WRITER’S POV“Sir, about the Williams Motors Project. I would like to send off the signed documents now.” Lawrence’s secretary, Miss Jones said as she stopped in front of Lawrence’s desk.“Ah, right...” Lawrence pulled open the drawer where he had kept the documents for the project. He stared longer at it, still uncomfortable with just signing it off. He already asked Jessie to find something, any evidence at all he could show his father to prove his suspicious. He glanced at his wrist-watch, it was past an hour since Jessie left to check for the last time. He just has to wait for a little more.“Sir, is there a problem?” Miss Jones asked.Lawrence gave a shake of head. “You may go back to work; I will let you know when I sign on it.”“I’m sorry, but I must send the document to the office in charge very soon.”Lawrence thought for a while, “How soon? If I’m not mistaken, the board meeting will be in errm,” he glanced at his wrist watch before he continued, “In exactly two hours... Si
WRITER’S POVWILLIAMS GROUP MEETING ROOMSTATUS: BOARD MEMBERS MEETING IN PROGRESS.“Chairman Williams appoints Director Oliver Williams in charge of Williams Motor production,” the meeting anchor started. There was a scanty clap from some of the people in the meeting. Oliver Williams nodded towards them a thin smile. He couldn’t have been more pleased. It was a moment he had waited for.“However, while Chairman Williams has given a go ahead, all that remained is the signature of director Lawrence. Erm, Director Lawrence? Care to let the board members know what’s keeping you from leaving your signature on the project?”Okay, calm down, Lawrence. It’s now or never...Lawrence felt the gaze of almost all the men settle on him. He took silent deep breaths then he pushed the microphone to his reach and spoke into it. “Urh, forgive my reluctance on signing off on the project. However, I have my reasons.”There was a bit of murmur amongst the men.“What reasons do you have, director Lawrenc
WRITER’S POVLawrence groaned as he stretched his arms upward causing his joints and bones to crack. It was weekend and a time he was supposed to rest but of course resting wasn’t for him. He had no idea this was what he had bargained for the moment he was given the Williams Motors Project. It was already three weeks since then but it still felt like he just started and Lawrence could boldly count the number of times he had managed a good night rest. Very few. If he wasn’t inspecting the machine parts in the engine room for the new cars, he was holding meetings with different groups involved in the project. He barely had time to have a proper meal.He yawned tiredly and stood from his seat. when he glanced at the wall clock across the room, he saw it was already past midnight; exactly 1: am. He sighed as he switched off the lamp and trotted towards the bedroom, rubbing his tired eyes as he walked.Veronica was already deep asleep when he got in.He chuckled lightly despite his tired s
WRITER’S POVJust like his father said, Director Mason met Lawrence and it didn’t take a lot of time before everything was fixed. The rest of the day was as uneventful as it could be and Lawrence didn’t realize it was late in the evening until his secretary rapped on the door and walked in.“Sir, will you be spending the night here in your office? Should I get you a cup of coffee for the night?” Miss Jones asked.“No, don’t worry about the coffee. I won’t be staying here for the night.” Lawrence answered without looking up from his phone. He glanced at his golden wristwatch and continued looking into his phone. A picture of Bianca was showing in the screen. He would zoom it in and back again. He was missing her terribly. She said she will be returning soon but didn’t mention the exact day. He was dying to hold her in his arms and kiss her. If not for this project, he would have booked the next available flight and went over to her. That was how much he missed and wanted her.Miss jone
LAWRENCE’S POVI stomped out of Charley’s house and drove speedily away.I had no idea where I was going to but I just drove because that was all I could do at that moment. That was all my wrenched heart could do.I didn’t know how long I drove and honestly I didn’t care if only it would push away the images of what I just saw permanently out of my head. But after what seemed like hours, I found myself in front of one of the night clubs I had visited in the past. Heartbroken then, I had come alone to it the first time Bianca had rejected my love and drank myself to stupor.Despite myself, I couldn’t help but chuckle painfully. What are the odds that I find himself in front of the same club...same throbbing feeling in my heart, caused by the same person but for different reasons?I unhooked my seatbelt and dragged myself into the club. The noise from the club drowned me in the moment I stepped in. My eyes darted the large hall filled with people dancing and drinking happily at one end
VERONICA’S POV“Where are you right now?”I briefly removed my phone from ear, peered at the caller identity again before I put the phone back in my ear.“Home,” I replied.“Check the internet.”“Urhm, why?” I asked but the line had already beeped and went dead.I frowned in confusion.“That was weird...”I murmured to myself and for a moment I pondered on what just happened.Chairman Williams calling me himself, not through his wife nor Director Mason or even through his son but by himself. The most surprising thing of all, asking me to check the internet.Wow! Since when did we get that close? If he wanted to check the internet, he could have asked his secretary or something, why ask me.To think he didn’t even mention why he asked me to check the internet. Was he always this rude? How could he hang up after saying all he wanted to say and didn’t care about what I had to say...Mtsw, I must have been deceived at first when I thought he was cool.I casted a look at the bunch of files
VERONICA’S POVI looked beside me. Lawrence was still in bed. I couldn’t tell if he was asleep or just pretending to be.It was already 6:am and the old Lawrence could have been out of bed and getting ready for work.I let out a silent sigh as I recalled how it had all started. His heartbreak has messed him up badly.Did he loved her that much or was it the betrayal from his friend that hurt him more...?Whichever one it was, I couldn’t tell. Any of them was enough to hurt anyone anyways. It has been past three days already since he got betrayed by his friend and lover. Ever since then, he had literally snapped out of life. Accurately put, he wished life would snap out of him. He would say no word to anyone or even agree to see anyone. Twice his mother came and twice she had left without seeing him.He had turned off his cellphone and his father couldn’t reach him. When director Mason had come to deliver his father’s message to him, out of respect for his father, or was it the fear of
WRITER’S POV“Hey,” Lawrence called quietly as he joined Veronica on the dining table.“Hey,” Veronica mumbled back without shifting her gaze away from her plate. He reached for the cinnamon toast in her front but struggled with it. Veronica lifted the plate of cinnamon toast and placed before him so he could reach it easily this time.“Thank you,” He said and glanced at her. He noticed she hadn’t looked up from her plate nor have their eyes met since he joined her at the table and when he glanced into her plate of food, she had barely eaten anything and repeatedly poked at the omelet and scrambled eggs before her.His lips pursed briefly as he wondered if her sudden quietness was something related to him.“Are you alright?” He found himself asking.“Mm-mmh,” She mumbled with her eyes still fixed on her plate.Lawrence shrugged and continued eating. He wondered what she was thinking about. The past week has been one of his worst but she had made it less traumatic for him. He didn’t t
