The wolf glared at BaiXue with hate-filled eyes. What does she have that gave her control over such a strong individual? He refused to believe that a meek looking woman like her was strong enough to gain the support of such a person.
Suddenly, he was kicked in the face and teeth flew out.
"Watch how you look at her." LongFei warned in a threatening voice.
"It's on this side of the mountains, isn't it?" BaiXue probed.
The wolf eyes widened in realisation. He had been so occupied with running away earlier that he had not noticed he was back on the other side of the mountains.
LongFei broke the wolf's leg with a stomp. It yelped and howled in pain. "She's asking you a question." LongFei warned again, impatient with the wolf.
The wolf snarled at BaiXue with sworn vengeance in his eyes. He pinned the blame on her. All of a sudden, his head crashed down into the ground and he got pinned like that. A hand dug painfully into his neck. He could barely breathe. The two fingers before his eyes terrified him. Instead of closing his eyes like he would have wanted, his fear made his eyes grow bigger and rounder. He was not dumb enough to not know what LongFei planned to do.
LongFei easily dug out the wolf's eyeball like it was jelly. Then, he carelessly tossed the eyeball in front of the wolf. It rolled to a stop with its pupil facing the wolf. Because the optical nerve was still intact, he viewed two things at once. It turned out to not only be physically torturous, but mentally as well.
The wolf changed back to his human form to cover his now empty and bloody eye socket. Blood flowed out uncontrollably between his fingers. He cried and wailed in pain while rolling about on the floor. He was a decently built man but was reduced to a sorry state, thanks to LongFei.
LongFei placed his foot on the man's untouched leg and said menacingly, "You haven't answered her."
"I'll never say it! It's our safe haven! You'll never find it and I'll never lead you to it!"
LongFei stepped down and broke his other leg as well. "Reveal it."
The man shouted out in pain.
"What's the point of protecting a village you'll never get to return to? If you reveal it, you'd live and will be free to relocate." BaiXue tried to reason with him.
"As if I'd fall for your trick. I know I'd die either way. Besides, there is no better place to live at! Torture me to death if you want, I'll not say anything! My brother will exact revenge for me! Even if your village has not experience a raid before, it will be raided by us sooner o-"
BaiXue kicked his face and he suffered another concussion, except that it was far milder than when she attacked him in her rabbit form.
The wolf had reminded her of her brother's death, which thus renewed her drive to find the culprits.
When he regained his senses, he found blood gathered in his mouth. He was kicked while he was talking so he had bit his tongue hard. He spat the blood onto the ground along with a small piece of his tongue.
"I'll fulfill your wish for a slow and painful death then." BaiXue said in a deathly cold tone.
Terror filled the man's eyes. He shook his head as LongFei held his hand up by the wrist. When he peeled the first nail off, the man started screaming and shouting in fear. His nails came off one at a time but he was still not giving up the location of his village.
LongFei went on to the fingers. He pushed back a finger until a pop could be heard. When the fingers and thumbs were all done in, LongFei proceeded on to crush his hands with his foot. The wolf was in so much pain that he was crippled by it. Tears and snot covered his face.
"Still not fessing up?" BaiXue asked.
The wolf spat blood in her direction which earned him a fracture to his ribs. LongFei was careful not to break it in case it gave him a fast death by puncturing his lungs.
LongFei then proceeded on to do the same to the man's feet.
At this point, BaiXue suddenly intervened and broke his jaw. Tears flowed uncontrollably from the man's eyes. He had tried to commit suicide and save himself from the torture by biting off his tongue but BaiXue was sharp enough to stop it. Now there was no way he could save himself.
Whenever the wolf passed out from the pain, LongFei would blow his cold fire on his legs until it woke the man up only to experience the pain from biting cold flames. There was frostbite and burn wounds.
It got to the point where there was not a bone left that was not shattered or fractured, yet the man was still adamant about not giving up the location of the village.
LongFei looked at BaiXue expecting her to give the instruction to finish the man off.
However, BaiXue lightly coughed and used her gaze to indicate the only place on the man's body that was left untouched. "I think it'd be really painful and embarrassing for a man to have that crushed or broken."
Both men went frozen still. LongFei gulped in awkwardness while the other man tried to get away in spite of the pain he was in. He wanted to at least die with dignity. LongFei was a man himself so could not help but sympathize with the man.
LongFei's face held discomfort as he raised his leg in preparation to crush it all in one go. He grimaced while the man wailed for the last time before passing out. Only then did LongFei finish the man off by crushing his skull into bits.
When he looked at BaiXue again, he noticed a small smile on her lips. His eyes widened in realisation, "You-"
"Payback." She said with a small smirk before turning to leave the gory and bloody scene.
