Alex placed the tray of empty plates and glasses on top of the counter the following late Monday morning and smiled as the waitress manning the counter, took them immediately and brought it towards the kitchen. She then resumed arranging the vacated tables, arranging the chairs.
She then grabbed the mop she left leaning on one counter and started mopping the floor. She looked up when she heard the bell from the entrance sound and frowned.
Vincent Worthington, her stepfather’s stepbrother walked inside the diner and stopped when he saw her. He gave out a wave at her aunt, who appeared behind the counter from the kitchen.
“I’ll have some coffee ready for you,” Vicky called out politely.
“Very domestic,” he drawled as he sat on one table and gestured for Alex to sit as well.
“Very clever as well by calling my aunt that you’re coming,” she countered tightly as she sat on the chair, facing him. &ldqu
Zachary opened his eyes, removing his hand from the back of Jacinta’s neck when she finally pulled away and rolled off on top of him on a Wednesday morning. He cradled her to his side as she snuggled up to him, kissing his uninjured shoulder.“For someone who just got out of the hospital, you still know how to make me happy and sated,” she said with a teasing smile on her face. She propped her elbow up, supporting her head while her other hand drew circles on his broad chest, caressing the few hairs lightly.“Well, I haven’t fully paid my doctor yet,” he commented with a grin.Jacinta laughed as she straddled one leg over his and rested her chin on his chest.“I can collect the remaining balance later,” she replied jokingly. “I need to get ready to do some rounds on my patients. I’ll be back early afternoon.”Zach playfully pouted, not wanting her to go.“Can’t you
Alex surfaced from the water at Boulder Coast beach and walked back towards the shore, running both hands over her wet hair and then shook her arms to removed excess water on her skin. She saw Damon stood up from their spot and grabbed her towel. With her height and physical form, Alex is aware of people looking at her. With the sunset behind her, the image she projected to the onlookers are jaw dropping. During her younger years, several talent and modelling scouts had approached her, inviting her to audition but she paid no heed and declined them politely. But that didn’t stop them from trying to convinced her.“You should have chosen the modeling life,” Damon drawled as he placed the towel around her shoulders, immediately covering the scars on her back. “If you did before, I’m sure you’re already touring the world.”“I am touring the world with the job I am in,” she returned defensively. She walked beside
Zach, with a splitting headache, groaned as he opened his eyes, holding his head rolled onto his back and stared up at the ceiling, wondering how he ended there. All he could recall was that he went with Alex and Damon to Boulder Coast.“I want to sit at the front,” he insisted firmly when Alex was opening the door. He gave her a dull look as he placed a hand on top of the door and got inside the passenger seat. “Thanks for opening, Walters.”“Piss off,” she cursed as she slammed the door and finally got inside the car, situating herself behind Damon. She put her shades on. “I’m all set.”Damon then droves off towards the beach, starting a general conversation to which Alex would reply from time to time. By the time he parked at the beach parking lot, the sun was already high up.“Just right on time for lunch,” Damon commented as he opened the door for Alex. He raised his phone to her. &ldq
Three Weeks Later…Alex went out from the elevator as the machine stopped on the floor of the indoor training area on sunny and bright Tuesday morning. She greeted some familiar faces near her, then proceeded to the locker room to store her things, taking off her ID around her neck and stuffing it inside along with her phone and wallet. She silently wished that she demanded for another week leave but she knew she will be pushing it far, knowing that the enemy might be moving in soon based on what Damon had relayed to her last week.“Good to see you back, Walters.”She looked up and saw Mark, leaning on the doorway and looking at her patiently.“I’ll be out in a few minutes, sir,” she said calmly as she turned back to her locker. "I'm just checking some messages on my phone."“We're being called back upstairs,” he informed as he walked inside and stood a few feet away from. “Dire
Zach entered The Legacy Stadium the following day along with his fifteen agents that he had personally picked from his office together with Mark, Gavin, and Alex. They will be teamed up together with the police force, SWAT, and the congressman’s security team. They will all be meeting today at the stadium to do ocular inspection, pointing out all entry and exit points, possible emergency evacuation of the congressman and the location of posts that they will be manning. His eyes travelled to Alex, who walked quietly a few steps ahead of him. Ever since she came back from the three-week leave that the director had granted her, she became even more hostile and downright unpleasant when she deals with him. She would show the respect that he earns for being her superior, but that was all there is.Zach could still not fully understand his reaction towards her. He had admitted to himself that same day his attraction to Alex. Ever since he had met her at the dine
Alex is toying with her dinner that night while listening to Ashley and Malcolm talking in front of her when she heard the door opened. She managed to glance up and a frown appeared on her face when she saw Zach entering the establishment, looking at her. “Hey, man,” Malcolm greeted casually when he noticed Alex looking towards the door and turned as well. “What the heck are you doing here? Is Jacinta with you?” “I need to talk to you,” Zach said to Alex seriously. Malcolm and Ashley stared at Alex in surprise at what Zach said. “Could you help me at the counter?” Ashley said to Malcolm softly. She looked up and smiled at Zach. “Is there anything that I can get you, Mr. Montgomery? Beer?” Zach nodded. “Thanks,” he stated. The minute Malcolm had wheeled off Ashley, Alex then stood up from her chair. Zach automatically grabbed her wrist and pushed her back down on her seat, glaring at her hardly. “We’re going to talk,” he
Zach stared infuriatingly at Damon’s back as they prepped themselves inside one holding room.It was the day of the congressman’s event at The Legacy Stadium and the whole security and monitoring team and preparing hours before the crowd will start coming in.“What’s making you look surly?” Malcolm muttered to him darkly, his eyes as well directed towards Damon’s back, who seemed unaware of the men throwing him some dirty looks. He gave Zach a look. “Does your girlfriend had an inkling that you have the hots for your subordinate?”Zach turned and looked at Malcolm evenly.“Does her sister even know how you felt, Johnson?” He spat. The two only gave each other hard looks before resuming in getting themselves ready. With Damon introduced to Ashley that night, he seemed to have used it to his advantage in inviting himself to the diner for the next few nights according to what Malcolm had rela
Alex lowered the binoculars that was given to her during preparation after thoroughly checking the crowd for any other suspicious persons that needs to be escorted out. So far, the team she had been assigned to had pointed out fifteen persons and more than half of them had been ushered out of the premises after verification of their condition. The event had started twenty minutes ago, and she watched at the projected screen a popular group of local musicians doing a lively performance and engaging the crowd to join them. Despite the performers appeal to the audience, the security team had the bouncers upfront hold tight on the steel barricade.Zach’s face was shown on the screen for a few minutes, looking serious as he looks at the crowd intently and then turning back to check on the congressman at the stage. She shook her head at the thought that had crossed her mind.Over the course of her working in the bureau under him, Alex in some way had deve
