Jena's POV
I opened my eyes and all around me was total darkness. I couldn't see a damn thing, not the faintest glint of light. However, I could feel something on my body — a fabric covering my face. My hands were tied behind my back and all I could hear was murmurs echoing all around me. Suddenly, the fabric was yanked off my face and light flooded my eyes. When my eyes adjusted to the light, I shuddered. I was on an indoor stage and all the audience wore golden masks. Golden masks! A cold shiver made my legs tremble as something deadly crossed my mind. There were rumors about secret clubs where young girls were kidnapped and forced into indecent jobs. “The auction begins!” A female voice rang beside me, making my shoulders jerk. I looked to my right and my eyes met a middle-aged lady, dressed in a shiny purple gown. She wore tall heels and held a mic in her right. I glanced around for what she was auctioning. There was no special edition vehicle anywhere, no future tech gadget or ancient valuable of any sort. “The bid starts at $3 million dollars!” The lady yelled out. My chest grew tight, billions of thoughts pushing their way through my mind. After a brief silence, a voice from the audience responded to her. “$3 million dollars for the blonde girl!” My heart slammed against my chest as it then dawned on me that the auction item was none other than me. “$3 million and a half!” A third voice rang and my heart leapt wild with shock. “$4 million and a hundred thousand!” My eyes tore wide, shock and fear pumping in my mind. A conversation between two bodyguards beside me made it worse. One of them chuckled. “Her price is rising quite fast unlike many others.” “I'm still surprised at the amount of money these bastards are willing to spend on a wretch like her,” the other one said. “I mean, what are they gonna do with her aside from adding her to the many sex slaves they already have?” The bid kept going higher and higher, and the auctioneer kept growing with excitement, until it suddenly got to $10 million. I couldn't shake the fear off my terrified self. The fact that I was being auctioned was one scary thing, but the amounts I was hearing turned it into trauma. My blood ran cold at the thought of what they were going to do with me after purchasing me for that amount. “Giving her off for 10 million dollars!” The auctioneer yelled. “10 million dollars going… going…” “10 mill—” “13 million dollars,” a female voice called from the audience. “Whoa! A whooping 13 million dollars for this blonde, blue-eyed beauty!” The auctioneer cried out. At this point, the crowd began to murmur, their golden masks glittering under the dim lights of the room as they turned around chit-chatting with their next neighbors. They must have been wondering what was so special about me. The same thing puzzled me. I was an average girl, living in the city and trying to survive. “I think the deal closes here,” the auctioneer yelled, a smile on her face. My stomach churned with disgust seeing that what she was doing excited her. All of a sudden, my wolf let out a dreadful growl and my skin tensed up. A sudden dominating aura entered the room. My legs quaked with fear and I glanced around to see if anyone else felt what I did, but none of them did. Just then, from amongst the back seat, the darkest section in the audience, a deep voice growled without needing the help of a mic to reverberate on the walls. “50 million dollars…” Dead silence engulfed the audience at the very moment those words were said. Everyone turned around to see who it was. The auctioneer stood speechless, overwhelmed by the ridiculous amount of money mentioned. Shock gripped me down to the sole of my feet. Was this really happening? Was there anything special about me that I didn't know about? This was really getting scary. “Fifty whooping million going… And it's gone!” The auctioneer sealed the deal and immediately, everyone put their hands together for the last bidder. Then, he stood up. The moment he rose to his feet, my wolf vibrated with fear. His presence was more intimidating than any I'd felt before. He began to walk up to the stage, blue eyes glittering behind his golden mask. Each step he took made my wolf tremble with fear. He walked up to me on the stage and inched closer. The closer he got, the more my legs soaked with fear. I had no idea who he was or why he had such an effect on me, but all I knew was that I was going to pass out if he didn't turn away within the next three minutes. “Your scent,” he growled, his voice deep as the rumble of thunder. He brought his nose close to my neck and sniffed. A look of satisfaction grew on his face and he stood tall. From behind his mask, I noticed what seemed to be a smirk. Maybe I was just imagining things, but it looked like that. “How unusual,” he growled. “A filthy omega