[You're really quite devious. You used another man's dignity just to poke fun at him.] BaoBao also could not help but shiver a bit.
BaiXue did a mental shrug.
LongFei caught up to her and pouted a tiny bit. "You played me." Looking at her pleased expression, he thought to himself. /But I won't mind if it pleases you./
He then changed into a dragon to bring her back to FengJiao's village. Once BaiXue confirmed that the attack was another failed attempt, she blew the flute.
1 month passed by with two more attacks sent to the village. The third wave was made up of different bears. The fourth wave was made up of hyenas, bears, wolves, and baboons.
BaiXue repeated what she did to the first wolf they caught. She even captured more of them each time, which was made possible thanks to LongFei. She did not believe that none of them would fess up. However, she was eventually proven wrong. Every single one of them seemed to sincerely believe that there was no better place to live at. They all held the same sentiments that they might as well die instead of give up what they have now to live.
It was their greed. In addition to the fact they were convinced that she would eventually get her retribution by having her village raided. The fact that her village could be targeted and not theirs gave them solace in their deaths.
BaiXue decided to change her approach as she blew the flute for the fourth time.
The final attack came after more than a week. FenFang was finally annoyed and ordered for the strongest bandits to be dispatched to FengJiao's village. It took time to negotiate, bribe, and control them. In the end, she had to threaten to remove her protection over the village and reveal their surroundings to others before they heeded her orders. They had gotten full of themselves and forgotten that they were still at FenFang's mercy.
There were wolves, lions, tigers, jaguars, and bears. It was the largest wave that FenFang had sent because each of them brought their followers along. Although there were the same animals that raided BaiXue's, they were not the same people.
/What luck. I still have to find their village to find those culprits./ BaiXue thought to herself.
While flying above the group undetected, BaiXue observed them and identified the one she felt was the most prideful. She dropped down a note that was wrapped around a rock the size of her palm onto a lion's head.
The lion growled in annoyance and captured the others' attention. Everyone stopped to see what was wrong.
"What, you can't keep up? Is the pace too fast for you?" A tiger mocked him. BaiXue had ranked him the second most prideful in the group.
"You're asking for it." The lion challenged him and took a step towards the tiger.
"Hey, seriously, what was up?" The leader of the bears gruffly asked the lion.
"This." The lion looked towards the thing that hit him on the head. He turned into a human to pick it up and unraveled the paper.
"What's it about?" The tiger approached him to take a peek. However, the man crushed the paper in the tiger's face just before he could steal a look.
"You-"
The man stuffed the paper into the tiger's open mouth with a smirk. "Since you want it so much." He was happy that he got back at the tiger for his mocking earlier.
The tiger spat out the paper and jumped at the man to attack. The man changed into a lion as he dodged the attack.
"Enough! FenFang did not give us a lot of time and we need all of us to be in top condition!" The bear roared as he finally had enough of their childish antics. The leader of the wolves were used to the lion's and tiger's antics so left it for the bear to handle.
"I'll let you off for now." The lion said to the tiger. Before the tiger could respond, he continued to order the section he was leading, "Let's go."
The tiger wanted to argue but everyone left him behind. He growled to himself and ended up running to catch up with them.
"He ignored your note." LongFei said with a dark look on his face. He was already entertaining thoughts about the different ways he could make the lion feel sorry for doing so. Torturing so many people recently biased his thinking towards creative torture methods.
"He tossed it on purpose. Otherwise the tiger would see it too." The note was now lying abandoned and forgotten on the ground. She told LongFei to go to the lake that was close to the village.
The sun sunk below the horizon and the full moon now hung high in the starless night sky. The lake that looks black in the night reflected the bright moon. It was eerily quiet. Not even the wind was blowing.
BaiXue peacefully sat on the branch of a tree close to the lake in her rabbit form with her eyes closed.
LongFei stared at her adoringly. He knew that she was cultivating again. /She really doesn't waste a single moment./ Every moment that he spent with her, he grew more attracted to her nature.
FengJiao outshines other women in the strength and looks departments. She was born to be loved. In comparison, BaiXue was obviously nowhere close to FengJiao's standard. Yet LongFei felt more drawn towards BaiXue. Her fighting spirit simply dazzled him and it made her shine brighter than anyone else in his eyes.
He, himself, did not notice a small smile hanging on his lips while he gazed at the quiet BaiXue. Only BaoBao was busy studying him without letting BaiXue know.
BaoBao could not figure out how LongFei never got tired of staring at BaiXue and the meaning behind LongFei's smile now.
