Louella
••••••••••
It had been a while since I had seen mom. She hardly came over here, since she had decided to settle in Canada, claiming that the place was peaceful for an oldie like her. Well, that wasn't a big deal. After all, she was happy. That was the point.
"I can't believe you and Seth ended up falling in love. It feels so weird, you know?" She took a bite of her onion and pepper sandwich, ate it like a calm person. "I'm glad about it. I was really worried you'll never fall in love."
"Well, all thanks to Seth for making me fall for him." I giggled.
"This is such a miracle." She winked at me.
I rolled my eyes, and just kept staring at her.
"So, how's work?" She asked. Oh, I hadn't told her about dad and his family.
I shook my head slowly. "Work
For some reason, work felt so stressful today. I didn't know why, but I found myself being quite lazy. All that needed to be done was to sign a couple of documents, and assist Erin to prepare a bunch of contracts. To aggravate my frustration, Seth had been ignoring my calls and texts. I was so worried, cause I needed to know if he was fine, and wasn't thinking about Harold.I dashed my fingers into my hair, groaned. "Oh, goodness. What now?""Ms. Warren, it's a little more that's left. That's all," Rachel announced."What the heck is this?!" Angered, I tossed the paper she had given me earlier, glared up at her. In only one day, she had made about three mistakes. To be honest, I needed a new secretary. "Are you crazy?! Why do you keep on bringing these gibberish documents, and in fact, committing so many errors?! Pay attention to your work, woman!"She lowered her head. "I'm sorry. And pl
She was the last person I would expect this from. Rachel was more like the real sister I never had. What had I done to deserve this betrayal? Was it a crime for me to love someone?I didn't know how to react to this. I just kept staring at them, allowing the tears to leave my eyes. I was weeping hard, whimpering in a low tone. What would I do next? This time around, I was assured that Seth was bad. He was cheating on me. I knew it. My doubts weren't false after all.Wait, Rachel was pregnant. Was her baby… Seth's child? After I had discovered that she was pregnant, she and I hadn't been on good terms. We weren't so close anymore. Could this be the reason for that?Frustrated, running crazy, extremely furious, I scanned my eyes through the room, in search of something to hit against their heads. In a short while, I found a glass bottle on the bedside table. I grabbed it, and squeezed it in my hand. Of course,
It had been about two weeks since the so-called "love of my life" had betrayed me. Life had been so hard in that short while. I had been trying as much as possible to not think about the sin he and Rachel had committed, but it felt so hard to.The day after that had happened, he had called my phone a couple of times, and had even attempted to come into my office, but no, I had been ensuring that he wouldn't be able to speak to me, or see me. He didn't deserve me.Rachel, on the other hand, had not been coming to work. She had disappeared all of sudden, and hadn't attempted to call me or something. Well, speaking of her being my secretary, that was in the past. I was already in the process of getting a new secretary. Also, as a sister to her, I had already disowned her."Sup?" Erin joined me on my table. She dropped some files in front of me, and began working on her laptop."N
Seth•••••••"Two more to go!" Jerome announced.Letting out a loud groan, I pulled my chest forward, did the last two push-ups. What a relief. I was finally done working out for the evening. It had felt like it wouldn't ever end."Thank God," I said amidst hard breath."Good job." Jerome and I hit our fists against each other, and he gave me a bottle of water."Thanks," I appreciated. I gulped down the whole content in the bottle, then we made our way out of my home gym. When we got to the kitchen, he took his backpack from the counter, began arranging his gym clothes into the bag. I took my phone from the counter too, went through my messages. Seeing a text from Dad's doctor, I felt something heavy dropping against my chest.I tugge
I kept my hands in the pocket of my pants, stared blankly at her. I really didn't know what to say. I knew I was angry and upset, yet, I was unable to vent the right emotion on her. Was I supposed to keep quiet, or ask her to leave? For the first time since I had known her, she looked so nervous to speak to me. Those brown eyes held a bit of fear, and she seemed as gentle as a dove. All of these were nothing but pretence. Everyone knew that Louella was crazy."Can we please… talk?" She probably noticed I wasn't ready to speak, so she broke the silence lingering around us.Again, I scoffed. "About what? Don't get what's going on."She sighed. "I know you're angry. But, we've gotta talk, huh?"I suddenly felt irritated. I wasn't an idiot. No one had ever dared to treat me this way, so how could she? When I had needed her around, she had disappeared. Now, she had
As I cleaned the dishes I had used to cook breakfast for Seth and me, I couldn't stop smiling. I felt so joyful and shy. For the first time in my entire life, I had gotten laid last night. And, what made me even more happy, was the fact that it hadn't been lust. It had been purely love.Immediately I had woken up, I had had my bath, and had come downstairs to cook something for Seth and me. Erin had sent a text, saying I had to come to work as soon as possible. Though I still felt like spending some time with Seth, I knew I shouldn't joke with my work."How's my baby?"I flinched on hearing that voice. Well, I guessed I had to get used to getting startled by him. But why did he like doing that?He wrapped his arms around me from behind, pecked my neck. "Did you sleep well?""Yes, I did." I giggled as his breath hitched my ear. "And, what about you?"
