DEFENDING HIM

VERONICA’S POV

How long has he been there? How much did he hear?

These questions wouldn’t stop running in my head.

I couldn’t believe I had done that; I mean, I couldn’t believe I said those words.

Maybe I should have been an actress instead of studying management back in school.

It was just an acting. I was just trying to defend Lawrence from that lousy entitled bitch. He deserved that much from his wife, well, even though I wasn’t really his wife.

Those were the things I kept telling myself.

When I got downstairs, the screen light of my phone had just gone off indicating I just had a call or a message.

I had quickly picked up my phone from the sofa in the sitting room and headed for my room at once.

Once inside the room, I pulled off my robe leaving only my mini skimpy light dress on and collapsed into the bed.

Back in my room, I checked the caller. I had three different callers. One was an unknown number. I frowned a bit. I hated unknown numbers calling my line and I couldn’t rack
