VERONICA’S POV

“What do you want from me, Vincent?” I asked pushing down the bile that was already rising inside of me slowly.

Vincent stared at me. Then he said, “I want us back... I want us back together. I missed you, Veronica. I miss us... I know I made mistakes but I really want you back, I swear.”

I was numb. It felt like a bomb had gone off in my chest and then the loud banging sound had reverberated in my ear. And even when I was sure I had heard the clattering of something in the table behind us and the waitress serving the coffee, I couldn’t actually tell how it had all happened.