[Argh... If only I could ask BaiXue about him without her giving me the stink-eye...] BaoBao complained. He sulked as he thought back to his recent attempts to discuss about LongFei's dedication to her. Although her expression did not change, her eyes showed her disdain, whenever BaoBao said anything related to loyalty, love, like, or even interest. BaoBao did not realise that he was wondering about human emotions far more than any typical system would.
Finally, some rustling came from a distance away from the tree that they were on. BaiXue opened her eyes, changed into her human form, and went to the source of the sound.
BaiXue waited among the unmaintained tall grass that grew right by the lake and was almost as tall as LongFei. LongFei sat on the ground further behind her, staying hidden behind more tall grass. Soon, the lion appeared through the tall grass in front of BaiXue. "Can you prove that your information is trustworthy?" He went straight to the point without bothering to greet her. "I don't have to prove anything. You can see it for yourself. If nothing comes up, feel free to join in the fun of the raid." The lion stared warily at her. "Why help me then?" "Aren't you the strongest and the best? Isn't it a waste of talent to send someone as majestic as you to his death just because of some lowly scheme of a lowly person?" The lion beamed with satisfaction at the praises she piled on him. His tone became more amiable as he asked her, "What do you get out of this?" BaoBao mocked the lion for being so easy to manipulate while LongFei was f
The sun had begun to set, by the time a huge bunch of animals appeared out of thin air charging in a direction towards FenFang's dwelling. ShiJiao was at the front leading everyone. He looked rested and recharged for the upcoming fight. BaiXue continued to cultivate without a bother. LongFei slunk away, changed into a dragon, and identified each and every one of the appearing animals. Just as there was no longer anyone exiting the illusion, Long Fei spotted the animals that BaiXue spoke of. They were positioned close to the back of the group. He instantly shot out his ice cold flames to circle the group that BaiXue wanted. The unfortunate animals who were around that group either got killed or injured. The entire horde stopped and stared at the silver dragon in the sky. Their faces were filled with shock and fear. "Go. I only have business with this group here." LongFei commanded. Everyone regained their senses and ran with greater fervour. Lo
A sudden large influx of mystical energy got drawn into BaiXue's body. The distirbance in the air was so great that it put out the fire surrounding her and the tiger. She started to grow bigger and bigger, until she was half the size of a tree. Her snow white fur turned into a dark maroon red. The fur at the end of her ears grew longer and became fluffy tufts, while her tail grew longer with the fluff remaining at its end. A sparkly dark purple aura surrounded her. The tiger froze in his spot in fear and trepidation. His eyes were wide and jaw dropped open. "It's time to send my long overdue gift to brother." Her cold words shocked the tiger back to his senses and he went scrambling for his life. BaiXue felt renewed. Her body teemed with strength and power. She swung her tail around her to deal with the 5 lackeys who were attempting to flee in different directions. The moment her tail made contact with their body, their bodies broke and
LongFei appeared at the doorway within the next second. He was met with a view of her sitting on the bed and holding the bright red thick blanket against her chest, with her fair slender bare back facing him.It was a very inviting scene. A random stray image of having his lips against her soft back popped into his mind. Wham! BaiXue jumped at the sudden sound and turned her head to look quizzically at LongFei. "A spider." LongFei said as he dusted the slight dent he created on the door frame. /Could he be scared of spiders? Look at that dent in the frame./ BaiXue talked to BaoBao. BaiXue did not yet notice the slightly red patch on LongFei's forehead. [Yes, that was quite a weird and violent reaction for a small spider.] He had witnessed how LongFei headbutted the wall. LongFei coughed lightly then walked in calmly like nothing happened. /Why am I having such thoughts about her.../ LongFei chide
It was slightly past noon when LongFei returned. He hovered above BaiXue frowning. "Why are you here?" BaiXue ignored him to stay focused on her cultivation. She could feel that it still had the same effect of increasing her power. Perhaps this was what unsettled LongFei's ancestor, even though he already had the crown. LongFei sighed. "You better rest up for a fierce fight. That nine tailed fox is no challenge for me but it is different for you." BaiXue opened her eyes in surprise. "How did you know that she was a nine tailed fox?" "Nine tailed foxes specialise in magic instead of combat. I made a guess when I saw the standard of magic she had cast over an entire village." "How do you know? I don't see any records detailing such useful information." "They're all passed down knowledge." "You've been talking about knowledge passed down through generations. But aren't mystical beings born by chance and rare?" "That's only
