CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

DARIUS

I looked into Hazel's green eyes, and her hand on my hair slipped off.

“Is it going to be a long trip? Tiring?” She asked, and I gave a sigh. Getting to my feet, she stepped back, and I walked to a sofa, patting the space next to me.

She sat right where I asked her to sit. “For some reason, you seem a little, uh, sad?” She said, and I leaned back on the sofa, crossing my legs as I watched her.

Through her peripheral view, she glanced at me, before clearing her throat. A smile crept up my lips as I saw her ear growing red. Then while she struggled to look everywhere else but my face, I gently placed my index finger in her ear. She jumped as if charged by electricity, and looked at me with wide eyes, and parted lips.

It made me laugh, and the tension in the air melted like ice.

Her lower lip joined her upper lip in a pout, and she tried not to smile, as she watched me.

“You made me think something was wrong. Now, I don't think so.”
