For a moment, it felt as though the world was on standstill. The only thing Richard was concerned about was the beautiful lady who was taking slow ambles towards him.A small smile of relief washed through his face as he held his chest and broke into loud laughter.“A part of me was certain that you would come. At several points, doubts made to overshadow that thought”, Richard said to Emily the moment she reached where he stood. For unknown reasons, Emily smiled and, somewhat, blushed.Richard’s heart was gladdened, and his excitement was at the peak. For a moment, he couldn’t utter a word to her and when he finally did, all he did was stutter.“You don’t have to say anything. We can remain silent for the moment”, Emily suggested, after which she trudged forward and sat down at the chair close by.Richard sauntered behind her, admiring her every detail and wishing that he could grab her from behind.“How is the baby?” He asked calmly, with various emotions running through his eyes.I
Richard inhaled deeply as he took in the sweet vanilla scent that came off Emily’s lips. He wanted to remain there forever because that was utmost peace. His wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled her closer to her chest, nibbling around her ears and watching her giggling in delight.Just by the entrance, Barbara stood with her hands crossed to her chest, with a smirk on her chin and fists clenched. She had been right all along; the two had something going on between them, but Richard always lied to cover that. She picked out her phone and took a quick picture of both of them, after which she stormed out of the building to give them enough time to themselves. Her heart was boiling in rage, and mere thoughts of Emily made her scream out of her lungs. She had been living fine with Richard until Emily came into the picture. Now, Richard was wandering away like someone under a spell.Richard suddenly pulled back the moment a familiar scent crossed his nostrils. He would rather not c
Barbara was swift with her movement and after threatening the security people at the gate, she drove away from the premises and headed some blocks away. After a while, she caught sight of Emily, who seemed to be rushing out of the tower while wiping off the tears that welled up in her eyes. For a moment, Barbara wondered what could have possibly went wrong between the lovebirds, but after a while, she remembered her reason for staying; she was going to trail Emily.Emily walked over to the car, which Brian provided her with. She picked up her phone which laid on the seat and with a deep sigh, she glanced at it.She had forgotten to take her phone with her to the tower, and it wasn’t surprising to see countless calls and messages. All messages came from Brian, but then, it looked as though it were in a transient format. He sounded cool at first, where he dropped different messages relating to how difficult it was staying alone with a baby. And then, he suddenly asked where she was and
Emily gasped in horror when she found the door leading into the apartment slightly ajar, with no sign of Brian or her child in view. She gulped down hesitantly as she took slow strides into the house, with her heart beating out of her chest and hands shaking fervently.“Brian”, Emily shouted on top of her voice, blinking off the tears that welled up in her eyes. Different thoughts swirled around her head as she was finally becoming convinced that Brian may have abducted her child.“Brian!” She shouted again, finally making her way into the Baby’s nursery. Her heart dropped in horror when she caught a glimpse of the empty baby crib. The room was quiet and serene, with only slight noises coming from the ambience.“Oh my God!” Emily gasped as her feet finally gave her away. She dropped to the floor with a loud thud, with the tears finally flowing out of her eyes and dropping down her cheeks.Again, she had been played…Her heart shattered to tiny bits and for minutes, she doubted that s
Emily gazed at her miserable reflection in the mirror, with noticeable eye bags and a saddened expression. For the hundredth time, she made to send a call across to Richard, but stopped half way.Everything that had happened was the greatest nightmare she ever encountered, and sharing it with Richard might just worsen it.It was already twenty-four hours since she discovered that Brian had left with her newborn child. All she did was gape at her miserable self, unable to eat or do anything useful.Emily had always lived a quiet life, and thinking of reporting Brian to the police only made her feel worse. She hated noise, and that was all it was going to bring.Brian, on the other hand, was not having a great time since he left with the child. His intentions were to hurt Emily, but his heart was not helping out.He had hired a nanny to take care of the child all through the night, but the cries of the baby indicated that he needed his mother. Finally, he grabbed the child and headed ov
She made to talk, but the words remained stuck in her throat. She couldn’t believe her ears, neither did she ever imagine that Brian would one day send her away.“Brian! You don’t have to send me out of here. I’m yet to get a house, and you know that”, Emily whispered as tears welled up in her eyes.Brian gulped down hard and darted his eyes away from her. That was the only decision he could make presently, at least, for his sanity.“You need to leave. I can’t think of having you around when you don’t value me. That is the best decision for the both of us”, Brian tried to explain, still avoiding meeting with her eyes.Emily quivered silently, but quickly braced up and wore a smile on her face. This was her reality and there wasn’t any need to delay it.“Fine! I would take my leave now. Thank you for taking me in when I had no one else at my side”, she said with a sincere smile, sniffing hard and wiping tears off her eyes.“But the next time you touch my child, I won’t forgive you!” Em
“I want just the baby”, Barbara replied Emily who glared at her as though she just saw a ghost. “What baby?” Emily stuttered as her eyes shifted towards the child who laid on the bed, some foot away from where they stood.Barbara smirked and ignored her, clearly thinking of the next step to take in her utterance.“Here! I got you a drink”, Barbara suddenly smiled excitedly as she lifted a bottle of whiskey towards Emily.“You don’t expect me to drink that!” Emily whispered, wondering why Barbara suddenly switched up her mood in a split second.“We are not enemies, are we? I came to say hi to the baby as good friends that we are!” Barbara noted and pushed Emily aside.Emily’s week was quite frail, and it didn’t come as a surprise when Barbara swiftly shoved her aside.A deep sigh escaped Emily’s lips as she turned to look at Barbara, who was now peering at the baby and giggling in excitement. Her heart was still out of her chest, and Barbara’s presence made the hairs on her skin stand.
Barbara watched Emily closely until she fell down in deep slumber. A wide smirk made way across her face as she shifted her face towards the baby who was now crying softly as though he was aware of the present predicament of his mother.“We would make this swift. You just have to sign these papers and that would be all”, Barbara said calmly as she grabbed some papers out of her bag. She had gotten the document from her lawyer some days ago. It was prepared specially to hand the child over to Barbara and Richard, with the excuse of not being able to take care of him.Barbara had it all sorted out and in Emily’s name. That way, everyone would believe that Emily had intentionally given her child to Barbara.“Emily, would you do me a favour of signing these papers?” Barbara whispered quietly as she glanced over at Emily who was mumbling some inaudible words in her sleep. The drug effect was quite minimal. After a moment of sleeping, Emily’s eyes opened slightly, but everything looked dif
