Chapter 4 Watch Your Back!

Betty's POV 

The Lycan King's office got tense with the presence of Lady Alicia, who just entered and the lady was throwing a glare at me but the Lycan King was not even fazed about what was going on.

"What are you doing here, Alicia? I don't think I sent for you," I heard the Lycan King ask behind me and I shiver at the heat that comes along with his deep baritone voice.

"Sorry, my king I just thought you might need company tonight," the lady called Alicia said bowing her head and I suddenly felt like there was more to the two interactions.

Something was going on between the two and it might be something I would not like when I got to know it but still I was curious to know.

"But who is she?" The lady asked and I sucked in my breath wondering how the King was going to introduce his little mate. 

"Her? She is a girl gambling to keep her alive..but I am not sure she can survive," I heard him say as he walked back to his seat.

My fingers curled with hurt hearing how he described me but I was smart enough not to let my emotions show. I could not let them know that I could get hurt by those things and not when I promised that I was going to grow stronger which I have been failing miserably at.

"Ohh…then you must be in for an exciting ride because my King here is a pro in games," the lady says with a smile which I knew immediately was fake. She has a smile that resembles the bullies in highschool.. It's a fake smile.

"Really? But I do not intend to play games with him, I just want to keep my life," I say, turning away from the lady as I face my mate.

 "Should I still undress!" I asked and I could sense the lady's disturbed breathing when I asked that question and that confirmed my guess.

Something was going on between the two.

"No, you don't have to do that anymore... You can go back to your room," he says and I nod my head bowing to him as I am on my way outside but my steps halted when I heard the lady's voice.

"My King, what are you doing? I heard that they brought back a girl today but what is she doing in your office!" She asked and I heard the disgruntled sigh of my mate.

"When did you have the right to question my judgment!" I heard him ask as he slammed his fist on the table and I knew that I had heard enough.

I decided to leave the room for them so that they can discuss more on whatever they are planning to say but Ryan's world halted my steps.

"Why are you leaving? Did I ask you to leave?" I heard him ask and I shook my head, staying rooted to where I was standing.

Didn't he just ask me to leave?

"You are not going to ask her to leave?" Alicia asked and I watched Ryan nod his head showing that it was not happening.

"Ok, since it's like that I am here to ask you when you are going to announce me as your Luna," she says and my ears perked hearing her words and I got surprised by that.

Announcing her as Luna? Do they have that kind of relationship? I pondered.

"Why are you impatient? I never say that I am going to go back on my words," I heard the Lycan King say and a lump rose up in my throat but I was careful enough to stay calm.

'It's nothing, Betty, I am sure that you can get through this..you just have to hold on and wait for this moment to pass' I mulled in my head and I sighed.

It was going to be hard, though.

"No, I am sorry that I am impatient, it's just that some people's presence is really..unsettling," she trailed off looking at me but Ryan gave her his words and asked her not to worry about him and after that she walked out of the room. 

"Why are you looking lost? Don't tell me you are angry?" I heard Ryan's amused voice and my finger curled up in fear hearing his words.

Anger? Am I supposed even to feel that at the moment when my life doesn't even belong to me again.

"I am not angry, I don't even think that I have the right to be angry," I say and the man chuckles weirdly.

"That's right, I like the fact that you are finally getting the grasp of things," he says, walking to me and patting my head like I am some kind of puppy.

After asking me to come to his room the other night he later sent me out of his office and I sighed as I was finally able to get out of his clutches.

I walked out of the office only to be faced with the angry Alicia and I decided to walk away but she grabbed me by my hand and I looked at her.

"I never knew you could be this affluent…just a weak ugly human!" I heard her say and I wondered what warranted the talk.

"What are you doing?" I asked and she scoffed, grabbing me by the neck but I broke free from her trying my best to avoid being bullied by her.

"Did you think you are all that because he calls you in?" I heard Alicia's asked me and I turned around to look at her wondering what she was saying.

"What did you mean? I never wanted to be called in," I say trying to let her know that I never wanted any of it but she just snorted, not listening to me.

"Did you think I would believe that? Watch your back… it might not be peaceful as you think it's going to be..don't say I didn't warn you," she says walking away from me and my eyes widened in shock at her words.

Did I just get myself an enemy? I pondered and

I looked back at the office door, isn't the best option is running away?
