CHAPTER TWO

Later that night......

Bellona lay in bed sobbing, she refused to calm down. Her parents couldn't comfort her, they could only look on helplessly as she cried. The same dream had repeated but this time, it looked so real that she burst into tears.

She ran to her parents room for comfort but when she heard them talking, she couldn't help but eavesdrop.

"This is really terrible. They went too far this time. How could they kill a full family for a ritual." Bellona's father grumbled.

"I still can't believe it. I saw that little boy this afternoon and now he is gone." Bellona's mother said with teary eyes.

"The other witches are getting too bold. I fear the werewolves will retaliate soon. I don't think this place is safe anymore for us to raise Bellona." Her father replied.

Bellona gasped. 

Her noise made her parents notice her presence and her mom beckoned on her.

"Mom are we going to die?" Bellona asked in fear. She didn't want anything to happen to her family.

"No, sweetie. Nothing's going to happen to us" Her mother consoled her.

"Promise?" 

"Promise"

There was a knock on the door, Mr Hary stood up to go answer the door. Some minutes later, he came back with a grim look 

"What is it?" Bellona's mother asked.

"The witches have seized power, they now control Blood moon pack. This was the main reason why they attacked the Alpha's family earlier." he informed her.

"What does this mean for us?"

"We are expected to stay and help in ruling the pack. Nimue's orders."

"Oh! What do we do now? We can't do this. We have to escape." she said in panic.

"We can't, we will be hunted down. The only thing we can do is take Bellona out of this pack."

"But where will she stay?"

"She will stay with my sister. I will call her and set it up. She will come pick up Bellona and take her away." he left to make arrangements.

Bellona's mother remained looking after her. She had dozed off from crying but even in her sleep she still cried.

"I am so sorry for your pain sweetie." her mother whispered.

Everything was set up, in two days time, Bellona would be taken away by her aunt.

Bellona however kept crying, she refused to eat or drink anything. She hoped her friend was okay.

Her parents didn't know what to do so they decided to take her to her aunt's place by themselves.

When the sun came down that day, they started their journey. They decided to go at night because they didn't want anyone to see them. 

On the way going, Bellona's father, Mr Hart noticed that a tree had fallen and it was blocking the road and making them unable to continue their journey. He alighted the vehicle so he could transform to his wolf form and remove the fallen tree.

When he reached, he transformed and when he was about removing the tree, he suddenly disappeared.

On seeing this, Bellona's mom became alarmed. 

"Stay here, honey" she told her daughter "let me help daddy remove the tree"

Bellona shook her head in fear. She didn't want to be left alone. "I'll go with you" she said

"No, honey, I'll be back before you know it" Her mother succeeded in convincing her.

"Bellona dear, don't leave the car no matter what, okay?" Her mother warned.

"Okay, mother" 

Mrs Hart left Bellona alone to search for her husband. On reaching the spot where the tree fell, what she saw left her horrified. And before she could come to terms with things, she was attacked.

A bone chilling scream filled Bellona's ears. She was terrified. She was about to go see what happened but she remembered her mother's words so she sat still in the car, scared.

After a while, she summoned courage and got down from the vehicle. She walked slowly to where she last saw her parents.

She saw her parents lying lifeless in the pool of their own blood.

Bellona was speechless, she cried till her eyes hurt and eventually fell asleep next to her parents cold body.

Bellona woke up to a tap on her shoulder. It was morning, she saw an old lady in front of her.

"Come with me, dear" The old lady said.

"W - who are you" Bellona stammered in fear.

"I'll help you get back at the people who killed your parents." The woman said "come with me let's lay your parents to rest."

Bellona took her hands they left to bury her parents. Bellona who was still tired from the day's event, fell asleep.

The old lady stood in front of the sleeping Bellona, muttered some incantations and sprayed incense on her.

"You're now my puppet, Bellona. You'll do whatever I say."

When Bellona woke up, the old lady prepared water for her bath and then gave her food.

"What's your name, ma'am" Bellona spoke, her voice quivered with fear.

"I'm Nimue" The old lady said

"What's your name, little girl" 

"My name is Bellona."

"Who killed your parents?" Nimue asked.

"The Alpha of the blood moon pack." Bellona said without hesitation.

"Do you know his name?" 

"Alpha Nathan, his wife, and his son Zephyr" Bellona said with a serious tone, bitterness laced in her tone.

"Good" Nimue muttered and smiled knowingly to herself. Her plan was coming together.

"You said you'll help me with revenge" Bellona asked.

"Yes, but that'll be when you come of age. For now, you need to serious training."

Bellona nodded. No matter how long it'll take, she would surely exert revenge.

Bellona lived with Nimue and the rogues. She trained night and day. She grew to become one of the best assassin's. Nimue sent her on series of mission and she never failed to be victorious.

When Nimue saw that the time was right, she called Bellona.

"It is time" She said. "You've come of age and you can now proceed with your revenge."

Bellona was elated but she didn't show it. She had learnt to hide her feelings and that could be a huge weakness.

"How do I go about it"

"First, you need a mirror that'll show you your parents killers."

"But I already know them"Bellona said. She knew who killed her parents. She could never forget.

"Yes. But we need to be sure. I can't help you without that mirror."

"What do I ought to do?"

"The mirror is in the blood moon pack. It is in possession of the ruling alpha, alpha Zephyr." Nimue said. "I need you to break in and steal the mirror."

"Consider it done." Bellona deadpanned and immediately left.

Nimue let out a wicked laugh.This was just the beginning. Everything was going according to her plan. She must rule!