I threw scowls at Leo as he sat beside Rachel, on the three seaters couch in my office. He looked down, obviously scared to look me in the eye. How in the world had Rachel chosen a boyfriend like him? Yeah, he was cute, but so? What was the point in being cute, yet dumb?"If you don't speak now, you'll be fired. Tell me, why did you break her heart?" I demanded, tapping my feet against the hard marble floor of my office. He heaved, and stared at me. "Well, you see, my dad's a racist. He only wants me to be with a white woman.""What the heck? Do idiots like that still exist?" I threw my arms up in surprise."I tried convincing him that Rachel's mixed, expecting him to consider the fact that she's got a white parent, but no, he didn't care," he continued.I huffed. "Then why did you get her pregnant, knowing fully well that your so-called dad won't accept her?"
I really didn't want to believe this. Not for once would I have expected the culprit to be Neo. Wait, he was only my bouncer. We shared no personal relationship, so what did he have against me? Despite all I had done for him? Why were people always this ungrateful to me?"Ms. Warren, do you know him?" The officer cut me off my thoughts.Petrified, I nodded hesitantly. "Yes. He works for me. A-And I don't get what he wants. I haven't ever done anything bad to him.""Oh, great. If you know where he is right now, we'll get him arrested immediately. This is a case of attempted murder. He'll have to go to jail," he avowed.I took my intercom, called Rachel, trying to be as stable as possible. Soon, she came in. I also pressed the emergency button which was installed on my table, which made twenty to thirty of my men rush into my office.I turned around to face them a
The entire hall was silent. There was no doubt that everyone present in the great crowd in front of me, was in awe, feeling the intensity of the words I was speaking. I smiled a little, pacing around the stage. I stood behind the podium, and cleared my throat. "Now, this goes to the younger women in here." My hands settled on the podium, my shoulders raised proudly. "You see, people still tend to underestimate the power you have. But, I have good news for you. You're capable. What a man can do, you can also do. It's only about the mindset. Anyone can become successful. Don’t let anyone intimidate you." "Yeah," someone from the crowd agreed. I just smiled. They concentrated so much, as if their lives depended on my words. I continued, "Many ladies have lost
Seth laughed at me as I groaned and acted like a child. That was pretty annoying, but well, how could an adult be so scared to take an injection? I hated that thing so, so much. The doctor finally got rid of the syringe, and took care of the injected part of my skin. As soon as he was done with that, he arranged his box, and stood up. I kept squeezing my face like a crying child. He cleared his throat, and started, "Mrs. Lee, you're good to go for your trip. After all the tests we've done, I can confidently tell you that your body system is back to normal. The effects of the poison are completely diminished."I finally smiled. "That's good news. Thanks."Seth held my hand as he sat beside me. "Thanks, do
I sobbed. The pain I was feeling obviously wasn't as crazy as hers, but it felt like mine was worse. She gaped, groans leaving her mouth. Her lips quivered, quite obvious that she wanted to say something. Blood kept gushing out from the left side of her chest, as well as her mouth. Tears left her eyes, the gun dropping from her hand. Her body shook, seeming as if she'd lose her stability soon.I was shocked. Being shocked was an understatement. She was battling to live; battling to save herself.Alarmed, I cried, "Celina!" The moment I attempted to grip her arm, her body impelled backwards. Her legs tripped over each other, and like a weak mango tree, she fell off the cliff.Seeing that, my heart s
The beam of the rising sun shone against my eyes, making me blink slowly. I yawned, the sore pain in my head becoming quite worse. Trying to sit up, I noticed how uncomfortable I was, my hands and legs feeling stuck to something. It took a while for me to open my eyes, and to even notice all that was going on around me. The moment I realized where I was and what was happening, I gasped. I tried sitting straight on this old, dusty floor, and also tried moving away from the ray of the sun which was attacking my eyes. I looked down at my legs which were tied, struggling to help myself out of this bandage. This was already a new day, yet I was still not seen by the police. Were Becca and Celina stronger than them or what? But, I could not remain here, right? If they weren't going to come and get me, it seemed like I would have
