will ever make in life. Have your kids read it to him?""Not yet," Mrs. Sparks answered. "It'll come in today. I feel bad for them.""Don't. They'll be fine," Caroline assured. "Jordan's a strong girl.""And Tory?" Mrs. Spark's voice had worry in it. "I don't want my kids to hate me.""They won't, in a couple of years they will understand why you made this decision, and they will applaud you for it." Caroline gave Mrs. Sparks a reassuring smile. "Now go and get dressed, you'll be late for the interview."Mrs. Sparks left the living room, looking sad. Caroline looked around, as if she was irritated by the environment. ***Megan stood in her bedroom, staring outside the window. In a few hours, it would be the full moon. And in celebration of this, she was expected to transform at least one human into a werewolf."Count down to the full moon, yeah?" Mr. Trainor questioned in a pitiful tone as he walked inside Megan's bedroom."You know what this is about!" Megan replied, her eyes focused on the sky."What is happening on this full moon?""The usual thing. Nothing new, nothing special." Megan lied. He must have thought of her as a fool."You do not need to sneak out tomorrow without your shoes to partake in the full moon," Mr. Trainor said. "You are free to partake in the full moon tomorrow, freely."Megan turned to face him excitedly. "Are you serious?""Yes." Mr. Trainor nodded."Why the change of heart?""If I refuse you'll still find your way, right?""You're not wrong." Megan smiled. "Seems you're tired.""I won't spend all my life chasing you about," Mr. Trainor snapped. "I really hope you stick to our agreement this time, I'll like to see you put up the same energy during classes.""I guess you've been listening too much to that man," Megan closed the blinds of her window. "He never has anything good to say about me.""Zain?""Yes," Megan's tone changed negatively. "Why is he masquerading to be a coach at the gym? We both know he has zero knowledge about gymnastics.""There's nothing I can do about it sadly." Mr. Trainor shrugged. "All the top executives voted him in.""Why does he hate me?""He is jealous of me.""What do you have to make anybody jealous of you?" Megan chuckled mockingly.Mr. Trainor felt a sharp pain in his heart. "I have a family, my daughter is the most awarded gymnast in the history of Ocean Academy. That is something not everyone has."Megan frowned. "How about Jordan?""I tried but every other coach wants her to stay.""Thank you," Megan said in sincerity. If there was one thing she was thankful to her father for, it was his efforts to get Jordan expelled from the Academy."Anything for you." Mr. Trainor smiled. "Enjoy the full moon, freely.""I will." Megan smiled. "Thank you."Mr. Trainor walked out of Megan's bedroom, buried in deep thoughts. ***"Hey!" Avara said as she dragged Charlotte's bags. "Stay!"Charlotte looked at Avara silently."Please!" Avara added, smiling."That's not a proper apology," Charlotte said, placing her hands on her waist. "I need a proper apology."Avara frowned. "I'm sorry. But, you also owe me an apology.""I'm sorry," Charlotte said reluctantly. "But it's all your fault."Avara threw Charlotte's bags all over the place. "How could you talk down on fourteen million like it's fourteen thousand?""Do you know the way you were sounding the day you told me to quit my job that you've made millions of money?" Charlotte raised her voice. "You sounded like you had five hundred million."Avara laughed. "You think money is easy to make?"Charlotte sat on the sofa. "Tomorrow is full moon.."Avara's face saddened. "And I am yet to find him.""How will you find him when you hardly visit home?""I heard he hardly visits home too," Avara replied in frustration. "He is very active in this part of the world. What if I go home and miss my chance of meeting him?""They say he is a billionaire here.""I have tried to link some billionaires in town." Avara sighed. "They all have excessive pride, I can't deal.""What did you expect?""I really like Zain," Avara muttered lustfully. "I would like to be more than business partners with him.""Get rid of those deceitful emotions and focus on your destiny," Charlotte advised in sincerity. "Finding the alpha should be your second priority.""Second?" Avara expressed shock. "What's my priority then?""Money!" Charlotte answered. "Making money.""All that won't matter in due time," Avara replied. "We will soon take over this world.""So?" Charlotte began. "Money will go extinct?""Things will change.""Okay." Charlotte gathered her bags. "We don't even know when that will happen.""I believe