like you having such a glorious scent…” My heart began to pound heavily. Who was this man? He wasn't an alpha, most definitely. He was something else. Something bigger, more ferocious, something that could make me piss in my pants by merely standing before me, if at all that wasn't happening to me already. I'd grown up in a separate clan from the clan where I was born, under the care of an old lady I called “Mother”. She'd always told me I was special, but whenever I asked how, she never gave me a straightforward reply. However, the Alpha that had taken us in, soon figured out about my specialness. He was about to do something bad to me before Mother fled me from the pack. Since then, I've been surviving in Liberal city. “Fuck,” I muttered to myself when I noticed I was actually about to piss on myself. “Bring her to my mansion by tomorrow,” said the man who had bought me. Eyes darkening, he added in a warning tone, “without a single taint.” “Yes, sir,” the two guards who stood beside me answered him. And with that, the man walked away. The guards wore the sack over my face again and took me off the auction stage to a room that had only one door. There was no window and the vents were too tiny for someone my size to pass through. Escaping from there was totally impossible. For an hour, I sat on the floor, waiting patiently for the next fate that awaited me. When the door finally opened again, four blonde ladies came in, pushing in a big wheel table with them. Behind them were the two guards from earlier. The guards seized me by my hands and legs and lifted me to the table before chaining me up. “We need to prepare you for your owner,” said one of the ladies. “And, please, don't make this difficult for us. Other merchandise don't get soft treatment like this. You're lucky Lord Lorenzo left a warning. No one dares to joke with what belongs to him.”Lorenzo's POV“Lord Lorenzo…”“Lord Lorenzo!”I blinked and my eyes took in Enzo, my right-hand man. He was right before me, and yet, yelling my name as if I was miles away.My brows furrowed. “Is there a good reason why you should yell my name like that?”“Sorry, boss. You, uh, spaced out in the middle of our conversation when you mentioned about the girl,” he said.My eyelids spread wide on hearing that.Unable to believe it, I asked him, “Are you high or what, Enzo?”“I'm sorry, boss,” he apologized with a soft giggle.“Better be,” I said to him. “So, what were you saying?”He stifled back a laughter and swallowed hard before he answered me.“I wanted to remind you about the arrangements for the Alpha King's arrival,” he said.Honestly, I'd literally spaced out when we were discussing. My mind had been restless since the auction. How could an ordinary omega be blessed with such a heavenly scent? If I hadn't been in a hurry to leave, I'd have taken her with me and made love to her i
Jena's POVI jolted up my bed, my heart pounding with fear as I escaped a terrible nightmare. Beads of sweat trickled down my cleavage as I thought back to the gigantic wolf that was chasing after me in my dream.I placed a palm on my chest, feeling my trembling heart. “Fucking nightmare,” I cussed.I needed to take my bath. I hadn't had so many scary nightmares in my lifetime. As I climbed out of the bed, I noticed it was softer than usual. I felt it with my palm, it was too comfy. Plus, a thick duvet covered my leg. I only owned two blankets, I'd never slept with a duvet. My sight extended to the whole room and it was only then that I realized that I had slept in a room that wasn't mine. The heart I tried to stop from trembling began to throb heavily again. Where the fuck was I?I closed my eyes and tried to recollect. What had happened the previous night?“Oh shit!” I cussed when it started coming back to me. I was at the big mansion of the person who had bought me at the auction.
Jena's POVMy giant wardrobe stood before me as I raked it for yet another dress to satisfy Oli’s definition of fashion. She let out a sigh when the next dress still didn’t match the one she wore.“Some fashion sense would really go a long way for you, Jena,” Oli taunted.I chuckled and gave her a cute wink.“Don't worry, babe, in no time I'll get the hang of this whole fashion thingy,” I promised.“I pray so,” she said. I dey her hands on my hips from behind. “But, goddamn, you look super sexy in everything you try on.”I chuckled softly as I raised a red satin gown and scanned it. I’d always been one to rock any random dress selection. By the way, my job never demanded that I leave the house. If she hadn't wanted me to wear something that marched her's, we’d have been on our way to the party by now.The city where we lived was called the Liberal city. It was ruled by the council of lycans. Rogue wolves like Oli and I came here to escape the harsh nature of trying to survive in the w
