My eyes were comprehensively set on Erin who laid like a dead human on the hospital bed. She had a ventilator connected to her nostrils, while the cardiogram was reading her heartbeat. As well, she was on drip, and had been taking it for a couple of hours. Though these things were helping her to survive, to me, it felt like nothing was changing. She had undergone the surgical operation, yet she hadn't woken up.

Was she going to survive?

Mom was feeling good already, and would probably get discharged in a few hours, same as my driver. But here was Erin, being so close to death.

I wiped off the tears on my cheek, sniffled. I didn't know what to do. To worsen all this, Seth hadn't returned yet. He had promised to be with me all through this, but for some reason, he vanished, and hadn't even bothered to call or text me. How upsetting was that?

I took a deep breath, and stood up. Turning

Jerome••••••••••As soon as Louella stepped out of the room, I sighed hard. Finally, it was only Erin and me that was left in here. My eyes scanned the equipment that was attached to her body, a sudden fear running through me.What if she was truly not going to make it? What if she would really die? What would become of me?I walked towards her, and sat on the tiny space beside her. I held her hand, felt the tears running in my eyes. To be honest, I hated myself so much right now. Truly, this was all my fault. If I had expressed my true feelings, if I had accepted my feelings, if I hadn't hurt her last night, she would probably be fine by now."Since I've gotten a confirmation that you despise me, I'm ready to leave forever. I promise to go and never return. And, I hope that someday, you'll kno

I was so, so anxious. While the doctors had been trying to restore Erin's health, due to the loud wail from Louella, they had had no choice but to ask us to leave the room. And, that made me even more scared. Had she died, but they hadn't wanted us to know about it?I tightened my fist, closed my eyes.No.Not her.She didn't deserve to die.The door of the ICU opened, and the doctors and nurses started ambling out of the room. Immediately, not giving them a chance to take a breath, Louella hurried over to them, attacking them with questions. The doctor sighed. "Please, please, do calm down," the middle-aged man prompted. "The good news is, we've been able to restore her heart beat back to its normal form. Well, she is still in a coma state, but I can assure you that she'll recover in a few days or a few hours."

Seth•••••••Everyone thought I was so strong. They didn't know that all I was trying to do was to make sure that everyone was okay. I was hiding my emotions. I was trying to be strong. After dropping Louella off at my place, I had decided to come to the club so I'd get myself drunk. I knew I shouldn't leave her alone at my place, knowing fully well that she would be worried, but seriously, I needed to get drunk. I needed to snap out of the real world. I was way too upset. In the last few days, I had been riding in a roller coaster of emotions. I wasn't ready to live with the reality that dad was dead. Although I knew he wasn't coming back, although I knew I should move on, I still kept being emotional. I wasn't even able to cry any longer. My tears seemed to have dried up.Parking my car in the parking lot of thi

Louella•••••••••I took a glance at my wrist watch, then sighed hard. I really didn't know what to do anymore. He wasn't taking my calls, replying to my texts. It had been almost a day since he had gone, which was a bit bothersome. At first, I had thought he had probably gone over to Tanya's place, to maybe comfort her in this hard time. But no, that wasn't it. I had called her, and she had said that she hadn't seen him since yesterday.I brushed my fingers into my hair, kept my elbow on the table, exhaled hard. I wished he could know how worried I was. If he didn't call, text, or come back home by tonight, I would have no choice but to report this to the police. I only hoped that he hadn't harmed himself. He really seemed so hurt yesterday."Ms. Warren." I raised my neck to see who had called me.