FenFang finally frowned and changed into her nine-tailed fox form, anticipating a fight. In her fit of anger and anxiety, she momentarily forgot about the restriction MengYao placed on her. Black chains appeared all over her body. One end led to a collar around her neck. The other ends all seemed to disappear into the ground below FenFang, restricting her movements. She felt utterly humiliated to be seen in such a state but was not willing to back off without a fight. Just as BaiXue lifted a hand towards FenFang, LongFei entered through the front door in his human form. A black cage appeared out of nowhere above him and dropped down. He frowned in annoyance but reacted fast. He overbearingly swung his hand above him like he was simply swatting a fly away and the cage flew to the side easily. This thoroughly shocked FenFang who still had no idea who this intruder was. On the other hand, BaiXue's lips twitched at his show of power that she would never have, whi
LongFei could easily sense MengYao's bloodlust directed at BaiXue. It made his heart thump wildly and uncontrollably in urgency. However, he could not seem to break out of the obsessive thoughts about FengJiao in his mind that held him there. His face scrunched up in annoyance and agony. His mind compelled him to fly back to tend to FengJiao and give her the cure-all antidote. His heart warned him that there was something else far more important than FengJiao that he had to attend to right now. All of a sudden, the softest yet most significant cry of pain in his life reached his ears, and struck a chord within him. It snapped him back to the present and he looked towards the source of it. The sight of a maroon rabbit all curled up into a ball and shivering uncontrollably with a black phoenix nearing dangerously close to her made him see red and lose his mind in a panic. He flew at the fastest speed he could go and the sound was like cutting through wind itself.
The impact of BaiXue's jump created yet another crater in the ground. LongFei kept up with her movement to keep himself between MengYao and BaiXue, and he fired the largest fire he could manage. BaiXue had already made her body as streamlined as possible, so that she would go faster. However, MengYao and LongFei were still faster. In that short distance she covered between her position to FenFang's writhing body, they had exchanged enough blows to cover the forest in black and blue flames. A sudden burst of speed boosted MengYao and he finally appeared by BaiXue's side just as she spun in mid-air to land on her hind legs. LongFei spat out even stronger flames to force MengYao to take a detour, then speedily positioned himself between MengYao and BaiXue once again. LongFei swung his tail and the strong gale threw MengYao back into the trees. This time MengYao was driven deeper into the ground as compared to before. SPLAT! The sound of a body being squash
RenRan began napping. A lot. Souls did not need sleep, but they could choose to do so. FanHai was one of those who seemed to never catch a wink of sleep. While RenRan slept, he stayed by her side, always keeping himself busy with something. This carried on for a good time before she began to catch him with his guard lowered after waking up. ‘A while more.’ RenRan did not believe that a man like him could keep himself entertained this long and resist a cat nap with her. At this point, BaoBao cried out in frustration. There were a few times she could have slipped away because he had already fallen asleep with her! He even dared to cuddle with her. That spot was only reserved for two people! Him and the familiar soul! “Is it really too much to assist by waking her up?” He challenged the elder one. “Is it so hard for her to stay awake in a world that doesn’t need sleep?” He challenged BaoBao back. “...That’s easy for you to say.” Then, BaoBao puffed his cheeks and returned to gl
RenRan’s eyes opened wide. No matter how hard she pushed against him or how much she pounded his chest, shoulders, or head, he persisted on. She tried to bite him, but he avoided using his tongue and skillfully moved his mouth in tandem with her attempts. With his hand cupping the back of her head, she could not break the kiss either. She was at his complete mercy. ‘I should have dropped the act earlier. This isn’t worth it!’ Fear slowly gripped her heart as she wondered how far he would take it. Then, he stopped, just as suddenly as he started. “Enough?” He grinned and meaningfully applied greater pressure on her lower back. His move made RenRan conscious of the rock hard member against her abdomen. Immediately recognising what it was, she fiercely pushed against his chest and demanded, “Okay, let me go! I’ll properly spend some time with you first!” He smiled with satisfaction. “Like I thought.” Then, he let her go. “You wouldn’t have to waste so much time and energy if you jus
RenRan’s heart jumped but she poised herself promptly, ready to grapple with whoever had manhandled her. “Why’d you run away from me? Didn't we have deal?” The somewhat familiar deep voice cleared up the situation. “I’m not running from you.” RenRan explained as she attempted to pull her arm out of his strong grip. “You know you can’t lie with this within us.” He pointed at his chest and kept on his tight smile. “You got to try harder than that to convince me.” RenRan frowned. “And I was precisely following that to find you, as agreed.” His smile gradually disappeared as his gaze dropped to study her entire body. “…You’re weaker than the last time I saw you.” RenRan had nothing to say in response. Instead, she attempted to twist her arm free again. “Even so, I’ve never heard of a compass malfunctioning because of this before.” Annoyed with his accusations, RenRan tuned in