in the alpha," Avara said with confidence. "It's just sad I haven't found him yet, what if he doesn't like me when we finally meet?""Tomorrow is the full moon. Pray to the moon goddess, she will grant your heart desires." Charlotte carried her bags and moved towards the bedroom. "Who knows? You might find him on this full moon. Be hopeful and patient.""Thank you." Avara smiled. "And I'm really sorry about my behaviour.""It's fine." Charlotte's voice receded with distance as she walked to the bedroom. "I'm sorry too. I guess I will have to make another list.""A pocket-friendly one, please!" Avara screamed. "Thank you!" ***Dr. Matt walked into his office with his assistant, Chicago. He exchanged glances with Mr. Trainor, then looked away. His assistant looked away too and murmured something to Dr. Matt. Mr. Trainor sat back in the leather chair."Trainor!" Dr. Matt smiled. "Long time no see! What brings you here?" Dr. Matt sat on his special chair, and his assistant stood beside him."Tomorrow is the full moon," Mr. Trainor shrugged, his expression anxious. "Is there any special activity that is supposed to happen on this full moon?""How would I know?" Dr. Matt questioned."You have them in your care, you should know." Mr. Trainor tried to tame his voice. "Is there anything you have achieved with them, or you're just wasting the government's time and resources?""I am doing my best.""With no results for how many consecutive years?" Mr. Trainor raised his voice."You have no right to question me," Dr. Matt snapped back. "I do not answer to you anymore.""I might have resigned from the police force, but I am still a full-time member of this movement." Mr. Trainor reminded him. "I deserve to know whatever is going on.""Nothing yet," Dr. Matt said. "Hopefully we'll achieve something on this full moon.""Have you at least found a way to turn them into permanent normal humans?" Trainor tried to control the frustration in his voice."Not yet," Dr. Matt replied. "But, I am sure something big will happen tomorrow. I have noticed great changes in them. Let's see if they can still transform tomorrow. If they don't transform tomorrow then..." Dr. Matt paused."Then what?""Then just maybe," Dr. Matt looked at Mr. Trainor in the eyes, "they might never transform into their werewolf bodies again."Mr. Trainor nodded attentively."That is all for now, Trainor.""Keep me in touch." Mr. Trainor stood to his feet. "Thank you."The moment Mr. Trainor walked out of Dr. Matt's office, his assistant quickly occupied the chair Mr. Trainor sat on."He is being too nosy," Chicago said. "Shouldn't he be focusing on his family, and his daughter most especially? I heard his daughter is going to the Olympics this year.""She's a smart kid." Dr. Matt agreed. "Trainor won't give up, he is dedicated to this movement.""Does his family know he still wants to get involved in this fight?""I doubt they do." Dr. Matt pushed to his feet and felt the office. "Come, we have work to do." ***"How could you be this wicked and heartless?" Jordan screamed at the top of her voice. "Mom, I'm talking to you!" She stood across Mrs. Sparks' bedroom in tears."Bring down your voice," Mrs. Sparks said, trying to park her hair into her hair net. "He might hear you.""You should have thought about that before you filed for divorce." Jordan normalized her voice. "Do you even care about him?""I am doing this for us," Mrs. Sparks muttered, fixing her gaze on Jordan. "I am doing this for you and Tory." She looked away. "And for your father.""Don't lie." Jordan broke down in tears. "Mom, please don't do this to us.""Do you know how much my heart breaks when I wake up everyday and cannot find my 16-year-old son, and cannot even give an account of his whereabouts?""Have you also thought about how he will feel when he hears this?""I need to do this," Mrs. Sparks insisted. "My mind is made up and nothing will make me change it.""Mommy, please." Jordan fell to her knees. "Please don't go, I promise to fix our finances.""I won't leave you to shoulder responsibilities that aren't yours, this is why I need to leave.""To where?""Please get up." Mrs. Sparks said in pain.Jordan shook her head disapprovingly. "Where are you going to?""I found a job.""Where?""You don't have to know.""Is divorce a requirement?" Jordan looked up to face her mother."Yes." Mrs. Sparks brushed a tear off her face. "I will send you money frequently."Jordan looked in the direction of the bedroom. She heard a familiar noise. She knew it was her father, probably struggling to get something. She was weak in the knees. She felt