"Seth!" I slapped Seth's arm, laughing like a crazy person. He laughed too, and sighed. "You're so unserious. We've got a lot of work to do, remember? And, um, since my dad's still taking thirty percent, I think I have to work harder.""It'll be fine.""When's the next meeting?" I asked him.He glimpsed at me, turned to the file in his hand, cleared his throat. "Tomorrow, I think," he replied."So, I'd have to come around tomorrow too?""Guess so.""What time?""In the morning."He dropped the files on the stool beside him, and looked at me. "What're your plans for today? If possible, I wanna go on a date with you." He winked."Nah. I've got to work. Besides, I'll be meeting my new secretary today. I rolled uncomfortably on my bed. The bed was huge, spacious enough to accommodate seven people, yet, I felt so, so choked, even though I was the only one on the bed. A sharp pain played in my upper abdomen, and I felt the need to vomit. My back hurt like a rock had been thrown against it, my head hurt so much, my stomach hurt, as well as my throat. Also, a rare pain raced in my chest. I knew something wasn't right. In the last one week, I had been feeling this pain. I hadn't been able to work due to it. Good for me, Rita was pretty hard working, so she was able to handle everything at the office. Mom wasn't around, Erin still hadn't gotten her memory back. The only person who could help me was Seth, but he wasn't even in town.It felt like something jolted into my throat, and sent a wrong impulse to travel all through my body. What could I do now? Who could help me out?Hard

I quivered. I didn't know what to do. What would become of me? As far as I knew, everyone always said that cancer had no cure. Was I really going to die? What was happening? When were these predicaments going to end?"Oh my, oh my, oh my Lord. Oh Lord, help me!" I burst out crying, running my hands into my hair like a lunatic. "Oh my gosh! Oh my!" I also wailed at the top of my voice.Seth shifted close to me, cupped my face in his hands, trying to keep me calm. "Please, calm down. Wh-What does the result say?""I-I…" I sobbed so much. I couldn't speak or think properly. I just didn't want to believe what I had read."Calm down, please." I saw terror in his eyes. He was definitely scared. "What does it say? Just tell me."I sniffled. "I-I don't know what to do. I-I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die. I'm gonna leave you!""Hey, don't say that. You're not

Seth wasn't saying anything to me. He was only staring dumbly like his brain had gotten numb. Wait, this couldn't be true, could it? Seth and I had made a vow. We had promised to stay with each other till eternity. And yes, I trusted him completely. He wouldn't do something this horrible.I turned to Sonya, glared hard. "Hey, what do you want? Aren't you willing to give up on him? Can't you see how happy we are together? Just forget about him. Get rid of your fantasy!""I'm not lying. I'm really carrying his child," she said the same thing again.I sniggered. This woman was making me furious. "Please, stop this. Don't make me hurt you. Have you gone mad?!""I said I'm not lying!" She retorted. She glared as well, some tears in her eyes. "You think you—""Shut up!" I couldn't contain my wrath, so I hit her across her face. I hit her hard.

The entire hall was silent. There was no doubt that everyone present in the great crowd in front of me, was in awe, feeling the intensity of the words I was speaking. I smiled a little, pacing around the stage. I stood behind the podium, and cleared my throat. "Now, this goes to the younger women in here." My hands settled on the podium, my shoulders raised proudly. "You see, people still tend to underestimate the power you have. But, I have good news for you. You're capable. What a man can do, you can also do. It's only about the mindset. Anyone can become successful. Don’t let anyone intimidate you." "Yeah," someone from the crowd agreed. I just smiled. They concentrated so much, as if their lives depended on my words. I continued, "Many ladies have lost

Seth laughed at me as I groaned and acted like a child. That was pretty annoying, but well, how could an adult be so scared to take an injection? I hated that thing so, so much. The doctor finally got rid of the syringe, and took care of the injected part of my skin. As soon as he was done with that, he arranged his box, and stood up. I kept squeezing my face like a crying child. He cleared his throat, and started, "Mrs. Lee, you're good to go for your trip. After all the tests we've done, I can confidently tell you that your body system is back to normal. The effects of the poison are completely diminished."I finally smiled. "That's good news. Thanks."Seth held my hand as he sat beside me. "Thanks, do

I sobbed. The pain I was feeling obviously wasn't as crazy as hers, but it felt like mine was worse. She gaped, groans leaving her mouth. Her lips quivered, quite obvious that she wanted to say something. Blood kept gushing out from the left side of her chest, as well as her mouth. Tears left her eyes, the gun dropping from her hand. Her body shook, seeming as if she'd lose her stability soon.I was shocked. Being shocked was an understatement. She was battling to live; battling to save herself.Alarmed, I cried, "Celina!" The moment I attempted to grip her arm, her body impelled backwards. Her legs tripped over each other, and like a weak mango tree, she fell off the cliff.Seeing that, my heart s

