Chapter 10
Selena's POVAsher was leaning against his desk, his sleeve rolled up to his elbow and a few buttons left open. His hands were crossed, revealing the veins that trailed the length of his arm. Asher's face didn't portray any emotions that even as I stepped in, he simply stared. The confidence which I gathered pathetically before walking in was slowly waning due to his lack of action or perhaps, attention. The situation didn't look any better than it did a few days back. Even without Cecelia hanging by his arm, the effect was still the same. I still felt like nothing more than a desperate leech vying for his stupid attention. It was demeaning, not that I had any sense of self worth in the beginning.Asher finally stirred from his position, straightening himself to his full height as he began his strides towards me. I wanted an escape, needed to disappear or tear this stupid dress from my body.I needed someone to blChapter 11Selena's POV Omegas were weak, spineless pups. Gammas were stronger, faster, better. They were not as good as the Alpha, not even close, but they were at least ten times better than the omegas in almost all, if not, everything. So, the million dollar question was, how foolish could an Omega be to attack a Gamma? Probably as foolish as I am. Cecelia leapt out of the way effortlessly before I could grab her, or better still, scratch her pretty little face. She landed perfectly on her feet, her movements lithe and graceful. I could feel my wolf, powerless but present regardless. "You don't want to do this, sweetheart", Cecelia singsonged, using the same nickname. If looks could kill, my glare was like that of a month old kitten. Either way, I refused to let myself be deterred as I sized her up. She looked completely at ease, like I was so insignificant to even be considered a threat. Without thoug
Chapter 12Selena's POV "Why are you upset, Selena?"Axel questioned, Folding his arms across his chest. It took a while to distract my brain from the searing pain and sick sound of bones snapping into place, but after it passed, only a tingling feeling remained. I was glaring daggers at the side of Axel's head, wishing he could combust into ashes right in front of me. "I'm not upset", my voice came out defensive. "I just do not have the energy to deal with whatever you have to say right now, so leave"For now, the embarrassment from the fight, no, from the merciless beating from Cecelia still hadn't quite settled although I knew it was only a matter of time before it did. At this moment, I'd use the last shred of my dignity to rebel against my mate. "Clearly, you are", Axel looked up, his eyes catching mine. "So tell me Selena. I mean, if you had the guts to speak to Cecelia and go as far as picking a fight then sur
Chapter 13Selena's POV The moment our lips crashed, I knew I was a goner. This was one of those instances where it was inevitable that the particular memory would be forever ingrained in your brain, like a scar that wouldn't just go away. But this was a beautiful scar. I'd heard tales, watched countless movies that described the feeling of that first kiss. My first kiss with Ethan was awkward, our teeths knocked together and we weren't quite in sync. Eventually, it became natural and the butterflies in my belly always fluttered at the thought of kissing him. But the kiss with Axel was different. There weren't butterflies but a fucking stampede. Axel kissed me hungrily like I was his only source of oxygen, his hands were everywhere , in my hair, on my thighs, then my back, my neck, my face, until I was nothing but a pile of mush at his mercy. Our lips danced, until he had my lower lip between his teeth, tugging slightly. I parted my l
Chapter 14Selena's POV Was it a good idea to walk in to Asher and confess my promiscuous act? Probably not. But I hated cheaters. Was I any different from Ethan and Elsa? Maybe not. I was pretty decent but one indecent act actually can lead to a whole lot of crazy events. And I loathed drama. This was the second time I would be entering the same cursed office two times in a row. I wasn't too keen but I also knew this is where Asher must be spending his time. I wonder how Asher would feel when I tell him about Axel and I. Surely he'd understand. Axel was my mate and it wasn't an easy feat to push aside the attraction and crazy chemistry between two wolves bonded by the moon goddess herself. It was like trying to swim against the currents in an ocean. Almost impossible. I knew I may not be able to muster the same courage which I was marching with currently hence the need to get this over and done with. So I prayed d
Chapter 15Axel's POV My mate's lips were plump and soft. The moment my lips and hers met, I couldn't quite get enough of it. The more I kissed her, I wanted her closer, I craved to have my body fill hers until we were molded together. The kiss ended a bit too soon. I found myself smiling. "Alpha?", my beta nudged me subtly. I turned to him, seeing a couple more eyes staring at me. "I'm listening. Continue", I urged. A patrol guard in charge of others resumed his talk. "The rogue activities seem to face a recent spike in the past three months", he frowned. "We have tried suppressing more fights here, here and over there", he used a red marker to circle the areas. "So far, it's been successful but we have no idea what they are after""So you're saying that no other area has faced these attacks, except the ones you just listed?""Yes Alpha"I stared at the map, trying to
Chapter 16Axel's POV "Zip it", I glared at my friend who seemed all too invested in the drama called my life. "How, by the goddess name, did your mate somehow end up as your brother's bride to be?", he shook his head, probably attempting to grasp the gravity of the situation. "Tell me about it", I pressed my eyelids in frustration, puffing a breath out. Blake moved to the edge of the couch, using his knees to prop his arms as he leaned towards me. "Well, does she know?", his eyes were filled with curiosity. "And what was her reaction?""She knows", I stated. "But she's not too happy with the situation though. She feels it's unfair that I wouldn't let her go yet I still handed her over to my brother""Technically, you did""Can you stop?", I chided him. "I already feel terrible about this but you're making it worse""Fine", Blake raised his arms in surrender. He eyed me carefully, gauging
Chapter 17Axel's POV I was growing frustrated at the fact that I had no idea why Selena behaved in such a manner. She was bolder this time, different in a hot kind of way but as upset with me as she was the first time we met. "Selena", I pounded at the locked door, dissatisfied when I couldn't hear shuffling of feet or the slightest action that indicated her interest in speaking to me. "Come on, at least explain to me why you're upset"Still, silence met me at the other end. Groaning, I turned to leave only to see someone standing at the end of the hallway. Cecelia. The moment our eyes locked, she smirked before strutting towards me, her heels loud in the quiet hallway. Cecelia came to a stop a few feet from me, too close for comfort hence I took a step back in retaliation. "What are you doing here?", I questioned, boredom already filling my voice. She hated when I did that. Perhaps she was alrea
Chapter 18 Selena's POV I've managed to successfully avoid Cecelia, Asher and most importantly, Axel for the past few days without a single hitch. But when Axel decided to show up in my room while I slept, now that made me freak out a tad bit. After he left, I did feel guilty by my cold demeanor but not by a lot. Axel deserves it. Besides, I had every justification to be mad at him when he made me kiss him like that knowing I was his brother's fiancée. Deep, deep down, I knew we were both to blame equally but for the sake of my anger, I'd pin it all on him. After slamming the door in his face, I didn't hear his receding footsteps until after not less than twenty minutes. He was having a conversation with someone on the other end of the door but I couldn't make out the voice, nor could I narrow it down to whether it was a lady or a man. "Oh, you're dressed", Lily's voice sounded breathless. It was obvious she ran all the way here. "Sorry, I overslept", she bowed her hea