miserable. There was nothing she could do to dissuade her mother from leaving. Her mind was made up. She remained on the floor and cried helplessly.Mrs. Sparks ignored her, and continued to study her face in the mirror. "Which of the Austins are you dating, Quavo or Bernard?"Jordan looked up at her in tears and shock. "Austin is the reason why you are divorcing dad, the reason why you're leaving your family?""Which amongst the two is your boyfriend?" Mrs. Sparks questioned."May God forgive you," Jordan said and stood to her feet. "God help you." She left the bedroom.Mrs. Sparks didn't seem perturbed. She continued looking in the mirror. ***"Honey!" Mrs. Trainor cried out. "Honey!" She stammered.Mr. Trainor ran out of the bathroom, and sped to the centre table in his bedroom. His wife was sitting there, applied to her MacBook. "Honey, are you okay?"Mrs. Trainor strove to speak normally, her throat clenched with fear. What the hell has she just read?Mr. Trainor drew a deep breath, realizing how terrified his wife was. "Talk to me, honey.""Tomorrow is the full moon." Mrs. Sparks straightened slowly.Mr. Trainor darted a glance at their door that was open, then rushed to shut it. "Be careful, Josie is wondering about the house. Yes, tomorrow is another full moon, are you just knowing?""No." Mrs. Trainor shook her head. "Tomorrow is a special full moon, the blue full moon, all werewolves living among humans must turn at least one human into a werewolf."Mr. Trainor studied her. As far as he could see, she wasn't joking. "I need to inform Dr. Matt, he needs to be careful.""We need to be careful!""Why?""Megan." Mrs. Trainor calmly said. "We need to do something about this.""How did you get this information?""It doesn't matter," Mrs. Trainor paced around the bedroom. "Megan is what matters now!"CHAPTER SIX."Megan!" Trainor and his wife called out loudly, as they downstairs. "Megan!" They searched all the corners of the house without finding her. "She left," Josie said as he walked into the living room chewing an apple. "You both look serious, why are you looking for her?" "We needed her to see the psychiatrist at the rehab centre," Mrs. Trainor said. "You still want her to go to rehab?" Josie's facial expression deepened in surprise and amusement. "Tell me it's a lie." "What do you know?" Mr. Trainor snapped. "I know Megan doesn't do drugs," Josie snapped. "She's clean." "Did she tell you where she was going to?" Trainor asked. "No," Jose replied. "I didn't bother asking. I guess she's at the gym training, she's always there." "Thank you." Trainor and his wife raced out to their car and drove out."There's something they are not telling me," Josie thought out loud. "And I'll find out myself. Could it be she is truly a werewolf? But, Megan is scared of dogs, so how
CHAPTER SEVEN. The room lights went off. Megan turned around terrified, a bit terrified. Picking the gym as her hideout was her worse mistake. What was she thinking? She reached for her phone and checked the time, it was midnight on the dot. It was time to transform, alongside a human. She screamed in pain as she transformed. She wailed so much that anyone within the gym premises could easily hear her.Zain turned around in the direction of the sound. It sounded like a wolf's wailing. He quickly transformed into his wolf form. Maybe this was destiny happening and the prophecy trying to come to pass. Before he could think further, Megan jumped out of the room, and met him. They stared at each other, trying to read each other's minds. ***The wolves in Matt's large garden were howling in jubilation, and it surprised Matt and his assistant. Never had they seen them rejoice this much. Suddenly they woke up from their nap and started howlin
CHAPTER EIGHT. It was 4am. Trainor kept driving around the city, with no particular direction in mind. He was on the lookout for Megan and her kind.He jolted in the middle of the road, and halted the car abruptly. He stared at the road, there she was standing in the middle of the road, looking all clean. Her hair was in place. She didn't look messed up at all. She looked pretty good and was glowing. Megan smiled, waving at Trainor. Trainor wiped his eyes to be sure he was seeing clearly. "Megan?" He spelt out. Megan walked to his car, and knocked on the door. Trainor came down from his car immediately, breathing heavily. "What have you done?" "Nothing," Megan replied. "I had fun. By the way, my car broke down in the middle of this road, I've been stuck here for thirty minutes. Good thing you're here."Trainor stood there looking at his daughter, weak and speechless. She looked so innocent and cute. He brushed off a tear from his cheek. He grew weak. He couldn't bear to bundle hi