I knew I was supposed to run over to him, and cuddled him crazily. Instead, all I was doing was to stare at him. I was really happy. To be honest, in the past few days, I had missed him a lot. There was really no point in denying that."Seth." Gently, I walked over to him, giving him a small smile. He was also smiling, but wasn't saying anything. He cupped my jaw when I reached him. "Sweetie, where have you been?" And pecked my cheek."Gosh, I've missed you." A tear left my eye. What was making me emotional? In such a terrifying situation? He leaned close, hugged me, pecked my forehead. "Oh yes, I've missed you too.""This is really hard for us." I returned his hug, weeping on his chest. "Becca and Celina are doing all this. They really want to have me killed. They're taking it too far.""I know it all. And, most of all, I'm glad you have no
Louella••••••••••I packed the last set of files into my backpack, ready to head out. Spotting a red file on my table, I narrowed my eyes at it, and grabbed it. The moment I skimmed through it, I couldn't help but gape. How in the world had I almost forgotten such an important file? This was the most needed file of all the files I had taken from here.I kept the file in my backpack, slung the backpack over my shoulder. I took a glance at my wrist watch, feeling a bit disturbed and puzzled. I had to leave here soon, before anyone would see me. If Seth had to come now, there was no doubt that he wouldn't want me to leave.First, I had to ensure that I was set to leave here. Once I got back to the beach house, since my phone was already turned on, I would book a flight online, and leave the country for a few months. In the meantime, I would ensure that I
Celina••••••••Becca's complaint was getting too annoying. Why was it so hard for her to understand that we only needed to be as patient as possible? It wasn't as if I wasn't trying my best. Here she was, complaining about her father's betrayal, while I was here, thinking of how to get Seth attracted to me.Days had passed, yet Seth wasn't willing to be close to me. I had gone to his office, and had apologized to me. Yes, he had said he forgave me, but how was I supposed to believe that if he hadn't even called or texted me? It just seemed like my effort to get him was nothing but a waste."Where the heck is Rita?!" Becca barked, smashed her phone against the floor, breathing hard like an insane dog.I rolled my eyes. "Girl, chill. She'll be back soon. I only asked her to grab some files from Louella's office. If we find Louella before
Seth••••••I wasn't feeling so well. Before Louella had come into my life, all I had been doing was to work. But, now that she had gone, it was really hard to work without her. This was so upsetting.Indeed, you only missed your lover when you let her go. To worsen all this, no one knew where she was. I had called her, had texted her, hard searched for her, but it was all to no avail. Maybe I had to file a missing report at the police station. This was too frustrating for me.Dayla walked into my office, a couple of files tugged to her chest. When she dropped the files on my table, she stood in front of the table like a mango tree, looking down.I wiggled a brow at her. "Hey, you need something? Why stand there?""Oh, sorry. I was a bit lost." She laughed weirdly. "Um, someone's here to see you. She says her name is Rita."
Louella••••••••••Staring up at the hazy sky of the evening, seated on the small stool on the porch of this old beach house, I sighed hard. I felt a heavy pain in my chest, feeling the need to cough hard. I knew I was supposed to begin my treatments, but how would I do that when I wasn't willing to go back home?It had been days since I saw anyone. After I had left Seth, I had decided to come to this beach house. This was a place Dad, mom and I used to have a vacation, just before Jan and Becca had come into our lives. Though the place gave me bad memories, I really still liked coming here. It was always filled with serenity.I stared down at my shaky fingers, felt really bad for myself. I didn't know the decision to make. Was I really going to let myself die?In a few days, I would run out of food. I had had some money in my
