IT WAS ALL A MISTAKE 3

VERONICA’S POV

All day I waited for Lawrence to give me a call. I hated myself for it because it only ended up in getting me disappointed.

At the time I had given up and only wanted to bury whatever silly thoughts I had about him to work, he showed up unannounced.

I felt the butterflies in my belly leap ecstatically at the sight of him but all the pleasantness and whatever butterfly that evaded my insides soon vanished the moment I was reminded of my resolve.

“Is there something you wished to say?” I asked him with a straight face.

He was mute for a split second and then he said, “Urh...well, I just came to check up on you. You left quite early in the morning.”

“We could have spoken at home. Why did you have to come all the way here? You must have been busy with work.” I spoke flatly, so uninterested in whatever he had to say. I bet he must have noticed it as the excitement in his tone withered.

He decided to let me get back to work and let us talk at home. I mumbled a low ‘okay’ and