CHAPTER NINE. After spending the afternoon on phone calls about advertising opportunities for Ocean Academy, and catching up with Dr. Matt, Trainor leaned back in his chair, exhausted. He raised his arms over his head and stretched backwards, feeling the pull on his cramped muscles. Drumming his fingers against the desk, he buried his mind in thoughts. Just then Megan barged into his office. "Listen, Dad, you can't do that," Megan said. "No, you can't." "Get out of my office." Trainor pointed towards the door. "I will not let you mistreat mom." Trainor reminded himself that he cared about his daughter and family, and certainly didn't want to hurt their feelings, but he needed some alone time. "Do you want me to make a flashy scene?" She asked him. "I didn't create myself, neither was I born with this curse, you let it happen. It is because of you that I am the way I am! I was the tool for revenge for everything you did to them. Why wouldn't you just let them be? Why were you
CHAPTER TEN."Ooh, the hell!" Megan screamed in pain. Her left foot got stuck in a trap. She struggled to get free. She winced in pain. "Zain?" She called out. "Zain help!" As agreed they came to the woods for hunting. They were still in their human forms but ravening like wolves they were. Zain was trees away from her, he was searching for a specific rabbit to use for dinner. "Those silly rogues!" Zain bent down, pulling Megan's feet. "Who are they?" Megan asked."Shhh, keep your voice low." Zain got up. "I have an idea." "Okay..and who are they?" She asked again. "They are lone wolves, they attack and destroy packs for fun." Zain explained. "The plan is, let's leave you here while I hide in the bushes, they will sense that you've fallen into their trap and boom! They will come out, then we will strike." "What if they kill me?" "Kill you with what?" Zain frowned, remembering he was dealing with a naive wolf. He looked at her, her chocolate-colored eyes locked with his. A gr
CHAPTER ELEVEN. "Zain, let's hear from you," Maleek said. "Everyone has made a suggestion except you." "Why don't we all take a thirty minutes break, then come back and decide?" His voice was laced with warmth and pride as usual. The problem was that no one ever took him seriously. How could they when he had no money? Bello was grateful for the suggestion of a break. He knew Zain would always come through for him. "Yes, a break is what we all need." "No amount of break will change the fact that your student whom you've been presenting as the best is involved in a very offensive sex scandal, that is capable of putting a serious dent on Ocean Academy's image." "It's enough, we'll go for the thirty minutes break," Simon said. ***"Are you involved in Jordan's sex scandal?" Megan questioned her friends as she pulled them aside. Tanya grinned. "I know nothing about that." "And you?" She looked at Aria. "Me neither," Aria said. "But I
CHAPTER TWELVE. "Wait here!" Megan instructed her friends."Why?" Avara asked her. "Why should they wait here?" She turned, looking at the long lonely door they had just passed. "What part of the gym is this?" Charlotte asked. "The basement," Megan replied, "and they can't follow us, our coach doesn't like crowds." Aria whispered to Megan, "What are you up to? This is not even close to Coach Zain's office." "Let's go." Megan smiled, then walked to the basement with Avara and Charlotte. When they were in the basement, Megan used her leg to shut the door. "Hey! Why did you do that?" Charlotte asked. "Open the door, it's dark here!" Avara said in an offensive tone. "What is your problem, girl?" Megan laughed mischievously. "My problem?" She turned on the light of her phone, and moved closer to Avara and Charlotte. As she drew closer to them, they moved backwards in fear. There was something scary about her. "Hey!" Avara muttered. "Stop it, weirdo." "You're getting us freaked
CHAPTER THIRTEEN.Jordan sat on the hospital bed beside her father. Her father had been unconscious for some days. She had asked for her mother to be transferred to another hospital, and she was.Jordan refused to visit her mother even when Caroline begged her to. According to Caroline, her mother had regained consciousness and wanted to see her with Tory. Jordan's heart throbbed with pain when she remembered Tory. Where could Tory be? She dipped her hand in her pocket, brought out her cell phone, then tried Tory's line again. It was going through but he wasn't picking. "Where did you go, why did you leave? I want to know... Please pick up." She dropped a voice mail for him. "I'm sorry." Jordan swore she would never forgive her mother, for all the pain she had caused in the past, and the damage she was still causing. "Jordan?" A nurse entered the private ward."Yes?" She answered, fighting back tears. She wasn't even thinking about the Olympics now, what mattered most was her da
