CHAPTER NINE

                                                 

Bellona on her part was contemplating whether or not to go home. She had sat here for close to three hours and still left unattended to. Although when she came here, she discovered that she was the last person but she was determined to wait because she came with a motive but now she was already starting to regret it. Maybe he had found the secretary he was looking for. 

' What a waste of time and resources' she muttered angrily to herself.

She finally decided to go home and think of another way to exert her revenge.

Bellona rose from her seat and walked to the door but the voice of a man calling on her made her stop on her track.

"Miss!" The young man repeated and Bellona looked around to confirm if she was the one the young man was speaking to. Seeing that there was no one except the two of them, she smiled politely and replied, "how may I help you?"

"Aren't you here for the interview?" The man asked. 

Bellona studied him carefully for a while. He had black hair and a pair of glasses rested on his nose bridge. Seeing his smart appearance, he must be working here, if lucky, then he'll be close to the boss so she had to try to be on his good side.

"Yes, I am" She smiled widely.

"Alright, it's your turn now. Follow me" He said and walked towards the direction he came in and Bellona quickly followed behind.

None of them spoke as they continued walking. Bellona, wanting to appear friendly and nice, spoke up, "I'm Bellona and you are?"

"Lucian," He replied curtly as though he didn't want to be speaking with her.

'Like I want to talk to you' , Bellona thought to herself and rolled her eyes. She decided not to talk to him further or else she would lose her temper because of the way he was acting.

The not so long walk came to an end as they arrived at the door of Zephyr's office.

"Brace yourself" Lucian muttered and Bellona secretly rolled her eyes yet again. This guy was just too over dramatic.

He knocked on the door and entered with Bellona right behind him. 

As soon as Bellona stepped into the office, her eyes immediately went to the person she hated the most, the reason she came here. Even though she hated to admit it, he was a sight to behold. Buy she didn't care about his unearthly beauty, her greatest desire was to strangle him to death. She stood at the entrance, her eyes never leaving him as she thought of all the horrible things she would do to him once she had him under her captivity.

"Have a sit" Lucian said to Bellona when he noticed that she was still standing and staring at Zephyr. It was nothing new so he wasn't surprised, men and women always stared in awe whenever they saw Zephyr because of his beauty. Lucian then proceeded to stand by Zephyr who was yet to acknowledge their presence because he was working on his computer.

"Ah, yes" Bellona faked a smile and sat before the two men.

"Introduce yourself" Lucian took the lead.

"I'm Bellona Hart" she said with a wide smile that looked so sincere but deep down she wanted to rush at the man who was sitting in front of her.

Hearing her voice, Zephyr finally looked up. Her voice sounded like the sweetest melody he had ever heard. He just wanted her to sing into his ears all day long.

Apart from her voice, she was also enchantingly beautiful. Her beauty was mesmerizing and he couldn't help but stare. He also found her familiar. He felt they had met before but he couldn't tell where.

He looked at her eyes and when he saw that she was staring at him with murderous intent instead of the mesmerized gaze he was used to people staring at him with, he quickly came back to his senses and averted his gaze with hopes that Lucian didn't notice the little exchange but unfortunately for him, Lucian did and was left speechless.

"Why do you want to work with us?" Zephyr began the interview himself, surprising Lucian. Of all the candidates they had met, Zephyr didn't say a word till now.

' To kill you' , Bellona thought in her mind.

"Well, except the fact that I'm desperately in need of a job, I'd love to work in the prestigious company because of its wonderful work and it'll be a great privilege to be an employee of this amazing institution" She smiled. Bellona learnt that flattery would take you everywhere and she planned to use it to her advantage.

Zephyr turned to Lucian who nodded affirmatively in response.

"What are your qualifications?" Lucian asked.

'It's in the CV, dummy' she spoke in her heart.

"I have a BSC in office and information management and an MSC in secretarial studies" Bellona lied smoothly.

"Impressive," Lucian commented. Among the others they had interviewed, no one had majored in secretarial studies so she had an advantage.

"Do you think you're fit for the position you're applying for?" Zephyr asked, watching her intently.

'Obviously' she rolled her eyes which Zephyr saw but chose to ignore. Instead he placed his hands on the table and rested his hands on his head, focusing on her.

"Yes, I'm fit for this position" She tried to convince him.

"Why?" He asked further.

'Fuck' what kind of interview was this? She was getting uncomfortable now. The way he was looking at her irked her.

"Because..." She smiled and tried to buy herself sometime while she thought of what to say.

"Mhmm" Zephyr hummed as though she wanted to tell a very interesting story.

"Because I'm smart and skilled. I can also adjust to different environments, I can show up whenever you need me and most importantly, whatever I set my mind to do, I must accomplish it" Her last sentence held a deep meaning.

"Whenever I need you?" He repeated the only part he took interest in her words.

"Yes" She blurted excitedly and Zephyr smirked.

'Cute' he thought.

Seeing his expression, Bellona started to regret her decision. She hoped he wasn't a pervert given the way he was smiling like a freak.

"Lucian will assist you in signing the required documents" Zephyr simply said and scribbled some words on a paper and handed it over to Lucian, "make a contract with this"

There was no need prolonging the interview. She was perfect for the position and he had to give that to her. What's the worst that could happen? At least she didn't try to seduce him, that was a plus. She was just an ordinary human girl, how bad could she be?

"I'm hired? Oh my God" She tried her best to sound excited, although she was. She was happy that her plan was finally coming together.

"Shall we?" Lucian said, leading the way out of the office and she followed suit.

When they were out of the office, Zephyr shook his head and muttered to himself, "what is it about her?"

She was the first girl that made him look twice. Could she be my mate? No! If so, Fenrir his wolf would have let him know by recognizing her sweet scent but her scent was just like any other average human. So what was so special about her?

"Here" Lucian handed over the documents to her, "go through it and sign it"

Bellona received the papers and went ahead to sign without bothering to study it.

"You won't read it?" Lucian inquired.

"There's no need" Bellona said. Lucian looked at her weirdly so,to avoid suspicion, she added with a lively tone, " I'm just too excited. You know working in my dream company is everything I ever wanted so there's no need of going through the documents"

Truthfully, she didn't need to go through it. She wouldn't be spending much time here anyway. Once the time is right, she'll strike and that'll be all so there was no need stressing her eyes by reading whatsoever he wrote in that contract. The pay didn't even bother her, she was rich enough.

"When can I start work" She attempted to change the topic and it worked.

"On Monday." Lucian responded. 

Bellona needed some information about Zephyr so she tried to bother Lucian a little to see if he'd divulge any useful knowledge.

"Mr Lucian" She called out.

"What is it?" He snorted.

'She hated this guy already. Maybe after she kills Zephyr, she may as well kill him too' Bellona thought. Not like she loved talking to him or anything but she just had to put up with his irritating attitude.

"As a new employee, is there anything I need to know about the ceo? You know, so that I can make a good secretary" She tried her best to appear sweet.

'She must be human' Lucian conceded,  seeing that she addressed Alpha Zephyr as CEO instead of Alpha, he decided to go along with her. After all, only a handful of humans knew about their real identity.

"The CEO loves punctuality and neatness. You have to be ready at all times" He advised.

Bellona sighed bitterly in her heart. That was not what she wanted to hear but she had to make due with it for now.

"And..." Lucian who was about to leave, stopped on his tracks and turned to Bellona, "the boss detest lies and deceit. He always makes sure to give such people a painful punishment''.
