Chapter 274

Emily ran out of the gates as fast as her legs could carry her. She was glad that the gates were widely opened, since Barbara was on her way out. She walked aside the road, running at intervals and stopping to wipe the sweats that clouded her face. She had no idea of where she was heading to, but she kept on going as far as her leg could carry her.

Some minutes later, Barbara drove past her and made some facial gestures to her. Emily sighed deeply, but didn’t stop walking.

Just then, a cab drove by and she flagged it down immediately. She hopped into the cab and wiped her face with the back of her hands.

“Take me somewhere cool…a place I can stay in without disturbance”, she murmured, silently trusting the cab driver to make a good choice.

He nodded his head in understanding and drove off, stealing glances at Emily who had resumed her silent cries.

“Would the beach be a nice place for you? I can’t think of any better place”, the cab driver finally said when he realized that it was bet