RenRan headed for a condensed group of swirling sparkles that was just a little larger than her. ‘So, my mission is to achieve my dream no matter the cost. What’s my dream? To find YingTao? No, I’ll definitely find him. It’s just a matter of time. Then, I’ll find out that YingTao doesn’t want me anymore. And I’ll want him back...’ RenRan thought of everything that had happened in RenRan’s life. ‘I can only hope that her dream’s that simple...’ She began to think of all her misdemeanors, then ways to right her wrongs. [I should stop you right there. If it wasn’t clear enough before, as long as you’re in the story scenes, you’re supposed to do and say all the things the original character did.] ‘What? You didn’t say that earlier.’ [I mentioned earlier that it's risky to provoke this world’s consciousness into doing anything. So, we can only observe this world. What do you think this mea
Luna was right. She had inhabited Luo RenRan’s body. RenRan’s family belonged to the working class, but her gripe was not their standard of living, it was her parents’ favourtism for her brothers. She was the only girl, and she was the oldest. Anything her brothers did, she was responsible for. Any wrong they committed, they were let off with a more lenient punishment, while she was supposed to forgive and forget. Their expectations for her and the restrictions they imposed on her could not be compared to the standards they held her brothers against. The only solace she had was that her siblings never directly crossed her line, even when she was old enough to start working. If only it stayed that way forever. “RenRan... Forgive your brother, okay? You know he only took it because he needed it and only you can help him. If you have someone you need to blame, blame your father.” A gentle motherly voice coaxed her. “If your father helped, none of us would be
“Wh- What am I doing here?” BaoBao looked around in shock. He recognised this place. The last time he was here, it was to defend Luna. “Why am I back here?”The elder one sighed. “Why did you do it?”“D- Do what?”Gasps were heard around him.“It lies.”“It truly deceives.”“Surely, that’s bad.”“This can’t go on.”“It’s always this one system.”“Clearly there’s something wrong with it.”All the administration looked at the elder one, waiting for the go ahead. The elder one looked at BaoBao so intensely as if BaoBao was a specimen under his microscope. BaoBao gulped. He felt exposed. What was with this elder one? Whatever the case, Luna had already been sent to the next world. He could not dilly dall
“Don’t ignore me! I know you’re awake!” Someone pushed Luna’s shoulder hard. Her eyes flew open, and a purple and black galaxy unfolded before her. Her bottom left whatever she had been sitting on, but she did not fall. There was a resistance that made her body glide instead. Luna blinked a few times, stunned. "I dare you to say it again.” The same voice challenged her. Luna turned towards the source. There it was again. The sensation when she moved was familiar. However, she had no time to make sense of it. The deep voice belonged to a burly woman, instead of a man like Luna had assumed, not that it made anything better. Her guest looked as friendly as a starving lioness. Luna straightened her neat celestial-like robes while she quickly collected her thoughts. It shimmered and shone brighter than the glow emanating from her body. The fabric was so silky to touch that it was like water. Although it was transluc
“LUNA!” BaoBao jumped onto her. Luna grunted from the impact. It reminded her of how much he had grown from the first time she met him. ‘How is he so weightless but so heavy at the same time?’ “Hi BaoBao,” she laughed lightly, “Is this your new way of sending me to the next world?” “Huh?! No, no! It’s far too soon to be sending you to the next world, isn’t it?!” Luna laughed even more. “I was just teasing.” BaoBao blinked innocently. “Oh.” Luna looked at him endearingly. “You’re still so much like a kid.” She rubbed the top of his head lovingly. “Don’t systems live for eternity, if nothing goes wrong?” “Mmhm, what about it?” “It still felt that long to you?” “YES!” BaoBao confirmed without a second thought. Luna laughed. “Let’s spend some time together before heading to the next world.” BaoBao’s heart warmed and h
Nozomi closed her eyes and thought hard about his request. It did not feel right or good to take his years, but she had no right to dictate how he should live his life.‘Since he’s really fine with it...’Nozomi pushed her hands forward to cup his cheeks. “Okay...”Hikaru’s eyes brightened up. He promptly retrieved his book and readied himself. Nozomi watched Hikaru activate his magic with interest. The way his book’s ribbon splits and transforms into a robe and staff never got old. “Thank you, for going along with my wishes.” His heartfelt gratitude was reflected in his eyes as well. Nozomi smiled in understanding and squeezed his hands that were once again holding onto hers. Hikaru closed his eyes and focused on her presence, then said the incantation that he had memorised by then.Green glowing vine marks appeared
