"A-r-e you... being serious right now?" my lips quivered as I asked him. I hoped I didn't hear Simon correctly.

"I am, I'm sorry I should have said this sooner." Simon spoke, avoiding my gaze while his mother hissed. I didn't bother responding to her, she was the least of my problems.

"You should have said this sooner?" I asked, barely above a whisper. I knew we were going through a rocky phase but I didn't realize that we had come to this level.

"Yes," Simon repeated, walking closer to me. He sighed, attempting to reach for my arms but I flinched, pulling back. "Look, this has to be done. I don't feel happy in this marriage."

What did he mean by not feeling happy, I had dedicated the most parts of my life trying to please him. Before he said a word to me, I'd known him and sought ways to manoeuvre my way into his life.

"It will be unfair to keep you here," Simon added, "Tyra is the one I love." He pointed over to the model-like lady.

"I don't get all of this, if you loved Tyra then why did you get married to me?" I asked, my heart racing whilst trying to control the tears gathering in my eyes. At that point, I thought I'd be too weak to let them see me cry.

"Meghan you know what you did, you deliberately tried to get pregnant for me so you could be married into the Hemsworth family." Simon ran his hands through his hair as she explained. "I finally gave the attention because you've been all over me and next thing you got pregnant-"

"Took you long enough to realise her agenda, son. I'm super proud of you." Madam Eleanor said.

I stared at them in disbelief. I loved Simon, what he said was untrue. I had yearned for him the very moment I laid my eyes on him. His sparkling blue eyes, hair the finest shade of brown which he always ran his long slender fingers over, and the softness with which every word rolled off his lips made my world halt. The first time he noticed me, I found myself adjusting my gown and tucking my hair behind my ears nervously and avoiding the intensity of his blue eyes... But all that didn't matter anymore.

"You can't speak?" Simon mocked, "You know I'm right!"

"We were both drunk that night and you insisted on keeping the baby." I calmly explained, I wasn't going to give them that satisfaction they were seeking.

"Because you were hesitant on getting rid of it and I know what girls like you are capable of, did you think I was going to let you drag my family's name to the mud?" Simon barked at me, an irritated look crossing his face.

"You said you were okay with me keeping the baby and by your family's tradition," I started, reminding him of his words. "You said you'd have to get married to me which wasn't a problem because you were starting to fall in love with me."

Simon's laughter reverberated through the house and I was taken aback. There was nothing funny about this.

"C'mon, I only did all of that for the child you later lost and to make grandma happy, none of this was real." Simon shrugged, a pathetic look on his face.

None of this was real, the words kept on ringing in my head. My brain couldn't make sense of the words.

"You heard him loud and clear," my replacement, sitting elegantly as she watched drama unfold, mocked and winked at me with a smirk.

My hands were shaky as my chest tightened with an array of emotions waiting to be expressed. Firstly Simon had no acknowledgement for our little baby which we lost when she was in my womb—a scar I hadn't fully healed from. Secondly Simon didn't love me as I thought he did. How could he? He claimed to be okay with all of these for the longest time that I didn't notice his discontentment for our union until his grandmother died. There was no need to water a dead flower, at this point, I knew I had to let Simon go.

"You better sign the divorce papers instead of causing a scene and disrupting our dinner," Tyra warned, staring like me as though I was the worst human on earth.

These people were going to make fun of me, I knew I wasn't rich like them and with that they already had the upper hand. I had to take my leave. Nothing I'll do will change Simon's mind.

"I will." I stated, rushing upstairs to pack my bags and sign the divorce papers. While I packed my bags, I overheard madam Eleanor's footsteps before she barged into the room.

"I needed to be here just to make sure a poverty stricken girl like you doesn't take what doesn't belong to you."

Ignoring her, I made my way downstairs the moment I was done packing.

I dropped the divorce papers on the table, "Here's your wish, hope you are happy now." I smiled at Simon, acting unhurt.

"Here's a cheque to sort yourself out and never return back here again." Simon handed me a cheque. So now he's trying to bribe with money just so i never show up here again? This was a man I was legally married to.

I took the cheque and shredded it into pieces, the astonished look on their faces filling with a tiny silver of joy.

"Have a great night." With that, I squared my shoulders and catwalked out of their sight. The moment I was outside the door, the tears came down in torrents. While I mumbled the name of the hotel to the driver, I thought about how much of a fool I was to think that Simon would actually stoop so low to fall in love with someone of my class. As I walked into the hotel, I made a vow to rebrand myself and stay away from love