The beam of the rising sun shone against my eyes, making me blink slowly. I yawned, the sore pain in my head becoming quite worse. Trying to sit up, I noticed how uncomfortable I was, my hands and legs feeling stuck to something. It took a while for me to open my eyes, and to even notice all that was going on around me. The moment I realized where I was and what was happening, I gasped. I tried sitting straight on this old, dusty floor, and also tried moving away from the ray of the sun which was attacking my eyes. I looked down at my legs which were tied, struggling to help myself out of this bandage. This was already a new day, yet I was still not seen by the police. Were Becca and Celina stronger than them or what? But, I could not remain here, right? If they weren't going to come and get me, it seemed like I would have

I knew I was supposed to run over to him, and cuddled him crazily. Instead, all I was doing was to stare at him. I was really happy. To be honest, in the past few days, I had missed him a lot. There was really no point in denying that."Seth." Gently, I walked over to him, giving him a small smile. He was also smiling, but wasn't saying anything. He cupped my jaw when I reached him. "Sweetie, where have you been?" And pecked my cheek."Gosh, I've missed you." A tear left my eye. What was making me emotional? In such a terrifying situation? He leaned close, hugged me, pecked my forehead. "Oh yes, I've missed you too.""This is really hard for us." I returned his hug, weeping on his chest. Louella••••••••••I packed the last set of files into my backpack, ready to head out. Spotting a red file on my table, I narrowed my eyes at it, and grabbed it. The moment I skimmed through it, I couldn't help but gape. How in the world had I almost forgotten such an important file? This was the most needed file of all the files I had taken from here.I kept the file in my backpack, slung the backpack over my shoulder. I took a glance at my wrist watch, feeling a bit disturbed and puzzled. I had to leave here soon, before anyone would see me. If Seth had to come now, there was no doubt that he wouldn't want me to leave.First, I had to ensure that I was set to leave here. Once I got back to the beach house, since my phone was already turned on, I would book a flight online, and leave the country for a few months. In the meantime, I would ensure that I

Celina••••••••Becca's complaint was getting too annoying. Why was it so hard for her to understand that we only needed to be as patient as possible? It wasn't as if I wasn't trying my best. Here she was, complaining about her father's betrayal, while I was here, thinking of how to get Seth attracted to me.Days had passed, yet Seth wasn't willing to be close to me. I had gone to his office, and had apologized to me. Yes, he had said he forgave me, but how was I supposed to believe that if he hadn't even called or texted me? It just seemed like my effort to get him was nothing but a waste."Where the heck is Rita?!" Becca barked, smashed her phone against the floor, breathing hard like an insane dog.I rolled my eyes. Seth••••••I wasn't feeling so well. Before Louella had come into my life, all I had been doing was to work. But, now that she had gone, it was really hard to work without her. This was so upsetting.Indeed, you only missed your lover when you let her go. To worsen all this, no one knew where she was. I had called her, had texted her, hard searched for her, but it was all to no avail. Maybe I had to file a missing report at the police station. This was too frustrating for me.Dayla walked into my office, a couple of files tugged to her chest. When she dropped the files on my table, she stood in front of the table like a mango tree, looking down.I wiggled a brow at her. "Hey, you need something? Why stand there?""Oh, sorry. I was a bit lost." She laughed weirdly. "Um, someone's here to see you. She says her name is Rita."

Louella••••••••••Staring up at the hazy sky of the evening, seated on the small stool on the porch of this old beach house, I sighed hard. I felt a heavy pain in my chest, feeling the need to cough hard. I knew I was supposed to begin my treatments, but how would I do that when I wasn't willing to go back home?It had been days since I saw anyone. After I had left Seth, I had decided to come to this beach house. This was a place Dad, mom and I used to have a vacation, just before Jan and Becca had come into our lives. Though the place gave me bad memories, I really still liked coming here. It was always filled with serenity.I stared down at my shaky fingers, felt really bad for myself. I didn't know the decision to make. Was I really going to let myself die?In a few days, I would run out of food. I had had some money in my