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE."I'm curious about where we are headed!" Tory said, pulling back the man that looked like their leader. "Where do you think we're going? Relax, it's a new place, the politician paid huge for this, and you will get your cut after we've completed the job," The man responded. "This place is creepy!" Tory said with a snort. "I'm not going if you don't give me the full details.""Okay, we are digging a grave tonight." "What!" Tory looked around. "Oh no, please don't involve me in digging anybody's brave. I can't do that, man." "You want money or not?" The man glared at him."No, I don't," Tory insisted. "Then turn back and leave, and make sure you seal your lips or else you know where your neck will end up." The man growled. "Now get out! I might not call you for the next job." "Man, you can't just discharge me without giving me a good tip, I took a cab here.""No tips." The man said firmly, entering a van with two other guys. They took a lonely path and sped o
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO. "In this paper bag." Trainor dropped a sealed paper bag on Inspector Desmond"s table. "You will see a gun that belongs to Dr. Matt, legally licenced. I found the DNA of the last werewolf he murdered on it." "How can you tell it's a werewolf's DNA?" Desmond questioned. "The new team of doctors I am working with confirmed it, their DNA is different from human's." "So you are saying Matt has been discreetly killing all the werewolves in his care, for years now?" Desmond asked. "Yes. I go out there and face all sorts of dangers, just to capture these monsters alive, take them to the laboratory to see if Matt can transform them permanently to humans, but he turns around to kill them?" Trainor huffed impatiently. "He is not getting away with this." "Where is Matt?" "I locked him and his team up, in different cell rooms." "Have you interrogated his team?" "Yes." Trainor nodded. "Majority has confessed to the crime." "What does he use in killing these guys?" "H

"You might hurt yourself!"Zain stood still, relaxed and unbothered. "I warned you, Megan, I knew he'd double-cross us," Zain said, feeling betrayed. Megan heard the caution in his voice and sought her own cautious words. "I needed to try.""You can't save everyone, don't let your duty fool you," he muttered. "There is nothing too special about you." Trainor returned to his car and cried like a baby. The night became even colder. Megan leaned against Zain, breathing heavily. Somehow, she managed not to cry. Her head was against Zain's broad chest, breathing in the heady scent of him. It was pure insanity, she thought, but it felt wonderful to be in his arms. "
CHAPTER TWENTY."Zain!" Avara tapped Zain's shoulders. Zain turned quickly and glared at her. She walked behind him as he stepped aside to where he parked his car."What are you doing here?" He asked, leaning against the car. He grinned lazily and gazed at her."I've been looking for you," Avara said. He was staring at her. He'd been rude to her, probably because he was thinking she thought of him as uncaring, proud and rude. He figured if he explained things to her nicely she would understand. He looked over at Charlotte standing a bit far from them. He studied the self-conscious smile she gave him."There's screening ongoing right now and I am needed over there." He pointed at the assembly, looking at Coach Maleek with pleading eyes. He figured Maleek wasn't pleased with the interruption, starting from Megan to this. "I'm sorry, but I don't think you can be my mate, I am certain there's a mistake somewhere about this." "But the Moon Goddess is never wrong," Avara uttered. "Sa
