CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

MELISSA

I watched as the guards poured out onto the streets, terrifying people as they went in their numbers.

They were definitely going to line the borders in preparation for a war. My fingers trembled causing the wine in my cup to tilt. Then, I ran a hand through my hair, sighing. I had to do something fast enough. Whatever Darius' punishment was, it was definitely something strong enough for Alpha Liam to think of attacking.

I shuddered, thinking of Jake's words. Two days— I had only two days, else two Kingdoms would attack. It wouldn't be pretty.

Walking out of my room, I thrusted my glass into the hands of a maid. The mansion was alive with guards moving up and down, talking in urgent tones, and they bowed when they saw me.

“Where's Darius?” I asked one of them.

“We weren't informed of his whereabouts, ma'am. I believe you should ask the beta or the gamma.” He replied respectfully, and I stormed off the Darius' room. At least he ought to tell me what his