CHAPTER NINETEEN. Trainor parked his car outside the laboratory, took a deep breath, before he opened the door of the car."Wait here for me," He said to Megan."Okay," Megan nodded. "Just make sure you sprinkle that water on him." "It'll make him very powerful that no one can withstand him, then he'll escape?" Trainor said the words as if he was rehearsing them. "Yes. Don't forget to buzz me after you've sprinkled the water on him, so I can mind-link him and direct him to the woods," she instructed. "The woods still ?" Trainor asked."You thought you sealed the portal forever?" Megan scoffed. "You humans don't know what's coming your way. Anyway hurry, go save your son."Trainor suddenly developed cold feet, was he doing the right thing? He looked at the small bottle in his hand, closed his palm, shut his door, then walked inside the building. Megan sighed when she heard her phone ring and saw the caller was her mother. The phone rang repeatedly before she finally answered. "M
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN.Without warning, Megan took off at a sprint, giggling as she went. Zain followed from behind, chasing her through the trees on the Island. He could catch her easily, but what fun would that be? He dodged a few trees, and ducking around the opposite direction, he met her head-on, then tackled her to the ground. Her cheeks were flushed pink, and her smile wide and carefree. For a brief time she wasn't fighting at home with her parents, arguing at the gym or running from the rogues. She had a feeling the Island will bring her the happiness she had yearned for all her life. They both lay on their backs, staring at the sky. The silence that followed didn't feel awkward, it was rather appreciated by both. From the look on their faces, they were both enjoying the serenity the Island brought. "I am the CEO of Ocean Academy," Zain broke the silence. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." He shot her an apologetic glance. Megan smiled. "The fact that you apologized makes u
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN.Jordan was anxious to hear what Coach Maleek had to say after he had a long private discussion with Megan, and had probably made several calls to the CEO or other executives of Ocean. She was grateful to Megan for standing up for her. Coach Maleek walked up to her and extended a hand. "Congratulations, you're back on the team to attend the Olympics," Coach Maleek said. Before he walked to the stage to address his students, Jordan quickly grasped his hand for a quick handshake. "Thank you, Coach!" She said aloud as he walked to the stage.Coach Maleek addressed his students, informing them of the newest development. The girls cheered and brightened up, except Megan and her friends. From behind her back, Aria rolled her eyes and shot Jordan a warning glance.Coach Maleek ignoring their noise, swung his bag over his shoulder, and strode out of the classroom with Zain. Jordan rushed to meet Megan immediately she saw that she was alone. She had every reason to be gra
CHAPTER SIXTEEN.Mateo led the rogues back to their hideout in the woods. They destroyed quite a number of properties and killed a few humans, the ones that were unfortunate. The police tried their best, but not one of the rogues was hurt. They managed the situation well, trying to reassure the individuals all was fine, and that there was no cause for alarm. This time people were not falling for lies. Everyone knew they were wolves on loose, attacking the city.Megan didn't return him that night. The next morning she stood in her father's living room, being interrogated. She had never seen her father so furious, so dark. There was something in his eyes, something that was akin to hatred. Her mother, on the other hand, was calm and collected. "Where were you last night?" Her mother questioned. "Out destroying the city?" "They killed five people last night! Five!" Trainor jumped to his feet in frustration. "You are evil and wicked. You don't deserve to be alive." "I didn't do anyt
CHAPTER FIFTEEN. It was a bloody night. Zain Adolphus had spent nights in the woods, waging war against the rogues. He invaded their town and ripped apart each one of them he came across. The rogues could not stand the war he waged single handedly. There was blood in his eyes. He howled angrily at the universe. Looking around him, he discovered all the rogues in that town were dead. The surviving ones fled town. "Moon goddess!!" Zain yelled, slapping his cheeks hard that his hands burned. "She cannot be my mate, I reject her. She is too weak, I cannot and will never marry her. You have to do something about this." He looked at the skies and continued lamenting. "I deserve a brave and strong warrior as a mate. Someone I can rule the world with, someone passionate about conquering the world, not a mate passionate about having a human salon where she'll be licking their ass." He turned to the other side and yelled. "You have to change my mate! My Luna must be brave and strong."
